The.Me.ite.rane.n Se. is home.to an inte.e.ting biodive.sity. The.curre.t cumulative.and de.criptive.study aims to e.ume.ate.some.re.ative.y large.marine.mammals, re.tile., and fishe. that have.be.n spotte., caught, by-caught, or strande. on the.coast of the.Gaza Strip, Pale.tine. which e.te.ds about 42 km along the.Me.ite.rane.n Se.. This 20-ye.r study from 2003 to 2022 re.ie. much on fre.ue.t fie.d visits, me.tings, and discussions with stake.olde.s, following local me.ia site. and social me.ia page., and photography. The.study re.orde. at le.st 26 giants or re.ative.y large.marine.organisms on the.Me.ite.rane.n coast of the.Gaza Strip, Pale.tine. Ce.tainly, the.coming ye.rs may bring othe. marine.organisms of re.ative.y large.size.. Marine.mammals include. thre. spe.ie. of ce.ace.ns with the.Fin Whale.(Balae.opte.a physalus) be.ng the.large.t mammal and e.e. the.large.t animal e.e. re.orde. in this study. Marine.re.tile. include. thre. spe.ie. of se. turtle., the.large.t of which is the.Le.the.back Se. Turtle.(De.moche.ys coriace.), which is in fact the.world’s large.t se. turtle. The.bony fishe. we.e.re.re.e.te. by te. spe.ie., the.large.t of which was the.Oce.n Sunfish (Mola mola), which is the.large.t bony fish in the.world. The.cartilaginous fishe. include. te. spe.ie. with the.large.t spe.ime.s e.counte.e. we.e.the.Shortfin Shark (Isurus oxyrinchus), Bluntnose.Sixgill Shark (He.anchus grise.s), Scallope. Hamme.he.d Shark (Sphyrna le.ini), and Giant De.il Ray (Mobula mobular). Se.birds we.e.not include. in the.study. The.Ale.andria Pompano (Ale.tis ale.andrinus) and the.Silve.-Che.ke. Toadfish (Lagoce.halus sce.e.atus), which are.bony fishe., appe.r to be.the.re.ative.y smalle.t marine.organisms re.orde. he.e. In conclusion, the.role.of the.various partie. must be.coordinate. to e.sure.the.sustainability of human activitie. and the.r compatibility with the.task of conse.ving local marine.biota, including the.gigantic or re.ative.y large.one..
