Arteriovenous fistulas(AVFs)are a vital form of AV access for patients requiring hemodialysis,but they link to overall morbidity and mortality when they fail to *** most common cause of AVF non-maturation is neointimal hyperplasia(NIH).To minimize the deleterious effects of NIH,a perivascular wrap composed of polycaprolactone(PcL),rosuvastatin(ROSU),and gold nanoparticles(AUNPs)was *** study assessed the impact of ROSU-eluting,radiopaque resorbable perivascular wraps on pathologic NIH in a chronic kidney disease(cKD)rodent model of *** PcL wraps containing AuNPs and/or ROSU were monitored for in vitro tensile strength,AuNP release,ROSU elution,and effect on cellular *** wraps were then implanted around an AVF in a cKD rodent model for in vivo ultrasound(US)and micro-computed tomography(mcT)*** specimens were collected for histological *** viability was preserved in the presence of both AuNP-and ROSU-containing *** vitro release of ROSU and AuNPs correlated with in vivo findings of decreasing radiopacity on mcT over ***-loaded wraps had higher radiopacity(1270.0-1412.0 HU at week 2)compared with other wraps(103.5-456.0 HU),which decreased over *** addition of ROSU decreased US and histologic measurements of *** reduced NIH seen with ROSU-loaded perivascular wraps suggests a synergistic effect between mechanical support and anti-hyperplasia ***,AuNP loading increased wrap ***,our results show that AuNP-and ROSU-loaded PcL wraps induce AVF maturation and suppress NIH while facilitating optimal implanted device visualization.

Post-occupancy evaluation of a restored industrial building： A contemporary art and design gallery in Mexico

This paper presents the results obtained from a post-occupancy evaluation （POE） study conducted in an old fabric building called ＂La VToleta＂. This structure has been recently converted into a contemporary art *** Violeta is located in Puebia city, Mexico. The buiidieg dates from the beginning of the 19th century; it was buitt and used as a textite factory until the first decades of the 20th century. This POE study aims to assess the new use of the buildieg from the users＇ point of view. Methodology involves historical research of the building, analysis of the conversion strategy, watkthrough investigation, and a user survey. Questions regarding the re-utilization strategy used in the building and its current use are inctuded in the survey, such as ＂Hew do people perceive the space regarding its functionality, accessibility, and comfort？＂ ALthough the re-utitization process destroyed several historic elements, the re-use of old industrial spaces that otherwise would be obsotete and disused seems pertinent. Developing stoatl renovation projects as part of an integrat and wider project seems feasible. Users perceive the buiidinR as comfortabte but not property advertised as an art gallery, and its location is difficult to find.

climate change Effects on Evapotranspiration in Mexico

In Mexico’s case, the scarcity of water in the north of the country is worrying, even more from the agricultural point of view because according to the results of general circulation models, a major impact due to global warming is expected in this region, and it will have important repercussions on the rural sector in the north of Mexico. According to [1] the results of the sensitivity analysis made in this study indicate that the most vulnerable zone is the north of Mexico, wherein the increase of evapotraspiration (ET) is greater in comparison to the rest of the country;up to 8% annual average for a +3°;c growth in mean annual temperature. Due to some limitations in this preliminary investigation (e.g., global temperature data was used without regionalizing it), it was decided to make more detailed studies to estimate the climate change effects on ET on a regional scale, using the downscaling method to adjust temperature data. In this study a new methodology to estimate the ET before climate change scenarios is introduced, which includes the selection of the Hargreaves-Samani method (HS), calibrated and compared against the Penman-Monteith AScE method in various irrigation districts in the northern part of the country, obtaining ET estimations with a 93% precision. This procedure was applied to nine states in north Mexico: Baja california, Baja california Sur, chihuahua, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, coahuila y Durango. The principal results are enunciated as follows: the ET variations between the contemporary scenario and the 2030 scenario are quite significant, according to the data of 160 meteorological stations;for temperature variations between 0.1°;c to 0.45°;c the corresponding ET fluctuation goes from 2% in the current scenario to 7% in the 2030 scenario. Perceptions of fishers to sea turtle bycatch,illegal capture and consumption in the San Ignacio-Navachiste-Macapule lagoon complex,Gulf of california,Mexico

In this study, 10% of all registered fishermen in the coastal towns of Navachiste in Sinaloa, in northwestern Mexico, answered a survey designed to collect data on their perceptions of the following topics: the impact of turtle meat consumption;human health;bycatch;illegal turtle fishing;the illegal sea turtle market;the lo-cal economy;pollution;environmental education;the success of protective legislation;and sea turtle-based ec-otourism. Perceptions were analyzed using the fuzzy logic method through classification into 5 fuzzy member-ship sets: VL, very low;L, low;M, moderate;H, high;VH, very high. The 9 topics generated decision areas upon applying fuzzy inference that revealed the membership level of the answers in each fuzzy set. The eco-nomic potential of sea turtle-based ecotourism and the economic profitability of the illegal turtle meat market were perceived as VL. conservation legislation was perceived as H, although inefficiently applied due to cor-ruption. Ecotourism and impacts on sea turtles were perceived as VL, because they were deemed unprofitable activities at the individual and community levels. Environmental education was perceived as L, because it cen-ters on nesting, hatching and releasing turtles and is directed at elementary and middle-school students. While fishers perceive a serious negative impact of fishing activities on sea turtles in the San Ignacio-Navachiste- Macapule area, they do not see themselves individually as part of the problem. Achieving sea turtle conserva-tion in this region requires: suitable ecotourism infrastructure, government investments in promotion, and stud-ies to estimate the minimum number of tourists needed to assure profitability.

Interim Outcomes and Adverse Events among Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Patients Treated with Bedaquiline in the Philippines

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the interim outcomes for drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) patients treated with bedaquiline regimen under the operational research conditions compared to DR-TB patients treated without bedaquiline in their regimen, and to describe the adverse events that occurred among patients treated with bedaquiline in the Philippines. Design: Patients who were treated with a bedaquiline-containing regimen from June 2016 to May 2017 were included in this study as the intervention group, while patients who were treated without bedaquiline regimen from January 2013 to May 2016 were included as the comparison group. The interim treatment outcomes were compared using chi-square test. The analysis of time to culture conversion within 6 months of treatment was conducted. A cox proportional hazard model was constructed to identify the variables associated with a favorable interim treatment outcome. The R program was used for statistical analysis. Results: On the 6th month of treatment, the culture conversion for patients treated with a bedaquiline-containing regimen was significantly higher than with the comparison group [63/75 (84.0%) vs 84/117 (71.8%), p = 0.012)]. Nearly 15% of the patients treated with bedaquiline were lost to follow-up. Frequent adverse events included vomiting, dizziness, nausea, joint pain, and abdominal pain. conclusion: The patients who were treated with bedaquiline-containing regimen have better interim treatment outcomes than those treated without bedaquiline, but the proportion of patients who were lost to follow-up remains substantial.
