Nanotechnology may well prove to be the 21st century＇s new wave of scientific knowledge that transforms people＇s lives. Nanotechnology research activities are booming around the globe. This article reviews the recent progresses made on nanoelectronic research in US and China, and introduces several novel hybrid solutions specifically useful for future computer technology. These exciting new directions will lead to many future inventions, and have a huge impact to research communities and industries.

为研究香港地区中学文凭考试(简称文凭试)等级预测结果,以过往文凭试结果作为依据,通过标准化程序,对2020—2023年共计146180名考生根据其校内评核成绩进行文凭试等级预测;并采用问卷调查法,基于各参与学校组织架构、教师的工作经验、公开考试阅卷经验及专业发展活动等,运用多层线性模型探讨学校属性与校内评核的关系。结果显示:中文、英文、数学、通识教育4门核心科目等级预测结果具有较高的准确度,其中英文预测结果最佳,其余3科预测结果类似;选修科目则因每年选考人数少导致文凭试成绩变化大,进而影响预测结果;多层线性模型分析显示,不同学校属性对于不同科目的校内评核具有不同的预测效果。

Emperor Tuoba Hong 1) of Beiwei relocated the capital from Pingcheng to Luoyang approximately 1500 years ago. Most historians speculate that his motivation was based on considerations of politics, economics, military, history, and Chinese culture. However, Sima Guang, a famous historian during the Song Dynasty, claimed 1000 years ago that cold climate was the cause of this historical event. In order to assess the credibility of Sima Guang’s claim, this research examines related ancient documents and the recent frost data for a comparative study. It is found that the mean minimum temperature in Pingcheng during 479AD～509AD is estimated to be lower than present minimum temperature by 2.48 ℃ .

AIM: To compare the effectiveness, patient acceptability, and physical tolerability of two oral lavage solutions prior to colonoscopy in a Taiwan Residents population. METHODS: Eighty consecutive patients were randomized to receive either standard 4 L of polyethylene glycol (PEG) or 90 mL of sodium phosphate (NaP) in a split regimen of two 45 mL doses separated by 12 h, prior to colonoscopic evaluation. The primary endpoint was the percent of subjects who had completed the preparation. Secondary endpoints included colonic cleansing evaluated with an overall assessment and segmental evaluation, the tolerance and acceptability assessed by a selfadministered structured questionnaire, and a safety profile such as any unexpected adverse events, electrolyte tests, physical exams, vital signs, and body weights. RESULTS: A significantly higher completion rate was found in the NaP group compared to the PEG group(84.2% vs 27.5%, P＜0.001). The amount of fluid suctioned was significantly less in patients taking NaP vs PEG (50.13±54.8 cc vs 121.13±115.4 cc, P＜0.001),even after controlling for completion of the oral solution(P = 0.031). The two groups showed a comparable overall assessment of bowel preparation with a rate of 'good' or 'excellent' in 78.9% of patients in the NaPgroup and 82.5% in PEG group (P = 0.778). Patients taking NaP tended to have significantly better colonic segmental cleansing relative to stool amount observedin the descending (94.7% vs 70%, P = 0.007) andtransverse (94.6% vs 74.4%, P = 0.025) colon. Slightly more patients graded the taste of NaP as 'good' or 'very good' compared to the PEG patients (32.5% vs 12.5%;P = 0.059). Patients' willingness to take the same preparation in the future was 68.4% in the NaP compared to 75% in the PEG group (P = 0.617). There was a significant increase in serum sodium and a significant decrease in phosphate and chloride levels in NaP group on the day following the colonoscopy without any clinical sequelae. Aim： To summarize recent advances in human penile anatomy, hemodynamics and their clinical applications. Methods： Using dissecting, light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy the fibroskeleton structure, penile venous vasculature, the relationship of the architecture between the skeletal and smooth muscles, and erection hemodynamics were studied on human cadaveric penises and clinical patients over a period of 10 years. Results： The tunica albuginea of the corpora cavernosa is a bi-layered structure with inner circular and outer longitudinal collagen bundles. Although there is no bone in the human glans, a strong equivalent distal ligament acts as a trunk of the glans penis. A guaranteed method of local anesthesia for penile surgeries and a tunical surgery was developed accordingly. On the venous vasculature it is elucidated that a deep dorsal vein, a couple of cavernosal veins and two pairs of para-arterial veins are located between the Buck＇s fascia and the tunica albuginea. Furthermore, a hemodynamic study suggests that a fully rigid erection may depend upon the drainage veins as well, rather than just the intracavemosal smooth muscle. It is believed that penile venous surgery deserves another look, and that it may be meaningful if thoroughly and carefully performed. Accordingly, a penile venous surgery was developed. Conclusion： Using this new insight into penile anatomy and physiology, exact penile curvature correction, refined penile implants and promising penile venous surgery, as well as a venous patch, for treating Peyronie＇s deformity might be performed under pure local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. （Asian J Androl 2006 Mar; 8： 225-234）

We discuss a unified model of quark confinement and new cosmic expansion with linear potentials based on a general（SU3）color×（U1）baryon symmetry. The phase functions in the usual gauge transformations are generalized to new ‘action integrals＇. The general Yang-Mills transformations have group properties and reduce to usual gauge transformations in special cases. Both quarks and ‘gauge bosons＇ are permanently confined by linear potentials. In this unified model of particle-cosmology, physics in the largest cosmos and that in the smallest quark system appear to both be dictated by the general Yang-Mills symmetry and characterized by a universal length. The basic force between two baryons is independent of distance. However, the cosmic repulsive force exerted on a baryonic supernova by a uniform sphere of galaxies is proportional to the distance from the center of the sphere. The new general YangMills field may give a field-theoretic explanation of the accelerated cosmic expansion. The prediction could be tested experimentally by measuring the frequency shifts of supernovae at different distances.

The metal atom net charge correlation(MANCC) method was developed in prediction of catalyst activity of asymmetric late-transition metal complexes,2-quinoxalinyl-6-iminopyridine Ni(Ⅱ),2-imino-1,10-phenanthroline Co(Ⅱ) and 2-methoxycarbonyl-6-iminopyridine Pd(Ⅱ) complexes,from the net charge of the metal atom for ethylene *** force field was modified according to the X-ray diffraction *** found that the asymmetric structure of the complexes resulted in a charge differ-ence between two halogen atoms coordinated to the metal *** order to remove such contribution we introduced the effective charge Qeff,which was obtained by the charge equilibration(QEq) *** results verified the successful introduction of Qeff and showed that the catalytic activities of different complexes are related to central metal atom effective charge.
