Background: Nasal defects due to rat bites are frequently encountered in rural regions of China. In addition to serving as disease vectors, rats can also inflict bite injuries. In this study, we delineated the characteristics of rat bite injuries in the nasal region and discussed the clinical features observed during a 10-year follow-up ***: We retrospectively reviewed hospital records for patients admitted due to rat bites. This study outlines the demographics, clinical features, and follow-up outcomes supported by comprehensive photo documentation of the patients' ***: Twenty-five patients, with a mean age of 29 years, were admitted due to rat bites. Treatment was provided for three distinct types of injuries: nasal tip defect(type Ⅰ), nasal defect(type Ⅱ), and full-thickness nasal defect with loss of surrounding tissues(type Ⅲ). All patients recovered ***: The treatment for rat bites should be based on the wound type. The long-term follow-up outcomes are more favorable when fewer subunits of the nose affected. We recommend early surgical intervention, along with psychological therapy, to prevent interference with growth and development.

This study presents novel findings on the potential of phloretin， an apple polyphenol， to enhance the effectiveness of anti-HER2 antibody therapy in HER2-positive breast cancer patients. Our research reveals that phloretin inhibits type II glucose transporter (GLUT2) activity， significantly reducing cancer cell glucose uptake. We confirmed the overexpression of GLUT1 and GLUT2 mRNA in paired human breast tumor tissues， with GLUT2 overexpression associated explicitly with poorer survival rates in breast cancer patients. Treatment with phloretin was observed to increase the interaction between GLUT2 and HER2 proteins， attenuate glycolysis， and enhance the binding affinity of anti-HER2 antibody drugs to target human breast cancer cells. Furthermore， the efficacy of the combination therapy involving phloretin and antibody drugs was reaffirmed in a cell-derived xenograft (CDX) tumor animal model， particularly in suppressing the growth of Trastuzumab-resistant HER2+ breast cancer. These significant findings suggest that targeting GLUT2 activity with phloretin in combination with anti-HER2 antibody drugs may help mitigate the development of drug-resistant breast cancer， offering valuable insights for enhancing tumor treatment strategies and contributing to developing more effective therapies.

Surface moisture or humidity impacting the lubrication property is a ubiquitous phenomenon in tribological systems,which is demonstrated by a combination of molecular dynamics(MD)simulation and experiment for the organic friction modifier(OFM)-containing *** stearic acid and poly-α-olefin 4cSt(pao4)were chosen as the OFM and base oil molecules,*** physical adsorption indicates that on the moist surface water molecules are preferentially adsorbed on friction surface,and even make OFM adsorption film thoroughly leave surface and mix with base *** shear process,the adsorption of water film and desorption OFM film are further enhanced,particularly under higher shear *** simulated friction coefficient(that is proportional to shear rate)increases firstly and then decreases with thickening water film,in good agreement with experiments,while the slip length shows a contrary *** wear increases with humidity due to tribochemistry revealing the continuous formation and removal of Si–O–Si *** tribological discrepancy of OFM-containing lubricant in dry and humid conditions is attributed to the slip plane’s transformation from the interface between OFM adsorption film and lubricant bulk to the interface between adsorbed water *** work provides a new thought to understand the boundary lubrication and failure of lubricant in humid environments,likely water is not always harmful in oil lubrication systems.

Obesity caused by poor eating habits has become a global public health issue and harms human health. Rosmarinic acid (RA) is a natural active substance with many biological functions like antioxidant. However， the function of RA’s lipid-lowering effect and mechanism are not entirely clear. This study aimed to explore the effect of RA on obesity and its action mechanism in Caenorhabditis elegans. RA not only alleviated intestinal inflammation and change the composition of unsaturated fatty acid， but also decreased fat storage and adjusted the size and quantity of fat droplets without threatening development and reproduction or affecting energy intake. In addition， RA improved the integrity of intestinal barrier function in C. elegans. RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR comprehensively revealed that the lipid-lowering mechanism mediated by RA might involve lipid metabolism and anti-inflammatory pathways. Among them， RA regulates lipid metabolism by reducing fat synthesis through SBP-1and increasing fatty acid β-oxidation via NHR-49. Furthermore， the anti-inflammatory pathway was associated with RA’s enhancement of the ratio of unsaturated fatty acid and alleviation of inflammatory reactions caused by pao1. Therefore， RA regulated lipid metabolism and relieved inflammation， which had the potential for dietary supplements or functional foods.

Objectives: The study aimed to determine the most appropriate hearing screening test to identify disabling hearing loss for adults aged 65 years or ***: This study included 577 older adults. Four hearing screening tests were considered in the study, including the Hearing Handicap Inventory for Elderly Screening(HHIE-s), three single question tests, the whisper test, and the finger rub test. The sensitivity and specificity of these tests referenced to the hearing threshold of disabling hearing loss were ***: Among all tests, only the single self-perception question(0.7064 for sensitivity;0.7225 for specificity) and whisper test(0.7833 for sensitivity;0.7708 for specificity) could obtain both sensitivity and specificity higher than 70% for adults aged ≥65 ***: Overall, we suggest using the whisper test to identify disabling hearing loss(>40 dB HL at the better ear) for adults aged 65 years or older. However, if the conditions do not permit, the single selfperception question is also acceptable. Moreover, HHIE-s might not be a good test to detect disabling hearing loss for adults aged 80 years or older.
