Roll gap prediction in acceleration and deceleration process of cold rolling based on a data-driven method

Severe fluctuation of the effective roll gap in the acceleration and deceleration section of the cold rolling process is a significant factor causing thickness ***,the conventional roll gap compensation method and control strategy do not meet the stringent strip quality *** roll gap model in the acceleration and deceleration process is studied to increase the thickness control *** order to improve model accuracy,a roll gap prediction method based on data-driven is *** the complexities of the cold rolling process,the extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)method is used to predict the roll gap model as the rolling speed ***,support vector regression and neural network-based methods are taken to evaluate and compare the prediction *** on the field data,the simulation experiments are carried *** demonstrated that the prediction performance of the proposed method outperformed the other two *** values of root mean square error,determination coefficient value,mean absolute percentage error and mean absolute error obtained from the XGBoost model were equal to 0.000346,0.952,7.02,and 0.00028,*** addition,the proposed method analyzed the contribution rates of the rolling affecting parameters on the roll *** data showed that in the controllable rolling parameters,the rolling speed is the most impacting factor that disturbs the roll gap model in the acceleration and deceleration process,which can provide a useful direction for actual roll gap adjustment.

Hierarchical multihead self-attention for time-series-based fault diagnosis

Fault diagnosis is important for maintaining the safety and effectiveness of chemical *** the multivariate,nonlinear,and dynamic characteristic of chemical process,many time-series-based data-driven fault diagnosis methods have been developed in recent ***,the existing methods have the problem of long-term dependency and are difficult to train due to the sequential way of *** overcome these problems,a novel fault diagnosis method based on time-series and the hierarchical multihead self-attention(HMSAN)is proposed for chemical ***,a sliding window strategy is adopted to construct the normalized time-series ***,the HMSAN is developed to extract the time-relevant features from the time-series process *** improves the basic self-attention model in both width and *** the multihead structure,the HMSAN can pay attention to different aspects of the complicated chemical process and obtain the global dynamic ***,the multiple heads in parallel lead to redundant information,which cannot improve the diagnosis *** the hierarchical structure,the redundant information is reduced and the deep local time-related features are further ***,a novel many-to-one training strategy is introduced for HMSAN to simplify the training procedure and capture the long-term ***,the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by two chemical *** experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a great performance on time-series industrial data and outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches.

Resilient performance of self-centering hybrid rocking walls with curved interface under pseudo-static loading

Frame and rocking wall(FRW)structures have excellent resilient performance during ***,the concrete at interfacial corners of rocking walls(RWs)is easily crushed due to local extreme compression during the rocking *** innovative RW with a curved interface is proposed to prevent interfacial corners from producing local damage,enhancing its earthquake resilient performance(ERP).The precast wall panel with a curved interface is assembled into an integral self-centering hybrid rocking wall(SCRW)by two post-tensioned unbonded prestressed ***,two ordinary energy dissipation steel rebars and two shear reinforcements are arranged to increase the energy dissipation capacity and lateral *** SCRW specimens and one monolithic reinforced concrete(RC)shear wall(SW)were tested under pseudo-static loading to compare the ERPs of the proposed SCRW and the SW,focusing on studying the effect of the curved interface on the *** key resilient performance of rocking effects,failure modes,and hysteretic properties of the SCRW were *** results show that nonlinear deformations of the SCRW are concentrated along the interface between the SCRW and the foundation,avoiding damage within the *** restoring force provided by the prestressed tendons can effectively realize self-centering capacity with small residual deformation,and the resilient performance of the SCRW is better than that of monolithic *** addition,the curved interface of the SCRW makes the rocking center change and move inward,partially relieving the stress concentration and crush of *** rocking range of the rocking center is about 41.4%of the width of the SCRW.

Preparation of PVA/GO/h-BN Janus Film with High Thermal Conductivity and Excellent Flexibility via a Density Deposition Self-assembly Method

Janus films with asymmetric physical/chemical properties have attracted con siderable attention due to their promising applications in personal thermal management,electronic skin s,sensors,actuators,***,traditional methods for fabricating Janus films conventionally need the assistance of an interface or auxiliary equipment,which are usually complex and ***,flexible poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/graphene oxide(GO)/h-BN(recorded as PVA/GO/h-BN)Janus films with thermally,optically,and electrically anisotropic properties are fabricated by a simple density deposition self-assem bly method,which just utilizes the density difference between GO and h-BN during water *** results show that the two sides of the acquired Janus films have obvious asymmetric *** the original state of the PVA/GO/h-BN Janus films,the thermal conductivity of the GO side(10.06 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))is generally lower than that of the h-BN side(10.48W·m^(-1)·K^(-1)).But after GO is reduced,the thermal conductivity of the rGO side reaches 12.17 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1),surpassing that of the h-BN *** addition,the relative reflectance of the h-BN side of Janus film is also significantly higher than that of the rGO side,and the su rface resistance difference between the two sides is about 4 orders of *** prepared PVA/GO/h-BN Janus films show great application potential in human thermal management,light conversion switches,and electronic *** study provides a simple and versatile strategy for fabricating Janus films with multifunctional(such as thermal,optical,and electrical)anisotropies.

A residual denoising and multiscale attention-based weighted domain adaptation network for tunnel boring machine main bearing fault diagnosis

As a critical component of a tunnel boring machine(TBM),the precise condition monitoring and fault analysis of the main bearing is essential to guarantee the safety and efficiency of the TBM cutter ***,under conditions of strong noise and complex working environments,traditional signal decomposition and machine learning methods struggle to extract weak fault features and achieve high fault classification *** address these issues,we propose a novel residual denoising and multiscale attention-based weighted domain adaptation network(RDMA-WDAN)for TBM main bearing fault *** approach skillfully designs a deep feature extractor incorporating residual denoising and multiscale attention modules,achieving better domain adaptation despite significant domain *** residual denoising component utilizes a convolutional block to extract noise features,removing them via residual ***,the multiscale attention module uses a 4-branch convolution and 3 pooling strategy-based channel–spatial attention mechanism to extract multiscale features,concentrating on deep fault *** training,a weighting mechanism is introduced to prioritize domain samples with clear fault *** optimizes the deep feature extractor to obtain common features,enhancing domain adaptation.A low-speed and heavy-loaded bearing testbed was built,and fault data sets were established to validate the proposed *** experiments show that in noise domain adaptation tasks,proposed the RDMA–WDAN significantly improves target domain classification accuracy by 42.544%,23.088%,43.133%,16.344%,5.022%,and 9.233%over dense connection network(DenseNet),squeeze–excitation residual network(SE-ResNet),antinoise multiscale convolutional neural network(ANMSCNN),multiscale attention module-based convolutional neural network(MSAMCNN),domain adaptation network,and hybrid weighted domain adaptation(HWDA).In combined noise and working condition domain a

Placing metals within microwave ovens has been generally viewed as a dangerous practice because of occurrence of violent discharge,but in recent years such discharge phenomenon has attracted increasing attention and has enabled a variety of exciting *** this work,we provide a comprehensive review of fundamental understanding of microwave-metal discharge interaction and its state-of-the-art application for nanomaterials *** introduce the microscopic interaction between different categories of materials and the electric and magnetic field of *** microwave-metal interaction,we highlight its size-dependence and point out the influence of the oxide layer on the surface of *** discuss the required conditions for occurrence of discharge,microscopic formation mechanism,and characteristic features of microwave-metal discharge *** analyzing the influence from the microwave input,discharging metals,and surrounding discharging media,we discuss the strategy for systematical regulation of the discharge *** describe the applications of the microwave-metal discharge for facile synthesis of various functional nanomaterials including core-shell carbon/metal,metal oxides,metal chalcogenides,intermetallic compounds,metallic nanoparticles and metallic compounds,and organic ***,the challenges in precise characterization and dynamic regulation of the discharge process as well as exciting application opportunities are discussed.

Vortex identification based on the Liutex method and its effect on fish passage upstream

Fishway research is important for mitigating the fragmentation of river habitats caused by hydraulic *** vertical slit fishway is a broadly used fishway type because of its high efficiency and adaptability to water ***,the resulting vortex current disrupts the fish passage hence directly affecting fish *** study aims to accurately capture the vortex structure in the fishway and analyze the effect of vortex elements(vortex structure,vortex intensity,etc.)on *** conducted an analysis of the 3-D current flow field in the fishway through the utilization of an experimental model and the large eddy simulation(LES)***,we captured the vortex information in the fishway at different flow rates using the Liutex vortex identification method and investigated the effect of the vortex on fish *** results revealed that the structures inside the fishway pool occupy most of the room,however,the areas with higher vortex strength were primarily located in the vortex near the vertical seam and the mainstream,the vortex strength inside the fishway gradually increases with increasing flow,suppressing fish *** experienced significantly increased resistance when encountering strong *** suggests that the vortex may act as a physical barrier to fish *** findings highlight the potential negative effects of vortex on fish movement and reiterate the importance of understanding vortex dynamics for aquatic environmental *** an effective tool for identifying vortices in fluid flow,the Liutex method demonstrates features of vortex within the fishway,thereby providing important insights into the interaction between fluid dynamics and aquatic organisms.

The Effects of Thickness and Location of PCMon the Building’s Passive Temperature-Control–A Numerical Study

Building energy consumption and building carbon emissions both account for more than 20%of their total national values in *** employing phase change material(PCM)for passive temperature control shows a promising prospect in meeting the comfort demand and reducing energy consumption ***,there is a lack of more detailed research on the interaction between the location and thickness of PCM and indoor natural convection,as well as indoor temperature *** this study,the numerical model of a passive temperature-controlled building integrating the developed PCM module is established with the help of *** which,the actual weather condition of Beijing city is set as the boundary conditions and the indoor natural convection is simulated with the consideration of radiation *** effects of PCM’s thickness and location on the internal temperature field are analyzed and *** results show that the room could maintain within the human comfort temperature range with the longest ratio of 94.10%and the shortest ratio of 51.04%as integrating *** comparison,the value is only 26.70%without *** room’s maximum temperature fluctuation can also be improved;it could be lowered by 64.4%compared to the normal *** the quantity of PCM is sufficient,further increasing the PCM amount results in a temperature fluctuation reduction of less than 0.1°C and does not increase the comfort *** PCM on the wall induces an apparent variation in indoor temperature along the vertical ***,placing PCM on the roof can lead to a heat transfer rate difference of up to seven *** optimal placement of PCM depends on the difference between the environmental and phase change *** the difference is positive,placing PCM on the roof is more effective;conversely,the opposite *** to the results over the entire cycle,PCM application on vertical walls yields better *** significant diffe

Survey on performance of vertical slot and nature-like fishways at Angu hydropower station, Southwest China

To restore dam-blocked natural fish migratory passages,a growing number of artificial fishways have been built in water conservancy and hydropower projects in *** Angu hydropower station involved diverse important fish habitats in the lower reaches of the Daduhe River in Southwest ***,a vertical slot fishway(VSF)and a nature-like fishway(NLF)were built near the backwater area of the reservoir to connect the upstream and downstream *** and aquatic ecological surveys were conducted after the completion of the project to estimate the fish passing effect of the two *** results indicated that both fishways were in effective operation and could maintain the desired hydrodynamic conditions and be used by several local fish *** the survey,149 fish from 15 species and 111 fish from 17 species were captured by the traps in the VSF and NLF,respectively,while 1263 fish from 27 species were found in the downstream *** species captured in the VSF were not found in the NLF,and vice versa,which implied the different preferences of ***,3789 signals including 2099 upward ones and 1690 downward ones were monitored with an ultrasonic fish detector at the inlet of the *** findings revealed the characteristics of fish species observed in and near the fishways and provided valuable insights into the different fish passing capabilities of VSFandNLF.
