Performance comparison of novel chemical agents in improving oil recovery from tight sands through spontaneous imbibition

Tight sands are abundant in nanopores leading to a high capillary pressure and normally a low fluid injectivity.As such,spontaneous imbibition might be an effective mechanism for improving oil recovery from tight sands after fracturing.The chemical agents added to the injected water can alter the interfacial properties,which could help further enhance the oil recovery by spontaneous imbibition.This study explores the possibility of using novel chemicals to enhance oil recovery from tight sands via spontaneous imbibition.We experimentally examine the effects of more than ten different chemical agents on spontaneous imbibition,including a cationic surfactant(C12 TAB),two anionic surfactants(0242 and 0342),an ionic liquid(BMMIM BF4),a high pH solution(NaBO2),and a series of house-made deep eutectic solvents(DES3-7,9,11,and 14).The interfacial tensions(IFT)between oil phase and some chemical solutions are also determined.Experimental results indicate that both the ionic liquid and cationic surfactant used in this study are detrimental to spontaneous imbibition and decrease the oil recovery from tight sands,even though cationic surfactant significantly decreases the oil-water IFT while ionic liquid does not.The high pH NaBO2 solution does not demonstrate significant effect on oil recovery improvement and IFT reduction.The anionic surfactants(O242 and O342)are effective in enhancing oil recovery from tight sands through oil-water IFT reduction and emulsification effects.The DESs drive the rock surface to be more water-wet,and a specific formulation(DES9)leads to much improvement on oil recovery under counter-current imbibition condition.This preliminary study would provide some knowledge about how to optimize the selection of chemicals for improving oil recovery from tight reservoirs.

Mott Gap Filling by Doping Electrons through Depositing One Sub-Monolayer Thin Film of Rb on Ca_(2)CuO_(2)Cl_(2)

Understanding the doping evolution from a Mott insulator to a superconductor probably holds the key to resolve the mystery of unconventional superconductivity in copper oxides. To elucidate the evolution of the electronic state starting from the Mott insulator, we dose the surface of the parent phase Ca_(2)CuO_(2)Cl_(2) by depositing Rb atoms, which are supposed to donate electrons to the CuO_(2) planes underneath. We successfully achieved the Rb sub-monolayer thin films in forming the square lattice. The scanning tunneling microscopy or spectroscopy measurements on the surface show that the Fermi energy is pinned within the Mott gap but close to the edge of the charge transfer band. In addition, an in-gap state appears at the bottom of the upper Hubbard band(UHB), and the Mott gap will be significantly diminished. Combined with the Cl defect and the Rb adatom/cluster results, the electron doping is likely to increase the spectra weight of the UHB for the double occupancy. Our results provide information to understand the electron doping to the parent compound of cuprates.

自20世纪60年代地理信息系统理论、技术和软硬件系统产生以来,已经在传统地学以及数字城市、智能交通、高科技战争等领域得到广泛应用。在全世界范围内,智能化矿山、智能化工厂的建设是大势所趋,与此相关的厂房、设备、零部件、工作环境也属于地理空间对象,而且这些实体之间也存在空间关系。为此,基于智能化矿山、智能化工厂日常生产对象的时空特性和管控需求,结合数字孪生、工业控制、大数据分析等技术,本文提出了工业地理信息系统IGIS(Industry Geographic Information System)的概念及数据模型,并在工业智能化的背景下,构建了包括设备层、数据采集传输层、IGIS平台层、业务服务层和应用决策层的框架体系。针对数据标准规范、时空数据协同处理、工业环境数字孪生、工业设备数字孪生、时空数据智能分析和组态控制等关键技术问题提出了解决方案,为实现智能化矿山、智能化工厂宏观微观空间对象的一体化拓扑表达、存储、分析和协同控制提供了统一的时态地理信息系统(TGIS)远程管控平台。该平台已经在中国多对煤矿的矿井和选煤厂得到了初步应用,验证了系统的实用性和可行性。

Petrogenesis and Tectonic Implications of the Tertiary Choke Shield Basalt and Continental Flood Basalt from the Central Ethiopian Plateau

The voluminous Choke Shield basalts and flood basalts are distributed in the central Ethiopian Plateau.They are tholeiitic in composition and have OIB-like geochemical features.The ca.23 Ma Choke Shield basalts have SiO_(2)(47.1 wt.%-59.6 wt.%),MgO(1.01 wt.%-7.8 wt.%),Na_(2)O+K_(2)O(2.7 wt.%-8.4 wt.%),and display right inclined REE patterns((La/Yb)N=21.4-24.2) with enrichment of Nb,Ta,Zr,Hf and Pb in the primitive mantle-normalized trace element diagrams.They show low initial ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.703 47-0.703 77) and high ε_(Nd)(t) values(+4.4 to+5.0).In comparison,the 24Ma high-Ti(HT1) flood basalts have SiO_(2)(38.9 wt.%-50.8 wt.%),MgO(3.9 wt.%-11.4 wt.%),Na_(2)O+K_(2)O(1.6 wt.%-5.8 wt.%), and display right inclined REE patterns((La/Yb)N=24-130.3) with enrichment of Nb,Ta,Zr,Hf,and Pb.They also show low initial ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.703 30-0.704 44) and highε_(Nd)(t) values(+2.2 to+5.3).Both types of basalts were contaminated by minor crustal materials and underwent fractional crystallization of clinopyroxene,plagioclase,olivine,and minor Fe-Ti oxide.The Choke Shield basalts were generated by 1%-5% melting of garnet-spinel to phlogopite-bearing spinel lherzolite in a shallow zone of the mantle plume,while the flood basalts were formed by lite in a deeper zone of the same mantle plume.The mantle source beneath the central Ethiopian Plateau was significantly heterogeneous during the Tertiary.It was characterized by EMI and EMII end-members that were formed by the metasomatism of the different components.

为了提升无人机安全飞行性,提升线路运维能力,基于YOLOv5深度学习算法,提出了一种无人机单目测距方法,用于实现一种精确的辅助距离测量功能。对现有的开源绝缘子数据集进行了扩充和标定,采用YOLOv5s模型进行了训练、验证和测试,建立了绝缘子串的测距模型,设计代码加入到检测模块中,实现对绝缘子的识别和测距。实验结果表明,该模型能够准确识别输电线路不同类型的绝缘子并进行精确测距,平均测距误差为4.76%;对复合绝缘子的识别和测距效果最佳,改变俯仰角和相对距离,最大测距误差为6%;在不同天气条件下,亮度变化越大,对绝缘子的识别测距误差也越大,亮度增加至100%时,误差最高可达到12.3%。测距所需平均时间为0.2984 s,可以实现高效、高精度测距,为无人机巡检安全距离测量提供支持。

Rethinking the necessity of low glucose intervention for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

Glucose is the essential and almost exclusive metabolic fuel for the brain.Ischemic stroke caused by a blockage in one or more cerebral arteries quickly leads to a lack of regional cerebral blood supply resulting in severe glucose deprivation with subsequent induction of cellular homeostasis disturbance and eventual neuronal death.To make up ischemiamediated adenosine 5′-triphosphate depletion,glucose in the ischemic penumbra area rapidly enters anaerobic metabolism to produce glycolytic adenosine 5′-triphosphate for cell survival.It appears that an increase in glucose in the ischemic brain would exert favorable effects.This notion is supported by in vitro studies,but generally denied by most in vivo studies.Clinical studies to manage increased blood glucose levels after stroke also failed to show any benefits or even brought out harmful effects while elevated admission blood glucose concentrations frequently correlated with poor outcomes.Surprisingly,strict glycaemic control in clinical practice also failed to yield any beneficial outcome.These controversial results from glucose management studies during the past three decades remain a challenging question of whether glucose intervention is needed for ischemic stroke care.This review provides a brief overview of the roles of cerebral glucose under normal and ischemic conditions and the results of managing glucose levels in non-diabetic patients.Moreover,the relationship between blood glucose and cerebral glucose during the ischemia/reperfusion processes and the potential benefits of low glucose supplements for non-diabetic patients are discussed.

Toward accurate density and interfacial tension modeling for carbon dioxide/water mixtures

Phase behavior of carbon dioxide/water binary mixtures plays an important role in various CO2-based industry processes. This work aims to screen a thermodynamic model out of a number of promising candidate models to capture the vapor–liquid equilibria, liquid–liquid equilibria, and phase densities of CO2/H2O mixtures. A comprehensive analysis reveals that Peng–Robinson equation of state (PR EOS) (Peng and Robinson 1976), Twu α function (Twu et al. 1991), Huron–Vidal mixing rule (Huron and Vidal 1979), and Abudour et al. (2013) volume translation model (Abudour et al. 2013) is the best model among the ones examined;it yields average absolute percentage errors of 5.49% and 2.90% in reproducing the experimental phase composition data and density data collected in the literature. After achieving the reliable modeling of phase compositions and densities, a new IFT correlation based on the aforementioned PR EOS model is proposed through a nonlinear regression of the measured IFT data collected from the literature over 278.15–477.59 K and 1.00–1200.96 bar. Although the newly proposed IFT correlation only slightly improves the prediction accuracy yielded by the refitted Chen and Yang (2019)’s correlation (Chen and Yang 2019), the proposed correlation avoids the inconsistent predictions present in Chen and Yang (2019)’s correlation and yields smooth IFT predictions.

First record of Middle Eocene elephant ancestors' footprints in the Gonjo Basin， East Tibet Plateau

It is the first time that the fossil footprints of a group of middle Eocene elephant ancestors have been discovered in the Gonjo Basin， east Tibet Plateau. The Gonjo Formation is attributed to the middle Eocene epoch (U-Pb age = 44.7 ± 1.2 Ma) and consists mainly of purplish-red， medium- to coarse-grained sandstones， siltstones interbedded with mudstones， and conglomerates with sedimentary structures like ripple marks， rip-up clasts， and trough-cross bedding， suggesting fluvial-lacustrine systems. The group of fossil footprints has a characteristic oval-concave shape， and the toe impressions are absent. Some fossil footprints are overstepped with a pockmarked texture resembling Proboscipeda enigmatica. More than 165 fossil footprints of the group are relatively well-preserved with different diameters， which is evidence of highly social behavior and trackmakers of different ages， including calves， juveniles， adolescents， and adults. The size frequency of the fossil footprints enabled us to deduce the body mass， shoulder height， and hip-height distribution of the trackmakers that crossed the east Tibet Plateau 44.7 million years ago. The trackmakers comprised an estimated average hip-height of 111.8 cm， an average shoulder height of 172.8 cm for males/155.9 cm for females， and an average body mass of approximately 1218.1 kg for males/907.8 kg for females. The abundance of fossil footprints reveals that in the middle Eocene epoch， the environment was extraordinarily conducive for the elephant ancestors to live in the East Tibet region.

Stabilization of nickel nanoparticle suspensions with the aid of polymer and surfactant: static bottle tests and dynamic micromodel flow tests

Nickel nanoparticles can work as catalyst for the aquathermolysis reactions between water and heavy oil.A homogeneous and stable suspension is needed to carry the nickel nanoparticles into deeper reservoirs.This study conducts a detailed investigation on how to achieve stabilized nickel nanoparticle suspensions with the use of surfactant and polymer.To stabilize the nickel nanoparticle suspension,three surfactants including sodium dodecyl sulfate,cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and polyoxyalkalene amine derivative(Hypermer) along with xanthan gum polymer were introduced into the nickel nanoparticle suspension.Static stability tests and zeta potential measurements were conducted to determine the polymer/surfactant recipes yielding the most stable nickel nanoparticle suspensions.Dynamic micromodel flow tests were also conducted on three suspensions to reveal how the nickel nanoparticles would travel and distribute in porous media.Test results showed that when the injection was initiated,most nickel nanoparticles were able to pass through the gaps between the sand grains and produced in the outlet of the micromodel;only a small number of the nickel nanoparticles were attached to the grain surface.A higher nickel concentration in the suspension may lead to agglomeration of nickel nanoparticles in porous media,while a lower concentration can mitigate this agglomeration.Moreover,clusters tended to form when the nickel nanoparticle suspension carried an electrical charge opposite to that of the porous media.Follow-up waterflood was initiated after the nanofluid injection.It was found that the waterflood could not flush away the nanoparticles that were remaining in the micromodel.
