Impa.t of Dieta.y La.toba.illus pla.ta.um Postbiotics on the Performa.ce of La.er Hens under Hea. Stress Conditions

This experiment wa. conducted to determine the performa.ce of hea.-stressed la.ers fed a.diet conta.ning the probiotic La.toba.illus pla.ta.um RS5 or its products of fermenta.ion (postbiotics). Twenty-week-old Isa.White la.ers, were subdivided into six trea.ments of 32 individua.ly ca.ed birds. Ha.f of the birds were rea.ed under regula. tempera.ure conditions, while the other ha.f wa. subjected to cyclic da.ly hea. stress. La.ers were offered one of three diets: 1) Control;2) Control + La.toba.illus pla.ta.um RS5 probiotic;3) Control + La.toba.illus pla.ta.um RS5 postbiotics. Birds were tested for performa.ce a.d viscera. orga. development for 5 months. Hea. stress nega.ively a.fected the birds’ feed inta.e, egg weight, shell weight percenta.e, Ha.gh unit, shell thickness, yolk color, body weight a.d spleen weight percenta.e. Postbiotics significa.tly increa.ed egg production (p a.ison to the control a.d the probiotic fed group (94.8% vs 92.6% vs 93.1%, respectively). Birds under probiotic or postbiotic diet showed a.significa.tly higher (p a.e a.d egg weight, a.though the probiotic ha. a.more pronounced a.d gra.ua. effect. Specific gra.ity, yolk weight percenta.e a.d shell thickness didn’t show differences a.ong dieta.y groups. The Ha.gh Unit wa. significa.tly higher (p a.so showed a.significa.tly lower yolk color index (p a.ments did not impa.t the bird’s viscera.weight percenta.e, except for the ileum tha. wa. significa.tly lower (p a.ion. Both probiotics a.d postbiotics could be used a. a.potentia. growth promoters a.d might a.levia.e hea. stress impa.t in poultry industry.

Commercia. ELISa.kits a.e commonly used to a.sess the levels of chicken a.tibodies a.a.nst NewCa.tle Disea.e Virus (NDV) a.d tra.e a.field stra.n infection. Nevertheless, the specificity of these kits vis-à-vis endemic stra.ns in Leba.on rema.ns in question. This study developed a. in-house indirect ELISa.system to eva.ua.e the level of chicken a.tibodies a.a.nst a.predomina.t velogenic NDV stra.n belonging to Genotype VI. a.checkerboa.d a.a.ysis comprised a.five-fa.toria. multiva.ia.e experiment to optimize the protocol: coa.ing a.tigen concentra.ion, blocking buffer utiliza.ion, serum a.d conjuga.e dilution levels, a.d OD rea.ing wa.elength. The developed test wa. optimized a.d then va.ida.ed through pa.a.lel testing of the sera.of 20 broilers a.d 5 la.ers using sta.da.d serologica. a.sa.s. There wa. a.strong correla.ion between the developed ELISa.results a.d those obta.ned with the Hema.glutina.ion Inhibition test (P a.d a.commercia. NDV ELISa.kit (P a.d reproducibility of the developed ELISa.suggest tha. it ca. be used a. the test of choice for the a.sessment of chicken a.tibody titers a.a.nst loca.ly circula.ing velogenic NDV stra.ns, specifica.ly those belonging to Genotype VI. 丙型肝炎感染与肝细胞性肝癌发病率升高:一项人群研究

Ba.kground &a.ms: a.significa.tincrea.e in the incidence of hepa.ocellula. ca.cinoma.(HCC) ha. been reported in the United Sta.es. The risk fa.tors underlying this increa.e rema.n unclea.. Methods: By using Surveilla.ce, Epidemiology, a.d End-Results progra. (SEER)-Medica.e-linked da.a. we conducted a.popula.ion ba.ed study to exa.ine tempora. cha.ges in risk fa.tors for pa.ients 65 yea.s a.d older dia.nosed with HCC between 1993 a.d 1999. Only pa.ients with continuou s Medica.e enrollment for 2 yea.s before a.d up to 2 yea.s a.ter HCC dia.nosis were exa.ined. Univa.ia.e a.d multiple logistic regression a.a.yses were used to eva.ua.e cha.ges in risk fa.tors over time (Ja.ua.y 1993-June 1996 a.d July 1996-December 1999). Results: The a.e a.justed incidence of HCC a.ong persons 65 yea.s of a.e a.d older significa.tly increa.ed from 14.2 per 100,000 in 1993 to 18.1 per 100,000 in 1999. We identified 2584 pa.ients with continuous Medica.e enrollment 2 yea.s before a.d up to 2 yea.s a.ter HCC dia.nosis. The proportion of hepa.itis C virus (HCV) rela.ed HCC increa.ed from 11%during Ja.ua.y of 1993 to June of 1996 to 21%during July of 1996 to December of 1999, wherea. hepa.it is B virus (HBV) rela.ed HCC increa.ed from 6%to 11%(P a.a.yses tha. a.justed for a.e, sex, ra.e, a.d geogra.hic region, the risk for HCV-rela.ed HCC a.d HBV rela.ed HCC increa.ed by 226%a.d 6 7%, respectively. Idiopa.hic HCC decrea.ed from 43%to 39%. This decrea.e did not fully a.count for the significa.t increa.es observed for HCV a.d HBV. No significa.t cha.ges over time were observed for a.cohol-induced liver disea.e, non specific cirrhosis, or nonspecific hepa.itis. Conclusions: There ha. been a.significa.t recent increa.e in HCV-a.d HBV-rela.ed HCC. Increa.ing ra.es of HCV-rela.ed HCC ca. expla.n a.substa.tia. proportion of the reported increa.e in HCC incidence during recent yea.s.

Th is is the first popula.ion ba.ed ca.e control study in the USa.to exa.ine this a.ssocia.ion while a.justing for other ma.or risk fa.tors rela.ed to HCC. Methods: We used the Surveilla.ce Epidemiology a.d End-Results Progra. (SEER)Medica.e l inked da.a.a.e to identify pa.ients a.ed 65 yea.s a.d older dia.nosed with HCC a.nd ra.domly selected non-ca.cer controls between 1994 a.d 1999. Only ca.es a.d controls with continuous Medica.e enrolment for three yea.s prior to the index d a.e were exa.ined. Inpa.ient a.d outpa.ient cla.ms files were sea.ched for dia.n ostic codes indica.ive of dia.etes,hepa.itis C virus (HCV), hepa.itis B virus (H BV), a.coholic liver disea.e, a.d ha.mochroma.osis. HCC pa.ients without these c onditions were ca.egorised a. idiopa.hic. Una.justed a.d a.justed odds ra.ios we re ca.cula.ed in logistic regression a.a.yses. Results: We identified 2061 HCC p a.ients a.d 6183 non-ca.cer controls. Compa.ed with non-ca.cer controls, pa.ie nts with HCC were ma.e (66%v 36%) a.d non-White (34%v 18%). The proportion of HCC pa.ients with dia.etes (43%) wa. significa.tly grea.er tha. non-ca.cer controls (19%). In multiple logistic regression a.a.yses tha. a.justed for demo gra.hics fea.ures a.d other HCC risk fa.tors (HCV, HBV, a.coholic liver disea.e, a.d ha.mochroma.osis),dia.etes wa. a.socia.ed with a.threefold increa.e in the risk of HCC. In a.subset of pa.ients without these ma.or risk fa.tors, the a.jus ted odds ra.io for dia.etes declined but rema.ned significa.t (a.justed odds ra. io 2.87 (95%con-fidence interva. 2.49-3.30)). a.significa.t positive intera.t ion between HCV a.d dia.etes wa. detected (pa. findings persiste d in a.a.yses restricted to dia.etes recorded between two a.d three yea.s prior to HCC dia.nosis. Conclusions:Dia.etes is a.socia.ed with a.2-3-fold increa.e in the risk of HCC, rega.d
