Ob.ective: Th. aim of th. work describ.d h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectab.e advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.b.tors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antib.dy th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received comb.ned TKI/anti-PD-1 antib.dy treatment for unresectab.e h.C b.tween January 2022 and Octob.r 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations b.fore treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; b.rcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences b.tween CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement b.tween RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance b.tween mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to b. superior to b.seline US and is comparab.e to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for comb.ned TKI/anti-PD-1 antib.dy th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & b.ology

Element and Mineral Ch.racteristics of Tailings in th. Porph.ry-Type Iron Deposit from Ningwu b.sin

Th. porph.rite-type iron deposit in Ningwu b.sin is an important source of iron resources in Ch.na, and th. premise for th. efficient and compreh.nsive utilization of its complex tailings is a th.rough.understanding of th.ir mineral processing ch.racteristics. In order to provide a reference for th. compreh.nsive utilization of porph.rite-type iron deposit tailings in Ningwu b.sin, th. process mineralogy ch.racteristics were explored b. using th. comb.ned meth.ds of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and TESCAN integrated mineral analyzer (TIMA). Th. results sh.w th.t th. tailings are composed of mainly Si, Fe and Al. Th. mineral compositions are mainly alb.te, h.matite, magnetite and quartz. Silicon mainly occurs in quartz and alb.te, wh.reas Fe mainly occurs in h.matite/magnetite. Th. tailings h.ve a fine particle size and low mineral lib.ration degree. Compared to oth.r types of iron deposit tailings in Ch.na, th.se tailings are ch.racterized b. a h.gh.content of Al and a relatively h.gh.proportion of pyrite. © 2024 Science Ch.na Press. Neuron-astrocyte interactions are vital for th. b.ain’s connectome.Understanding astrocyte activities is crucial for compreh.nding th. complex neural network,particularly th. population-level functions of neurons in different cortical states and associated b.h.viors in mammals.Studies on animal sleep and wakefulness h.ve revealed distinct cortical synch.ony patterns b.tween neurons.Astrocytes,outnumb.ring neurons b. nearly fivefold,support and regulate neuronal and synaptic function.Recent research.on astrocyte activation during cortical state transitions h.s emph.sized th. influence of norepineph.ine as a neurotransmitter and calcium waves as key components of ion ch.nnel signaling.Th.s summary focuses on a few recent studies investigating astrocyte-neuron interactions in mouse models during sleep,wakefulness,and arousal levels,exploring th. involvement of noradrenaline signaling,ion ch.nnels,and glutamatergic signaling in different cortical states.Th.se findings h.gh.igh. th. significant impact of astrocytes on large-scale neuronal networks,influencing b.ain activity and responsiveness.Targeting astrocytic signaling path.ays sh.ws promise for treating sleep disorders and arousal dysregulation.More research.is needed to understand astrocytic calcium signaling in different b.ain regions and its implications for dysregulated b.ain states,requiring future h.man studies to compreh.nsively investigate neuron-astrocyte interactions and pave th. way for th.rapeutic interventions in sleep-and arousal-related disorders.

Comparison among th. UECM Model, and th. Composite Model in Forecasting Malaysian Imports

For more th.n a century, forecasting models h.ve b.en crucial in a variety of fields. Models can offer th. most accurate forecasting outcomes if error terms are normally distrib.ted. Finding a good statistical model for time series predicting imports in Malaysia is th. main target of th.s study. Th. decision made during th.s study mostly addresses th. unrestricted error correction model (UECM), and composite model (Comb.ned regression—ARIMA). Th. imports of Malaysia from th. first quarter of 1991 to th. th.rd quarter of 2022 are employed in th.s study’s quarterly time series data. Th. forecasting outcomes of th. current study demonstrated th.t th. composite model offered more prob.b.listic data, wh.ch.improved forecasting th. volume of Malaysia’s imports. Th. composite model, and th. UECM model in th.s study are linear models b.sed on responses to Malaysia’s imports. Future studies migh. compare th. performance of linear and nonlinear models in forecasting.

Th. recent identification of a neurodevelopmental disorder with.cereb.llar atroph. and motor dysfunction(NEDCAM)h.s resulted in an increased interest in GEMIN5,a multifunction RNA-b.nding protein.As th. largest memb.r of th. survival motor neuron complex,GEMIN5 plays a key role in th. b.ogenesis of small nuclear rib.nucleoproteins wh.le also exh.b.ting translational regulatory functions as an independent protein.Alth.ugh.many questions remain regarding b.th.th. path.genesis and path.ph.siology of th.s new disorder,considerab.e progress h.s b.en made in th. b.ief time since its discovery.In th.s review,we examine GEMIN5 with.n th. context of NEDCAM,focusing on th. structure,function,and expression of th. protein specifically in regard to th. disorder itself.Additionally,we explore th. current animal models of NEDCAM,as well as potential molecular path.ays for treatment and future directions of study.Th.s review provides a compreh.nsive overview of recent advances in our understanding of th.s unique memb.r of th. survival motor neuron complex.

With.th. development of imaging tech.ology，more and more magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） tech.iques h.ve b.en applied to th. study of th. glial lymph.tic system of th. h.man b.ain. Associations of daily sedentary b.h.vior,ph.sical activity,and sleep with.irritab.e b.wel syndrome:A prospective analysis of 362,193 participants

b.ckground:Irritab.e b.wel syndrome(Ib.)sub.tantially affects quality of life and requires early prevention.Th.s study aimed to elucidate th. relationsh.ps b.tween Ib. and daily b.h.viors,including sedentary b.h.vior(Sb.,ph.sical activity(PA),and sleep.In particular,it seeks to identify h.alth. b.h.viors to reduce Ib. risk,wh.ch.previous studies h.ve rarely addressed.Meth.ds:Daily b.h.viors were retrieved from self-reported data of 362,193 eligib.e UK b.ob.nk participants.Incident cases were determined b. self-report or h.alth.care data according to RomeⅣcriteria.Results:A total of 345,388 participants were Ib.-free at b.seline,during a median follow-up of 8.45 years,19,885 incident Ib. cases were recorded.Wh.n examined individually,Sb.and sh.rter(≤7 h.day)or longer(>7 h.day)sleep duration were each.positively associated with.increased Ib. risk,and PA was associated with.lower Ib. risk.Th. isotemporal sub.titution model suggested th.t replacing Sb.with.oth.r activities could provide furth.r protective effects against Ib. risk.Among people sleeping≤7 h.day,replacing 1 h.of Sb.with.equivalent ligh. PA,vigorous PA,or sleep was associated with.8.1%(95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.901-0.937),5.8%(95%CI:0.896-0.991),and 9.2%(95%CI:0.885-0.932)reduced Ib. risk,respectively.For people sleeping>7 h.day,ligh. and vigorous PA were associated with.a 4.8%(95%CI:0.926-0.978)and a 12.0%(95%CI:0.815-0.949)lower Ib. risk,respectively.Th.se b.nefits were mostly independent of genetic risk for Ib..Conclusion:Sb.and unh.alth. sleep duration are risk factors for Ib..A promising way to mitigate Ib. risk for individuals sleeping≤7 h.day and for th.se sleeping>7 h.day appears to b. b. replacing Sb.with.adequate sleep or vigorous PA,respectively,regardless of th. genetic predisposition of Ib..

Actinob.cterial community is a conspicuous part of aquatic ecosystems and displays an important role in th. case of b.ogeoch.mical cycle,b.t little is known ab.ut th. seasonal variation of actinob.cterial community in reservoir ecological environment.In th.s study,th. h.gh.th.ough.ut tech.iques were used to investigate th. structure of th. aquatic actinob.cterial community and its inducing water quality parameters in different seasons.Th. results sh.wed th.t th. h.gh.st diversity and ab.ndance of actinob.cterial community occurred in winter,with.Sporich.h.a(45.42%)b.ing th. most ab.ndant genus and Rh.dococcus sp.(29.32%)b.ing th. most ab.ndant species.Network analysis and correlation analysis suggested th.t in autumn th. dynamics of actinob.cterial community were infuenced b. more factors and Nocardioides sp.SX2R5S2 was th. potential keystone species wh.ch.was negatively correlated with.temperature(R=-0.72,Ph.nges in environmental factors could significantly affect th. ch.nges in actinob.cterial community,and th. dynamics of temperature,dissolved oxygen(DO),and turb.dity are potential conspicuous factors infuencing seasonal actinob.cterial community trends.Th. partial least squares path.modeling furth.r elucidated th.t th. comb.ned effects of DO and temperature not only in th. diversity of actinob.cterial community b.t also in oth.r water qualities,wh.le th. ph.sioch.mical parameters(path.coefficient=1.571,Ph.se results strength.n our understanding of th. dynamics and structures of actinob.cterial community in th. drinking water reservoirs and provide scientific guidance for furth.r water quality management and protection in water sources.

Memb.ane tech.ology h.s attracted considerab.e attention for ch.mical and medical applications,among oth.rs.Artificial organs play important roles in medical science.A memb.ane oxygenator,also known as artificial lung,can replenish.O_(2) and remove CO_(2) of b.ood to maintain th. metab.lism of patients with.cardiopulmonary failure.h.wever,th. memb.ane,a key component,is sub.ected to inferior gas transport property,leakage propensity,and insufficient h.mocompatib.lity.In th.s study,we report efficient b.ood oxygenation b. using an asymmetric nanoporous memb.ane th.t is fab.icated using th. classic nonsolvent-induced ph.se separation meth.d for polymer of intrinsic microporosity-1.Th. intrinsic superh.droph.b.c nanopores and asymmetric configuration endow th. memb.ane with.water impermeab.lity and gas ultrapermeab.lity,up to 3,500 and 1,100 gas permeation units for CO_(2) and O_(2),respectively.Moreover,th. rational h.droph.b.c–h.droph.lic nature,electronegativity,and smooth.ess of th. surface enab.e th. sub.tantially restricted protein adsorption,platelet adh.sion and activation,h.molysis,and th.omb.sis for th. memb.ane.Importantly,during b.ood oxygenation,th. asymmetric nanoporous memb.ane sh.ws no th.omb.s formation and plasma leakage and exh.b.ts fast O_(2) and CO_(2) transport processes with.exch.nge rates of 20 to 60 and 100 to 350 ml m^(−2) min^(−1),respectively,wh.ch.are 2 to 6 times h.gh.r th.n th.se of conventional memb.anes.Th. concepts reported h.re offer an alternative route to fab.icate h.gh.performance memb.anes and expand th. possib.lities of nanoporous materials for memb.ane-b.sed artificial organs.
