Antitumor activity of a novel bis-aziridinylnaphthoquinone (AZ4) mediating cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in non-small cell lung cancer cell line NCl-H460

Aim:The cytotoxic activities of a series of bis-aziridinylnaphthoquinone,AZ1 toAZ4,on human lung carcinoma cell lines,H460,and normal lung cells fibroblastcell line,MRC-5,and the mechanisms of H460 cells induced by AZ4 ***:The MTT assay was used to determine the *** cycle was analysed by *** activity of caspase 3,8 and 9was determined by cell-permeable fluorogenic detection *** blotassay was used to evaluate the regulation of cyclin B,Cdc-2,p53,p21,and the Bcl-2 ***:AZ1 to AZ4 displayed various cytotoxicity activities againstH460 and MRC-5 *** to those compounds,AZ4 was with the mosteffective agent among the 5 tested analogues at reducing H460 cell viability with anIC50value of 1.23 μmol/L;it also exhibited weak cytotoxicity against MRC-5 cells withan IC50value of 12.7 μmol/*** results show that growth arrest on the G2-M phaseof H460 cells induced by AZ4 for 24 h was discovered,and this might be alteredwith the reduced Cdc-2 protein expression of 47% at 2.0 μmol/L AZ4,but not withcyclin B protein *** AZ4 treated cells were then led to apoptosis after48 *** was associated with the activation of apoptotic enzyme caspase 3 andmediated by caspase 8,but not caspase 9 at various concentrations of AZ4 afterbeing cultured for 48 h and 30 h,*** anti-apoptotic protein （Bcl-2）expression in H460 cells altered by 39% with downregulation,and the p53 proteinby 25% with upregulation after being cultured with 2.0 μmol/L AZ4 for 48 *** atime-dependent wanrer,the expression of the p53 and p21 proteins were increasedto the maximum at 24 h,and then decreased at ***:AZ4 represents anovel antitumor aziridinylnaphthoquinone with therapeutic potential against thenon-small cell lung cancer cells.

Green's Function for Periodic Solutions in Alternately Advanced and Delayed Differential Systems

In this paper we investigate the existence of the periodic solutions of a nonlinear differential equation with a general piecewise constant argument,in short DEPCAG,that is,the argument is a general step *** consider the critical case,when associated linear homogeneous system admits nontrivial periodic *** of existence of periodic solutions of such equations are *** the process we use the Green?s function for periodic solntions and convert the given DEPCAG into an equivalent integral *** we construct appropriate mappings and employ Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem to show the existence of a periodic solution of this type of nonlinear differential *** also use the contraction mapping principle to show the existence of a unique periodic *** examples are given to show the feasibility of our results.

A Three-Point Method for Separating Incident and Reflected Waves over A Sloping Bed

This study presents a three-point method for separating incident and reflected waves to explain normally incident waves' propagating over a sloping bed. linear wave shoaling is used to determine changes in wave amplitude and phase in response to variations of bathymetry. The wave reflection coefficient and incident amplitude are estimated from wave heights measured at three fixed wave gauges with unequal spacing. Sensitivity analysis demonstrates that the proposed method can predict the reflection and amplitude of waves over a sloping bed more accurately than the two-point method.

In this paper, we investigate the existence, uniqueness and the asymptotic equiv- alence of a linear system and a perturbed system of differential equations with piecewise alternately advanced and retarded argument of generalized type （DEPCAG）. This is based in the study of an equivalent integral equation with Cauchy and Green matrices type and in a solution of a DEPCAG integral inequality of Gronwall type. Several examples are also given to show the feasibility of results.

Background: Melanin?based coloration is often found to be associated with variations in physiological and behavio?ral traits that are essential in avian ***,the function of melanin?based traits to their bearers has been investigated less than that of carotenoid?based *** is commonly believed that expression of melanin?based pigmentation is genetically ***,whether it could be modulated by physical condition has remained *** this study,we demonstrate that the level of melanin?based plumage pigmentation could be nega?tively correlated with an individual's oxidative stress ***: In this study,we used two groups of Black Bulbuls(Hypsipetes leucocephalus nigerrimus) obtained from a pet?shop in 2010 and 2011 to examine the correlation between the melanin?based plumage coloration and the ratio of lymphocytes to heterocytes,which is an indicator of the oxidative stress experienced by an ***: We found a negative correlation between oxidative stress levels and expression of melanin?based pigmen?tation on the breast and scapular feathers,but the correlation only appeared in the 2011 group,individuals of which had higher oxidative stress level and brighter plumage(*** melanins) than those of the 2010 ***: Our data suggest that melanin?based plumage could reflect an individual's physical condition in certain ***,melanin?based plumage coloration could have a function in Himalayan Black Bulbuls' communication.

Long Wave Reflection and Transmission over A Sloping Step

This investigation examines long wave reflection and transmission induced by a sloping step. Bellman and Kalaba's (1959) invariant imbedding is introduced to find wave reflection. An alternative method matching both the surface elevation and its surface slope of each region at the junction is applied to the determination of wave reflection and transmission. The proposed methods are compared with the accurate numerical results of Porter and Porter (2000) and those of Mei (1983) for a vertical step. The wave reflection obtained for a mildly sloping step differs significantly from the result of Mei. The wave reflection is found to fluctuate owing to wave trapping for the mild sloping step. The height and the face slope of the step are important for determining wave reflection and transmission coefficients.
