Necroptosis contributes to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease pathoetiology with promising diagnostic and therapeutic functions

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most prevalent type of chronic liver disease.However,the disease is underappreciated as a remarkable chronic disorder as there are rare managing strategies.Several studies have focused on determining NAFLD-caused hepatocyte death to elucidate the disease pathoe-tiology and suggest functional therapeutic and diagnostic options.Pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and necroptosis are the main subtypes of non-apoptotic regulated cell deaths(RCDs),each of which represents particular characteristics.Considering the complexity of the findings,the present study aimed to review these types of RCDs and their contribution to NAFLD progression,and subsequently discuss in detail the role of necroptosis in the pathoetiology,diagnosis,and treatment of the disease.The study revealed that necroptosis is involved in the occurrence of NAFLD and its progression towards steatohepatitis and cancer,hence it has potential in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.Nevertheless,further studies are necessary.

Rational cathode configuration with bilayer membranes to engineer current-collector-free high-areal-sulfur lithium-sulfur batteries

The application of light-weight current collectors is preferred because of the increased energy density of the batteries.Bearing it in mind,the cathode is designed with self-made paperlike memberane as current collector coupled with another interlayer to enable the high-energy-density lithium-sulfur batteries.Via a facile and green step-by-step methodology,the hybrid membrane is finalized successfully,consisting of reduced graphene oxide sheets covering paper-derived carbon(GPC)bearing Fe@Fe2O3 and Fe1−xS@Fe2O3 core-shell nanoparticles(FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC).The film works as the current collector and interlayer simultaneously considering the porous and conductive features.As demonstrated by the electrochemical testing,the FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC hybrid cell exhibits attractive cycling stability and superior rate capability.The cell configuration and structural/composition merits of FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC film facilitate the faster reaction kinetics,conducive to the improvement of capacity retention.In view of the effective cathode design,the areal sulfur loading is increased to 10.46 mg·cm^(−2)and a reversible capacity of 6.67 mAh·cm^(−2)can be retained after 60 cycles at 0.1 C.

Liquid lens based holographic camera for real 3D scene hologram acquisition using end-to-end physical model-driven network

With the development of artificial intelligence,neural network provides unique opportunities for holography,such as high fidelity and dynamic calculation.How to obtain real 3D scene and generate high fidelity hologram in real time is an urgent problem.Here,we propose a liquid lens based holographic camera for real 3D scene hologram acquisition using an end-to-end physical model-driven network(EEPMD-Net).As the core component of the liquid camera,the first 10 mm large aperture electrowetting-based liquid lens is proposed by using specially fabricated solution.The design of the liquid camera ensures that the multi-layers of the real 3D scene can be obtained quickly and with great imaging performance.The EEPMD-Net takes the information of real 3D scene as the input,and uses two new structures of encoder and decoder networks to realize low-noise phase generation.By comparing the intensity information between the reconstructed image after depth fusion and the target scene,the composite loss function is constructed for phase optimization,and the high-fidelity training of hologram with true depth of the 3D scene is realized for the first time.The holographic camera achieves the high-fidelity and fast generation of the hologram of the real 3D scene,and the reconstructed experiment proves that the holographic image has the advantage of low noise.The proposed holographic camera is unique and can be used in 3D display,measurement,encryption and other fields.

Chinese Medicine Combined with Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Improving Myelosuppression in Colorectal Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) combined with adjuvant chemotherapy on myelosuppression for colorectal cancer(CRC) patients using network meta-analysis(NMA). Methods: Literature searches in both international(PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) and Chinese(China Science and Technology Journal Database, Wanfang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure) databases for relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs) were conducted from inception until October 10, 2022. We included RCTs of patients who received CHM combined with chemotherapy, including FOLFOX, XELOX, FOLFIRI, and other relevant regimens in the CHM treatment group. The outcomes included the incidence of myelosuppression, leukopenia, hemoglobin reduction, and thrombocytopenia. Two reviewers independently screened the databases, extracted the data, and assessed the risk of bias and credibility of evidence. RevMan 5.4.1 software and STATA 14.0 were used to perform the NMA. Results: A total of 31 RCTs were included, published from 2008 to 2021 in Chinese. Among these, 2,314 participants comparing the following 9 CHMs were identified: Shengbai Recipe(SBR), Bazhen Decoction(BZD), Jianpi Jiedu Recipe(JJR), Jianpi Recipe(JR), Compound Cantharis Capsule(CCC), Zaofan Pill(ZFP), Guilu Erxian Gel(GL), Buzhong Tiaogan Decoction(BZ), and Qiamagu Capsule(QM). The results of NMA found an indirect comparison. Based on the surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA), the ZFP+ chemotherapy group had the lowest incidence of myelosuppression, with an odds ratio(OR) of 0.08 [95% confidence interval(CI): 0.01, 0.76], whereas the GL+ chemotherapy group had the lowest incidence of leukopenia, hemoglobin reduction, and thrombocytopenia, with an OR of 5.25(95% CI: 2.41, 11.43), 4.66(95% CI: 2.23, 9.72), and 0.27(95% CI: 0.13, 0.54), respectively. Moreover, BZD + chemotherapy could alleviate leukopenia, hemoglobin reduction, and thrombocytopenia(P<0.01). Pairwise comparison showed that there was no difference in the

Polydatin ameliorates hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury by modulating macrophage polarization

Background:Polydatin,a glucoside of resveratrol,has shown protective effects against various diseases.However,little is known about its effect on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury.This study aimed to elucidate whether polydatin protects liver against I/R-induced injury and to explore the underlying mechanism.Methods:After gavage feeding polydatin once daily for a week,mice underwent a partial hepatic I/R procedure.Serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)/aspartate aminotransferase(AST),hematoxylin-eosin(H&E)and TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)staining were used to evaluate liver injury.The severity related to the inflammatory response and reactive oxygen species(ROS)production was also investigated.Furthermore,immunofluorescence and Western blotting were used to detect macrophage polarization and the NF-κB signaling pathway in macrophages.Results:Compared with the I/R group,polydatin pretreatment significantly attenuated I/R-induced liver damage and apoptosis.The oxidative stress marker(dihydroethidium fluorescence,malondialdehyde,superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase)and I/R related inflammatory cytokines(interleukin1β,interleukin-10 and tumor necrosis factor-α)were significantly suppressed after polydatin treatment.In addition,the result of immunofluorescence indicated that polydatin reduced the polarization of macrophages toward M1 macrophages both in vivo and in vitro.Western blotting showed that polydatin inhibited the pro-inflammatory function of RAW264.7 via down-regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway.Conclusions:Polydatin protects the liver from I/R injury by remodeling macrophage polarization via NFκB signaling.

Lithium batteries have always played a key role in the field of new energy sources.However,non-controllable lithium dendrites and volume dilatation of metallic lithium in batteries with lithium metal as anodes have limited their development.Recently,a large number of studies have shown that the electrochemical performances of lithium batteries can be enhanced through the regulation of external physical fields.Especially,it significantly hinders the growth of lithium dendrites and promoting the reaction kinetics.This review summarizes recent innovations in the investigation of various physical fields of lithium batteries.The application of magnetic field in the synthesis of lithium battery electrode materials is introduced.The influence factors and regulation mechanism of various physical fields on the electrochemical performance of lithium batteries are reviewed emphatically.In addition,the current research status and existing challenges,along with future directions for the evolution of lithium batteries,are minutely discussed and prospected.New strategies for the further evolution of lithium batteries have also been provided.

As a material with good biocompatibility,hydroxyapatite（HAP） can have optical properties after doping with various rare earth ions.As a biocompatible fluorescent material,doped HAP could have broad applications in biological probes,drug delivery,optoelectronic materials,fluorescence anti-counterfeiting,and other aspects.In this paper,we put forward the preparation of HAP doped with terbium（Ⅲ） ions(Tb3+) by hydrothermal co-precipitation.By controlling the Tb3+doping content in reaction and the reaction time,the changes in HAP's structure,morphology,and luminescence properties under different conditions were studied.When the doping amount of Tb3+reached an optimal value,the dipole-quadrupole would occur and the concentration would be quenched.The control experiment showed that the optimal Tb3+content was 7.5 × 10-5mol,which showed the best fluorescence performance.HAP,a non-luminous material,was rarely used in the field of fluorescent anti-counterfeiting and photoelectric devices.We proposed to prepare a luminescent aramid/polyphenylene sulfide（ACFs/PPS） fiber paper and a new light-emitting diode（LED） using the Tb-doped HAP phosphor.The composite sample exhibited an excellent stability and fluorescence performance,which also demonstrated a possibility of HAP applications in anticounterfeiting and photoelectric.The introduction of Tb3+dopant HAP was done to give HAP optical properties and broaden the application range of HAP.

BACKGROUND The pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 subunitβ(PDHB)gene which regulates energy metabolism is located in mitochondria.However,few studies have elucidated the role and mechanism of PDHB in different cancers.AIM To comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of PDHB was performed based on bioinformatics approaches to explore its tumor diagnostic and prognostic value and tumor immune relevance in cancer.In vitro experiments were performed to examine the biological regulation of PDHB in liver cancer.METHODS Pan-cancer data related to PDHB were obtained from the Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database.Analysis of the gene expression profiles of PDHB was based on TCGA and Genotype Tissue Expression Dataset databases.Cox regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier methods were used to assess the correlation between PDHB expression and survival prognosis in cancer patients.The correlation between PDHB and receiver operating characteristic diagnostic curve,clinicopathological staging,somatic mutation,tumor mutation burden(TMB),microsatellite instability(MSI),DNA methylation,and drug susceptibility in pan-cancer was also analyzed.Various algorithms were used to analyze the correlation between PDHB and immune cell infiltration and tumor chemotaxis environment,as well as the co-expression analysis of PDHB and immune checkpoint(ICP)genes.The expression and functional phenotype of PDHB in single tumor cells were studied by single-cell sequencing,and the functional enrichment analysis of PDHB-related genes was performed.The study also validated the level of mRNA or protein expression of PDHB in several cancers.Finally,in vitro experiments verified the regulatory effect of PDHB on the proliferation,migration,and invasion of liver cancer.RESULTS PDHB was significantly and differently expressed in most cancers.PDHB was significantly associated with prognosis in patients with a wide range of cancers,including kidney renal clear cell carcinoma,kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma,breast invasive carcinoma,and brain lower grade glioma.In some cancers,P

Effect of Ti Particles on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ91 Magnesium Matrix Composites

Spherical micro-Ti particle(TiP)-reinforced AZ91 magnesium alloy composites were fabricated by semi-solid stirring assisted ultrasonic vibration,which were then subjected to hot extrusion.The microstructure results showed that the addition of Ti particles refined the grain size and decreased the texture intensity of the as-extruded AZ91 alloy.An Al3Ti phase with a thickness of 100 nm formed at the Ti/Mg interface,which had a non-coherent relationship with the magnesium matrix.The as-extruded 1 vol.%TiP/AZ91 composite exhibited the best comprehensive mechanical properties,with yield strength,ultimate tensile strength,and elongation at break of 366 MPa,456 MPa,and 14.6%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those of the AZ91 alloy.Therefore,the addition of Ti particles can improve the strength and ductility of the AZ91 alloy,demonstrating the value of magnesium matrix composites for commercial applications.

Mortality from cerebrovascular diseases in China:Exploration of recent and future trends

Background:Cerebrovascular disease(CVD)ranks among the foremost factors responsible for mortality on a global scale.The mortality patterns of CVDs and temporal trends in China need to be well-illustrated and updated.Methods:We collected mortality data on patients with CVD from Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Disease Surveillance Points(CDC-DSP)system.The mortality of CVD in 2020 was described by age,sex,residence,and region.The temporal trend from 2013 to 2019 was evaluated using joinpoint regression,and estimated rates of decline were extrapolated until 2030 using time series models.Results:In 2019,the age-standardized mortality in China(ASMRC)per 100,000 individuals was 113.2.The ASMRC for males(137.7/10^(5))and rural areas(123.0/10^(5))were both higher when stratified by gender and urban/rural residence.The central region had the highest mortality(126.5/10^(5)),the western region had a slightly lower mortality(123.5/10^(5)),and the eastern region had the lowest mortality(97.3/10^(5)).The age-specific mortality showed an accelerated upward trend from aged 55-59 years,with maximum mortality observed in individuals over 85 years of age.The age-standardized mortality of CVD decreased by 2.43%(95%confidence interval,1.02-3.81%)annually from 2013 to 2019.Notably,the age-specific mortality of CVD increased from 2013 to 2019 for the age group of over 85 years.In 2020,both the absolute number of CVD cases and the crude mortality of CVD have increased compared to their values in 2019.The estimated total deaths due to CVD were estimated to reach 2.3 million in 2025 and 2.4 million in 2030.Conclusion:The heightened focus on the burden of CVD among males,rural areas,the central and western of China,and individuals aged 75 years and above has emerged as a pivotal determinant in further decreasing mortalities,consequently presenting novel challenges to strategies for disease prevention and control.
