Discrepancies between clinical and autopsy findings in patients who had.an acute stroke

Objectives According to international observations,the incidence of clinical autopsies is declining worldwide,plummeting below 5%in the USA and many European *** is an unfavourable trend as,in 7%-12%of cases,recent clinicopathological studies found discrepancies that might have changed the therapy or the outcome if known *** previous large-scale observations have examined varied patient populations,we aimed to focus on the differences between the clinical and pathological diagnostic findings in only patients who had a *** and methods We assessed the postmortem non-neuropathological and neuropathological findings of 534 consecutive patients who had a stroke who passed *** neoplasms,pneumonias,thromboembolisms and haemorrhagic transformations revealed only by autopsy were considered severe abnormalities;in addition,benign abnormalities important from an educational or scientific point of view were also *** In 26 of the 534 cases(4.9%),the presence of systemic neoplasms had already been confirmed in the clinical stage;however,8(1.5%)malignant tumours were only detected during ***,80(15%)thromboembolic events,73(13.6%)pneumonias and 66(18%)haemorrhagic transformations were only diagnosed at *** hospital stay(from admission to death)resulted in fewer discrepancies between clinical and autopsy diagnosis of thromboembolic events and pneumonias(pad a stroke as autopsies may reveal clinically silent diseases(eg,tumour),and contribute to knowing the actual incidence of stroke-related thromboembolic and pneumonia complications.

Agricultural wastes,including cocoa pod husk(waste from the chocolate industry)and sugarcane bagasse(waste from the sugar industry),are increasing day by *** development of food packaging biofilms from these two wastes could be beneficial to the environment and ***,this study was conducted to develop biodegradable plastic films by using cocoa pod husk and sugarcane *** and fibre were extracted from cocoa pod husk and sugar-cane bagasse,*** developed bioplastic films were divided into several concentration ratios of cellulose and fibre which are 100꞉0(100%cellulose),75꞉25(cellulose꞉fibre),50꞉50(cel-lulose꞉fibre),25꞉75(cellulose꞉fibre),and 0꞉100(100%fibre).The physicochemical properties for all bioplastic concentration ratios were determined in terms of sensory evaluation,drying time,moisture content,water absorption and water vapor *** the observation and anal-ysis of the physicochemical properties of bioplastic,we found that the most suitable bioplastic film for food packaging goes to the combination of 75%cellulose and 25%fibre bioplastic,as it demonstrated the lowest water absorption percentage and water vapor permeability.

Role of Fresh Cadaver Practice and Jesus Prayers on Daily Base in Innovations of a Difficult Neurosurgical Operation (Craniopagus Separation)

Purpose: Challenging cases in neurosurgery require experience, which is gained by operating on a number of similarly difficult cases. However, even in large population centers, there are extremely rare cases, such as craniopagus twins. In these instances, other case-specific solutions are required which were improved in the course of fresh cadaver practice on daily base. Methods: During a 20-month preparation period by fresh cadavers the surgical strategy was developed step by step, comprising five neurosurgical ideas, facilitated by deep Jesus prayers as a spiritual source. Possible causes of postoperative complications that occured on 33d postoperative day were also analyzed. Results: During surgery, these nuances proved to be useful, which is also reflected by the postoperative clinical results. One of the twins ad.anced to a GOS score of 5three months after the surgery. The other twin, despite nonsurgical septic complications, continued to progress well, but on postoperative day 33 for seemingly unknown reasons, she suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage, which significantly delayed her rehabilitation. A thorough revision of the whole process much later revealed a pitfall that could have a role in this complication. Conclusions: The challenging neurosurgical separation of the craniopagus twins was carried out successfully with the help of five novel neurosurgical refinements, which were found during 300 fresh cadaver practices. Mistakes can serve as a lesson. We hope that the procedures developed and the knowledge gained can be applied in the future.

析氧反应(oxygen evolutionreaction OER)是电催化分解水、二氧化碳还原、金属-空气电池以及燃料电池等能源转化及存储技术的关键过程,因此被广泛关注和研究.OER过程涉及四个电子转移,是动力学迟滞过程,具有较大的过电位,此外OER催化反应的同时也可能改变电极表面状态,故其机理的研究十分困难.设计和开发高效OER催化剂材料是提高电解水效率的关键.最近的研究发现反应后催化剂表面会发生重构,进而形成无定形层,该无定形层被认为会改善催化活性.我们的前期研究也发现了表面不饱和配位无定形层的存在,但对于重构机制尚没有明确的解释.本文在上述研究基础上,利用熔盐法合成了一系列具有多孔结构的不同Sr含量的LaCo0.8Fe0.2O3-δ钙钛矿材料,通过电化学装置测试其催化活性,并采用X射线衍射(XRD)、扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、高分辨透射电镜(HRTEM)、比表面积测试(BET)和软硬X射线吸收谱技术等表征手段对其进行了深入探索.XRD测试结果表明,Sr掺杂LaCo0.8Fe0.2O3-δ钙钛矿材料的主峰随着Sr含量增加向低角度偏移,这是由于Sr的离子半径较La的大.SEM和BET测试结果表明,不同Sr含量样品均表现出多孔的钙钛矿结构,并具有相似的比表面积,说明Sr含量变化不影响催化剂的形貌和比表面积.利用硬X射线吸收谱对体相Co和Fe元素的价态进行了研究,发现随着Sr含量的增加,Co和Fe离子的价态没有明显变化.类似地,利用软X射线吸收谱对表面层Co和Fe价态进行的研究发现,Co和Fe均表现出+3价,但在氧元素的K边吸收谱上观察到明显的氧空穴存在.电化学测试结果表明,催化剂的活性随Sr含量增加而增大.总之,随着Sr的掺杂,催化剂形貌及活性元素价态均无明显变化,但样品的电化学性能却发生了明显改善,这意味着尚有其它因素影响催化剂活性.利用HRTEM对OER反应前后的样品进行了形貌分析,发现在OER反应后Sr掺杂的催化剂表面出现了明显的无定形层,而无Sr掺杂的样品反应前后几乎未观察到表面形貌的变化.由此我们推断,Sr掺杂可诱导催化剂表面出现无定形层,进而提高OER反应活性.因此,在LaCo0.8Fe0.2O3-δ钙钛矿材料体系中,Sr掺杂是影响OER催化剂表面重构和制约催化活性的关键.

The glycerol content of grape juices and wines has been determined by gas-chromatographic methods using silyl derivatives. The effect of different storage conditions and yeast cultures on glycerol content has been investigated. Grape juice samples with different starting D-Glucose concentrations have been treated with several additives (HPO42?, S2O52?, NadH and HSO3?). Significant glycerol concentration enhancement has been detected in the case of the addition of NadH (5.14 g/L), however the presence of HSO3? prevented the excessive glycerol formation (1.21 g/L).
