Abnormal DNA-PKcs and Ku 70/80 expression may promote malignant pathological processes in gastric carcinoma

Escalating threat of global warming and the steady growth in world population require the development of transformative greenhouse gas control technologies and food production systems of high energy efficiency,small environmental footprint and low *** control the global temperature rise below 2℃ by 2050,global greenhouse gas emissions need to be cut by more than 80%.At the same time,our land needs to be utilized more efficiently and productively in order to produce enough food to feed projected 9 billion people with less available land area for food production in *** propose to develop a modern urban vertical farming system,*** equipped with a Carbon Enrichment for Plant Stimulation(CEPS)system,to enhance land use efficiency and thus increase food productivity and,at the same time,to sequestrate CO_(2) from ambient *** deployment of such a CEPS system will have a potential to remove more than 500 million tonnes CO_(2) from air annually,and increase the current food productivity by more than 15 times than the open field *** deployment of the CEPS technology will also promote locally produced food,benefiting urban economical development and job creation.

The effects of supplementing 50%of the mineral N fertilizer with organic fertilizer on the metabolism and diversity of soil microbial communities in an oat field were investigated using Biolog-Eco *** experiment consisted of five treatments:no fertilizer(CK),mineral N fertilizer applied at 90 and 45 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of urea(U1 and U2,respectively),and U2 supplemented with organic fertilizer in the form of sheep manure at 90 and 45 kg ha^(-1) N(U2OM1 and U2OM2,respectively).Each treatment had three *** experiment was conducted in 2018 and 2019 in Pinglu District,Shanxi Province,*** carbon source utilization by soil microbial communities,such as amino acids,amines,carbohydrates,carboxylic acids,and polymers,increased when 50%of the mineral N fertilizer was replaced with organic fertilizer in both *** result was accompanied by increased richness,dominance,and evenness of the microbial *** utilization of amino acid,amine,and carboxylic acid carbon sources and community evenness were further improved when the organic fertilizer amount was doubled in both *** analysis indicated that amines and amino acids were the most representative of the total carbon source utilization by the soil microbial communities in both *** highest oat yield was achieved at a total N application rate of 135 kg ha^(-1) in the treatment involving 45 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of urea and 90 kg ha^(-1) N in the form of sheep manure in both *** was concluded that the application of 50%of the conventional rate of mineral N fertilizer supplemented with an appropriate rate of organic fertilizer enhanced both the functional diversity of soil microbial communities and oat *** and amino acid carbon sources may be used as a substitute for total carbon sources for assessing total carbon source utilization by soil microbial communities in oat fields in future studies.

AIM:To investigate the clinical features and prognostic factors of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)patients presenting with lung metastasis at initial diagnosis. METHODS:Between 2001 and 2010,we recruited 76 consecutive HCC patients initially presenting with lung metastasis,without co-existing metastasis from other *** patients were divided into three groups:untreated group(n=22),single treatment group(n= 19),and combined treatment group(n=35). RESULTS:Metastasis of bilateral lung lobes was common and noted in 35 patients(46.1%),and most of patients(59/76,77.6%)presented with multiple lung metastatic *** patients(25.0%) received single-method treatment,including hepatectomy in 4,transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in 6,radiotherapy in 5,and oral sorafenib in ***-five patients(46.1%)received combined treatment *** overall median survival of the all patients was 8.7±0.6 mo;4.1±0.3,6.3±2.5 and 18.6±3.9 mo, respectively in the untreated group,single treatment group and combined treatment group,respectively, with a significant difference(log-rank test,Plung metastasis. CONCluSION:Combined treatment modalities tend to result in a better survival as compared with the conservative treatment or single treatment modality for HCC patients initially presenting with lung metastasis.

AIM:To identify the predictive clinicopathological factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) in poorly differentiated early gastric cancer (EGC) and to further expand the possibility of using endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the treatment of poorly differentiated EGC. METHODS: Data were collected from 85 poorly- differentiated EGC patients who were surgically treated. Association between the clinicopathological factors and the presence of LNM was retrospectively analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. RESULTS: Univariate analysis showed that tumor size (OR = 5.814, 95% CI = 1.050 - 32.172, P = 0.044), depth of invasion (OR = 10.763, 95% CI = 1.259 - 92.026, P = 0.030) and lymphatic vessel involvement (OR = 61.697, 95% CI = 2.144 - 175.485, P = 0.007) were the significant and independent risk factors for LNM. The LNM rate was 5.4%, 42.9% and 50%, respectively, in poorly differentiated EGC patients with one, two and three of the risk factors, respectively. No LNM was found in 25 patients without the three risk factors. Forty-four lymph nodes were found tohave metastasis, 29 (65.9%) and 15 (34.1%) of the lymph nodes involved were within N1 and beyond N1, respectively, in 12 patients with LNM. CONCluSION: Endoscopic mucosal resection alone may be sufficient to treat poorly differentiated intramucosal EGC (≤ 2.0 cm in diameter) with no histologically-confirmed lymphatic vessel involvement. When lymphatic vessels are involved, lymph node dissection beyond limited (D1) dissection or D1+ lymph node dissection should be performed depending on the tumor location.

Li[Li0.2Ni0.13Coo.13Mn0.54]O2 cathode materials were synthesized by carbonate-based co-precipitation method, and then, its surface was coated by thin layers of FePO4. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, field emission scanning electron micro- scope （FESEM）, energy-dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）, and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. The XRD and TEM results suggest that both the pristine and the coated materials have a hexagonal layered structure, and the FePO4 coating layer does not make any major change in the crystal structure. The FePO4-coated sample exhibits both improved initial discharge capacity and columbic efficiency compared to the pristine one. More significantly, the FePO4 coating layer has a much positive influence on the cycling perfor- mance. The FePO4-coated sample exhibits capacity reten- tion of 82 % after 100 cycles at 0.5℃ between 2.0 and 4.8 V, while only 28 % for the pristine one at the same charge-discharge condition. The electrochemical impe- dance spectroscopy （EIS） results indicate that this improved cycling performance could be ascribed to the presence of FePO4 on the surface of Li[Li0.2Ni0.13Co0.13Mno.54102 par- ticle, which helps to protect the cathode from chemical attacks by HF and thus suppresses the large increase in charge transfer resistance.

Treatment and functional reconstruction after central nervous system injury is a major medical and social challenge. An increasing number of researchers are attempting to use neural stem cells combined with artificial scaffold materials, such as fibroin, for nerve repair. However, such approaches are challenged by ethical and practical issues. Amniotic tissue, a clinical waste product, is abundant, and amniotic epithe- lial cells are pluripotent, have low immunogenicity, and are not the subject of ethical debate. We hypothesized that amniotic epithelial cells combined with silk fibroin scaffolds would be conducive to the repair of spinal cord injury. To test this, we isolated and cultured amniotic epithelial cells, and constructed complexes of these cells and silk fibroin scaffolds. Implantation of the cell-scaffold complex into a rat model of spinal cord injury resulted in a smaller glial scar in the damaged cord tissue than in model rats that received a blank scaffold, or amniotic epithelial cells alone. In addition to a milder local immunological reaction, the rats showed less inflammatory cell infiltration at the trans- plant site, milder host-versus-graft reaction, and a marked improvement in motor function. These findings confirm that the transplantation of amniotic epithelial ceils combined with silk fibroin scaffold can promote the repair of spinal cord injury. Silk fibroin scaffold can provide a good nerve regeneration microenvironment for amniotic epithelial cells.

BACKGROUND： Cerebrospinal fluid can be an inducer for neural stem cells in vitro, but few studies employ cerebrospinal fluid to culture olfactory ensheathing cells. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the growth of nasal mucosa olfactory ensheathing cells in normal cerebrospinal fluid, and to analyze the feasibility of cerebrospinal fluid for culturing olfactory ensheathing cells used for transplantation. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A completely randomized, block design study was performed at the Cell Laboratory, Wuxi Third People＇s Hospital, and Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases, China, in August 2008. MATERIALS： Dulbecco＇s modified Eagle＇s medium/F12 （DMEM/F12） and fetal bovine serum （Gibco BRL, USA）, mouse anti-rat P75 monoclonal antibody and rabbit anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein polyclonal anti body （＇Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA）, mouse anti-rat myelin basic protein monoclonal antibody （Cymbus, UK）, mouse anti-rat microtubule-associated protein-2 monoclonal antibody （Transduction Laboratories, USA）, FITC conjugated rabbit anti-mouse monoclonal antibody （Boster, China）, TRITC conjugated goat anti-rabbit monoclonal antibody （Sigma, USA） were used. METHODS： Nasal mucosa olfactory ensheathing cells were separately incubated in DMEM/F12, cerebrospinal fluid, and changing DMEM/F12 into cerebrospinal fluid. Adult female Sprague Dawley rat models of spinal hemisection were established. Nerve injury was repaired by transplantation of nasal mucosa olfactory ensheathing cells cultured in cerebrospinal fluid or DMEM/F12. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： The proliferative ability of olfactory ensheathing cells cultured in cerebrospinal fluid was determined by a 3-（4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay.
