KOH activated carbon derived from biomass-banana fibers as an efficient negative electrode in high performance asymmetric supercapacitor

Here we demonstrate the fabrication, electrochemical performance and application of an asymmetric supercapacitor (As) device constructed with ss.ni(OH)(2)/MWCnTs as positive electrode and KOH activated honeycomb-like porous carbon (K-PC) derived from banana fibers as.negative electrode. Initially, the electrochemical performance of hydrothermally s.nthesized ss.ni(OH)(2)/MWCnTs.nanocomposite and K-PC was studied in a three-electrode system us.ng 1 M KOH. These materials exhibited a specific capacitance (Cs) of 1327 Fig and 324 F/g respectively at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. Further, the As device i.e., ss.ni(OH)(2)/MWCnTs// K-PC in 1 M KOH solution, demonstrated a Cs of 156 F/g at scan rate of 10 mV/s in a broad cell voltage of 0-2.2 V. The device demonstrated a good rate capability by maintaining a Cs of 59 F/g even at high current density (25 A/g). The device also offered high energy density of 63 Wh/kg with maximum power density of 5.2 kW/kg. The As device exhibited excellent cycle life with 100% capacitance retention at 5000th cycle at a high current density of 25 A/g. Two As devices connected in series were employed for powering a pair of LEDs of different colors and also a mini fan. Various hydrophilic poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol)(EVOH)were used herein to precisely control the structure and hydrodynamic properties of polysulfone(PsF)***,to prepare pristine PsF and PsF/EVOH blends with increas.ng vinyl alcohol(VOH:73%,68%,56%),the non-solvent-induced phase separation(nIPs)technique was *** glycol was used as a compatibilizer and as a porogen in n,*** and ultras.nic separation kinetic measurements were also carried out to develop an ultrafiltration membrane *** extracted membrane properties and filtration capabilities were systematically compared to the proposed ***,the addition of EVOH led to an increase in the rheology of the *** resulting membranes exhibited a microporous structure,while the finger-like structures became more evident with increas.ng VOH *** PsF/EVOH behavior was changed from immediate to delayed segregation due to a change in the hydrodynamic ***,the PsF/EVOH32 membranes showed high hydrophilicity and achieved a pure water permeability of 264 L·m^(–2)·h^(–1)·bar^(–1),which was higher than that of pure PsF membranes(171 L·m^(–2)·h^(–1)·bar^(–1)).In addition,PsF/EVOH32 rejected bovine serum albumin at a high rate(>90%)and achieved a significant restoration of ***,from the thermodynamic and hydrodynamic results,valuable insights into the selection of hydrophilic copolymers were provided to tailor the membrane structure while improving both the permeability and antifouling performance.

Electronic band energy of a bent ZnO piezoelectric semiconductor nanowire

The electric band energy variation in a bent piezoelectric semiconductor(PsC) nanowire of circular cross-section induced by the mechanical force is analyzed based on a six-band k · p method. The electric-mechanical fields are first obtained analytically in a cantilever bent PsC nanowire by solving the fully-coupled electro-mechanical equations. Then, the band energy is acquired numerically via the six-band *** considering further the nonlinear coupling between the piezoelectric and semiconducting quantities, the contribution of the redistribution carriers to the electric field is analyzed from the Gauss’ s law. numerical examples are carried out for an n-type Zn O nanowire in different locations induced by an applied concentrated end force. They include the electric potential, heavy hole(HH), light hole(LH), spin-orbit split-off(sO),and conduction band(CB) edges along the axial and thickness directions. Our results show that the applied force has a significant effect on the band energies. For instance, on the bottom surface along the axial direction, the bandgaps.near the fixed end are greater than those near the loading end, and this trend is reversed on the top surface. Moreover,at a fixed axial location, the energy level of the lower side can be enhanced by applying a bending force at the end. The pres.nt results could be of significant guidance to the electronic devices and piezotronics.

Recently,phage display technology has been announced as the recipient of nobel Prize in Chemistry *** display technique allows high affinity target-binding peptides to be selected from a complex mixture pool of billions of displayed peptides on phage in a combinatorial library and could be further enriched through the biopanning process;proving to be a powerful technique in the screening of peptide with high affinity and *** this review,we will first discuss the modifications in phage display techniques used to isolate various cancer-specific ligands by in situ,in vitro,in vivo,and ex vivo screening *** will then discuss prominent examples of solid tumor targeting-peptides.namely peptide targeting tumor vasculature,tumor microenvironment(TME)and overexpressed receptors on cancer cells identified through phage display *** will also discuss the current challenges and future outlook for targeting peptidebased therapeutics in the clinics.

Kinetic hydrate inhibitor performance of new copolymer poly(n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone-co-2-vinyl pyridine)s with TBAB

In oil and gas field, the application of kinetic hydrate inhibitors （KHIs） independently has remained problematic in high subcooling and high water-cut situation. One feasible method to resolve this problem is the combined use of KHIs and some s.nergists, which would enhance KHIs’ inhibitory effect on both hydrate nucleation and hydrate crystal growth. In this study, a novel kind of KHI copolymer poly（n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone-co-2-vinyl pyridine）s （HGs） is used in conjunction with TBAB to show its high performance on hydrate inhibition. The performance of HGs with different monomer ratios in structure II tetrahydrofuran （THF） hydrate is investigated us.ng kinetic hydrate inhibitor evaluation apparatus by step-cooling method and isothermal cooling method. With the combined gas hydrate inhibitor at the concentration of 1.0 wt%, the induction time of 19 wt% THF solution could be prolonged to 8.5 h at a high subcooling of 6℃. Finally, the mechanism of HGs inhibiting the formation of gas hydrate is proposed.

According to the working condition of boiler tubes of power station, hot corrosion tests were carried out at two temperatures (650℃ and 800℃) to simulate the environment of coal fired boiler. The hot corrosion resistance and mechanism of three arc spraying coatings (sL30, 45CT and FeCrAl) have been studied. The result showed that coating sL30 and 45CT have a better protection ability against hot corrosion. It indicated that a protective Cr 2O 3 scale formed on the surface of coating sL30 and coating 45CT.

Platelets dynamically participate in various physiological processes, including wound repair, bacterial clearance, immune response, and tumor metastasis. Recreating the specific biological features of platelets by mimicking the structure of the platelet or translocating the platelet membrane to s.nthetic particles holds great promise in disease treatment. This review highlights recent advancements made in the platelet-mimicking strategies. The future opportunities and translational challenges are also discussed.

Cracking evolution behaviors of lightweight materials based on in situ s.nchrotron X-ray tomography： A review

Damage accumulation and failure behaviors are crucial concerns during the design and service of a critical component, leading researchers and engineers to thoroughly identifying the crack evolution. Third-generation s.nchrotron radiation X-ray computed microtomo- graphy can be used to detect the inner damage evolution of a large-density material or component. This paper provides a brief review of studying the crack initiation and propagation inside lightweight materials with advanced s.nchrotron three-dimensional （3D） X-ray imaging, such as aluminum materials. Various damage modes under both static and dynamic loading are elucidated for pure aluminum, aluminum alloy matrix, aluminum alloy metal matrix composite, and aluminum alloy welded joint. For aluminum alloy matrix, metallurgical defects （porosity, void, inclusion, precipitate, etc.） or artificial defects （notch, scratch, pit, etc.） strongly affect the crack initiation and propagation. For aluminum alloy metal matrix composites, the fracture occurs either from the particle debonding or voids at the particle/matrix interface, and the void evolution is closely related with fatigued cycles. For the hybrid laser welded aluminum alloy, fatigue cracks usually initiate from gas pores located at the surface or sub-surface and gradually propagate to a quarter ellipse or a typical semi-ellipse profile.

Helicobacter pylori Infection Facilitates the Expression of Resistin-like Molecule Beta in Gastric Carcinoma and Precursor Lesions

Helicobacter pylori(***)was reported to be associated with gastric ***-like molecule beta(RELMβ),a recently described goblet cell-specific protein,was demonstrated to aberrantly express in gastric cancer and correlated with its clinicopathological *** study aimed to examine the association between *** and RELMp expression in gastric carcinoma and precursor *** infection and RELMβexpression were immunohistochemically evaluated in gastric biopsies from 230 *** biopsies consisted of normal gastric mucosa(w=20),mucosa with chronic gastritis.n=41),intestinal metaplasia(n=42),dysplasia(w=31),intestinal-type adenocarcinoma(n=56),and diffuse-type adenocarcinoma(n=40).RELMβ expression was measured in gastric biopsies after *** eradication therapy in a subgroup of 32 *** gastric cancer cell line sGC-7901 was infected with *** strains,and RELMp expression was detected by reverse transcription PCR,real-time PCR and Western *** RELMP immunoreactivity was observed in *** intestinal metaplasia(P=0.003),dysplasia(P=0.032),intestinal-type(P=0.037)and diffuse-type adenocarcinomas(P=0.001)than in ***-negative *** rates of RELMβ in dysplasia(CO.005),intestinal-type adenocarcinoma(Pnd diffuse-type adenocarcinoma(P=0.001)were significantly correlated with the grade of *** *** addition,*** eradication reduced the RELMβintensity in intestinal metaplasia(P=0.001).Infection of gastric cancer sGC-7901 cells with cag pathogenicity island(PAI)-positive *** Tn2,but not with its PAI totally deleted mutant(Tn2-APAI)for 4-8 h,resulted in enhanced protein and transcript levels of RELMβ(Pn summary,our study suggested that *** infection facilitated the expression of RELMβ in gastric garcinoma and precursor lesions.

Co,ni,and Zn iso-reticular coordination polymers of 2,5-dihydroxyterphthalic acid(H_(2)dot)can be rapidly obtained under room temperature and aqueous conditions us.ng either sodium or ammonium hydroxide as the bases to deprotonate the *** use of metal bromides and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide(TBAOH)as the base allows the green s.nthesis of ionic metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(sEM),thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA),H-nuclear magnetic res.nance(nMR),elemental analysis,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPs),and employed in the pressure,solvent,and additive-free CO_(2)fixation to epoxides by its cycloaddition to epichlorohydrin,exhibiting a cooperative behavior between the MOF and the ionic liquid formed within the framework,achieving TOns of the confined tetrabutylammonium bromide(TBABr)up to 700.
