Research on Evacuation Path Planning Based on Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm

Reducing casualties and property losses through effective evacuation route planning has been a key focus for researchers in recent years.As part of this effort,an enhanced sparrow search algorithm(MSSA)was proposed.Firstly,the Golden Sine algorithm and a nonlinear weight factor optimization strategy were added in the discoverer position update stage of the SSA algorithm.Secondly,the Cauchy-Gaussian perturbation was applied to the optimal position of the SSA algorithm to improve its ability to jump out of local optima.Finally,the local search mechanism based on the mountain climbing method was incorporated into the local search stage of the SSA algorithm,improving its local search ability.To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm,the Whale Algorithm,Gray Wolf Algorithm,Improved Gray Wolf Algorithm,Sparrow Search Algorithm,and MSSA Algorithm were employed to solve various test functions.The accuracy and convergence speed of each algorithm were then compared and analyzed.The results indicate that the MSSA algorithm has superior solving ability and stability compared to other algorithms.To further validate the enhanced algorithm’s capabilities for path planning,evacuation experiments were conducted using different maps featuring various obstacle types.Additionally,a multi-exit evacuation scenario was constructed according to the actual building environment of a teaching building.Both the sparrow search algorithm and MSSA algorithm were employed in the simulation experiment for multiexit evacuation path planning.The findings demonstrate that the MSSA algorithm outperforms the comparison algorithm,showcasing its greater advantages and higher application potential.

Numerical Simulation Analysis of the Transformer Fire Extinguishing Process with a High-Pressure Water Mist System under Different Conditions

To thoroughly study the extinguishing effect of a high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system when a transformer fire occurs,a 3D experimental model of a transformer is established in this work by employing Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS)software.More specifically,by setting different parameters,the process of the highpressure water mist fire extinguishing system with the presence of both diverse ambient temperatures and water mist sprinkler laying conditions is simulated.In addition,the fire extinguishing effect of the employed high-pressure water mist system with the implementation of different strategies is systematically analyzed.The extracted results show that a fire source farther away fromthe centerline leads to a lower local temperature distribution.In addition,as the ambient temperature increases,the temperature above the fire source decreases,while the temperature and the concentrationof theupperflue gas layer bothdecrease.Interestingly,after thehigh-pressurewatermist sprinkler begins to operate,both the temperature distribution above the fire source and the concentration of the flue gas decrease,which indicates that the high-pressure water mist system plays the role of cooling and dust removal.By comparing various sprinkler laying methods,it is found that the lower sprinkler height has a better effect on the temperature above the fire source,the temperature of the upper flue gas layer,and the concentration of the flue gas.Moreover,when the sprinkler is spread over thewhole transformer,the cooling effect on both the temperature above the fire source and the temperature of the upper flue gas layer is good,whereas the change in the concentration of the flue gas above the fire source is not obvious compared to the case where the sprinkler is not fully spread.

The learning curve for transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy for benign prostate hyperplasia:a single-surgeon experience of 494 patients

This study was performed to investigate the learning curve of transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy(TUEB)for benignprostatic hyperplasia.The study involved 494 consecutive patients who underwent TUEB for benign prostatic hyperplasia fromAugust 2018 to March 2022 by one surgeon(SJJ,Seoul National University Bundang Hospital,Seongnam,Korea).The patientswere followed up at 1 week,1 month,3 months,and 6 months postoperatively.To evaluate the learning curve of TUEB,perioperativeparameters including the enucleation ratio(enucleated tissue weight/transitional zone volume),TUEB efficiency(enucleatedtissue weight/operation time),and enucleation efficiency(enucleated tissue weight/enucleation time)were analyzed.Functionaloutcomes and postoperative complications were also assessed,including the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),IPSSquality-of-life(QoL)score,and uroflowmetry outcomes.The patients’median age was 72(interquartile range[IQR]:66–78)years,and the estimated prostate volume and transitional zone volume were 63.0(IQR:46.0–90.6)ml and 37.1(IQR:24.0–60.0)ml,respectively.The enucleation ratio,TUEB efficiency,and enucleation efficiency were 0.60(IQR:0.46–0.54)g ml−1,0.33(IQR:0.22–0.46)g min−1,and 0.50(IQR:0.35–0.72)g min−1,respectively,plateauing after 70 cases.The functional outcomes,including total IPSS,IPSS QoL score,and uroflowmetry outcomes,significantly improved at 6 months after TUEB(all P<0.05),but without significant differences over the learning curve.Sixty-five(13.2%)patients developed complications after TUEB,21.5%of whom experienced major complications(Clavien–Dindo grade≥3).The rate of major complications declined as the number ofTUEB cases increased(P=0.013).Our results suggest that the efficiency of TUEB stabilized within 70 procedures.

Elasto-inertial microfluidic separation of microspheres with submicron resolution at high-throughput

Elasto-inertial microfluidic separation offers many advantages including high throughput and separation resolution.Even though the separation efficiency highly depends on precise control of the flow conditions,no concrete guidelines have been reported yet in elasto-inertial microfluidics.Here,we propose a dimensionless analysis for precise estimation of the microsphere behaviors across the interface of Newtonian and viscoelastic fluids.Reynolds number,modified Weissenberg number,and modified elastic number are used to investigate the balance between inertial and elastic lift forces.Based on the findings,we introduce a new dimensionless number defined as the width of the Newtonian fluid stream divided by microsphere diameter.The proposed dimensionless analysis allows us to predict whether the microspheres migrate across the co-flow interface.The theoretical estimation is found to be in good agreement with the experimental results using 2.1-and 3.2-μm-diameter polystyrene microspheres in a co-flow of water and polyethylene oxide solution.Based on the theoretical estimation,we also realize submicron separation of the microspheres with 2.1 and 2.5μm in diameter at high throughput,high purity(>95%),and high recovery rate(>97%).The applicability of the proposed method was validated by separation of platelets from similar-sized Escherichia coli(E.coli).

The Persistence and Zonal Scale of Atmospheric Dipolar Modes

This study investigates the relationship between the persistence and the zonal scale of atmospheric dipolar modes(DMs). Results from the daily data of ERA5 and the long-term output of an idealized atmospheric model show that the atmospheric DMs with a broader(narrower) zonal scale dipolar structure possess a longer(shorter) persistence. A detailed vorticity budget analysis indicates that the persistence of a hemispheric-scale DM(1/1 DM) and a regional or sectoral DM(1/8 DM) in the model both largely rely on the persistence of the nonlinear eddy forcing. Linear terms can indirectly reduce the persistence of the anomalous nonlinear eddy forcing in a 1/8 DM by modifying the baroclinicity via the arousal of anomalous vertical motions. Therefore, the atmospheric DMs with a broader(narrower) zonal scale possess a longer(shorter) persistence because the effects of the linear terms are less(more) pronounced when the atmospheric DMs have better(worse) zonal symmetry. Further analyses show that the positive eddy feedback effect is weak or even absent in a 1/8DM and the high-frequency eddy forcing acts more like a concomitant phenomenon rather than a leading driving factor for a 1/8 DM. Thus, the hemispheric-scale DM and the regional or sectoral DMs are different, not only in their persistence but also in their dynamics.

In this paper,the problem of identifying autoregressive-moving-average systems under random threshold binary-valued output measurements is considered.With the help of stochastic approximation algorithms with expanding truncations,the authors give the recursive estimates for the parameters of both the linear system and the binary sensor.Under reasonable conditions,all constructed estimates are proved to be convergent to the true values with probability one,and the convergence rates are also established.A simulation example is provided to justify the theoretical results.

Background The poultry industry needs effective antibiotic alternatives to control outbreaks of necrotic enteritis(NE)caused by Clostridium perfringens.Methods The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with Macleaya cordata extract(MCE)on the immune function and gut microbiota of broilers with NE.A total of 2881-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to a 2×2 factorial arrangement with two concentrations of dietary MCE supplementation(0 or 350 mg/kg of diet)and two disease challenge statuses(control or NE).Results The results revealed that NE significantly increased the feed conversion rate(FCR),mortality,intestinal lesion score,the levels of IL-1β,IL-17 and IFN-γ/IL-4 in serum and IL-17/IL-10 in the jejunal mucosa,m RNA levels of TLR2,IFN-γand p Ig R in the jejunum,and Clostridium perfringens concentrations in the cecum.NE significantly decreased the body weight(BW),body weight gain(BWG),jejunal villus height,V/C,m RNA level of AMPK-α1 in jejunum,IL-4 level in the jejunal mucosa and lactic acid bacteria abundance in the cecum.MCE significantly increased BW,BWG,jejunal villus height,V/C,m RNA levels of occludin,ZO-1 and AMPK-α1 in the jejunum,the levels of Ig A and Ig G in serum and IL-10 in the jejunal mucosa and m RNA levels of NF-κB,IL-10 and MHC-II in the jejunum.Additionally,MCE significantly decreased the FCR,mortality,intestinal lesion score,jejunal crypt depth,the levels of IFN-γand IL-17 in serum and IL-17/IL-10 in the jejunal mucosa,Clostridium perfringens concentrations in the cecum,and m RNA levels of IL-17/IL-10 in the jejunum.Moreover,NE significantly increased the abundance of bacteria that are associated with inflammation,obesity and depression(Alistipes,Barnesiella,Intestinimonas,RF39 and UCG-005)and significantly decreased the abundance of short-chain fatty acid(SCFA)-producing bacteria(Anaerotruncus,Butyricicoccus and Bacteroides)in the cecum.MCE significantly increased the abundance of SCFA-producing bacteria(Streptococcus,Ruminococcus_torques_group

Self-healing Ga-based liquid metal/alloy anodes for rechargeable batteries

With the rapid development of electronics,electric vehicles,and grid energy storage stations,higher requirements have been put forward for advanced secondary batteries.Liquid metal/alloy electrodes have been considered as a promising development direction to achieve excellent electrochemical performance in metal-ion batteries,due to their specific advantages including the excellent electrode kinetics and self-healing ability against microstructural electrode damage.For conventional liquid batteries,high temperatures are needed to keep electrode liquid and ensure the high conductivity of molten salt electrolytes,which also brings the corrosion and safety issues.Ga-based metal/alloys,which can be operated at or near room temperature,are potential candidates to circumvent the above problems.In this review,the properties and advantages of Ga-based metal/alloys are summarized.Then,Ga-based liquid metal/alloys as anodes in various metal-ion batteries are reviewed in terms of their self-healing ability,battery configurations,working mechanisms,and so on.Furthermore,some views on the future development of Ga-based electrodes in batteries are provided.

Adaptation of Ocular Opponency Neurons Mediates Attention-Induced Ocular Dominance Plasticity

Previous research has shown that ocular dominance can be biased by prolonged attention to one eye.The ocular-opponency-neuron model of binocular rivalry has been proposed as a candidate account for this phenomenon.Yet direct neural evidence is still lacking.By manipulating the contrast of dichoptic testing gratings,here we measured the steady-state visually evoked potentials(SSVEPs)at the intermodulation frequencies to selectively track the activities of ocular-opponency-neurons before and after the“dichoptic-backward-movie”adaptation.One hour of adaptation caused a shift of perceptual and neural ocular dominance towards the unattended eye.More importantly,we found a decrease in the intermodulation SSVEP response after adaptation,which was significantly greater when high-contrast gratings were presented to the attended eye than when they were presented to the unattended eye.These results strongly support the view that the adaptation of ocular-opponency-neurons contributes to the ocular dominance plasticity induced by prolonged eye-based attention.
