SHRIMP U-Pb geochronology of the zircons from the Precambrian basement of the Qilian Block and its geological significances

Origin and tectonic evolution of the Qilian Precambrian basement on NW China were investigated using zircon U-Pb ages with collaborating stratigraphic and paleontological evidence. Zircon grains were separated from two schists, two granitic gneisses and one mylonized gneiss and dated with SHRIMP. Seventy percent of sixty-one detrital zircon ages from two schists ranges from 0.88 Ga to 3.09 Ga, mostly within 1.0 Ga to 1.8 Ga with a peak at 1.6 Ga to 1.8 Ga, and twenty percent varies from 2.0 Ga to 2.5 Ga. A few falls in the Archean and Neoproterozoic periods. The two granitic gneisses were dated 930±8 Ma and 918±14 Ma, whereas the mylonized granitic gneiss was dated 790±12 Ma. These ages represent two periods of magmatisms, which can be correlated with the early and late stages of magmatisms associated with the Jinningian movement on the yangtze Blocks. The results from this and previous studies indicate that the ages of the Precambrian detrital zircons from the Qilian Block are widely distributed in the Proterozoic era, distinct from the North China Block which was stable in the Neo-Mesoproterozoic era. By contrast, the age histograms of the detrital zircons from the Qilian Block is similar to those from Precambrian basement of the yangtze Craton. Therefore, it is suggested that the Qilian Block had a strong affinity toward the yangtze Craton and might belong to the supercontinent Gondwana in the Neoproterozoic time. This inference is supported by Nd model age (TDM), stratigraphic, and paleontological evidence. It is further considered that the Qilian Block was rifted from the supercontinent Gondwana during late Sinian to form an isolated continent in the Proto-Tethyan Ocean, moving towards the Alaxa Block in the North China Craton. The part of Proto-Tethyan Ocean between the Qilian and Alaxa Blocks should correspond to the so-called Paleo-Qilian Ocean. The Dongcaohe ophiolite from the North Qilian Moun-tains: A fossil oceanic crust of the Paleo-Qilian ocean

The Dongcaohe ophiolite, located at the south of the North Qilian subduction complexes, is a tectonic block with an exposed area of about 3 km×6 km. It consists of an intrusive section overlain by an ex- trusive section. The lower part of the intrusive section consists of cyclic layers of cumulate dunites, troctolites, anorthosites, anorthositic gabbros, and gabbros with small discordant dunite and troctolite bodies. This layered sequence grades upward to isotropic gabbros and gabbronorites, which are overlain by the extrusive sequence of diabasic sheeted dikes and basaltic lavas. The overall mineral crystallization sequence was olivine±Cr-spinel, plagioclase, clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, and Fe-Ti oxides. The Cr-spinel (Mg#: 42-66, Cr#: 41-57) in these layered cumulates and present-day abyssal peridotites have similar compositions. Also, the compositional variations of the plagioclase and cli- nopyroxene in the intrusive section reflect crystallization from melts compositionally similar to the present-day ocean basalts. Moreover, the rare earth element (REE) and multi-element distribution pat- terns of the intrusive and extrusive lithologies in the Dongcaohe ophiolite are consistent with crystal- lization of mid-ocean ridge basalts. The zircon grains separated from the gabbronorite have an SHRIMP average 206Pb/238U weighted age of 497 ± 7 Ma, which is considered as the tectonic emplacement age of the Dongcaohe ophiolite. The field occurrence, mineral and whole-rock compositions indicate that the Dongcaohe ophiolite represents a well-persevered oceanic crustal fragment composed of a complete oceanic crustal section of layered cumulates at bottom upgrading through isotropic cumulates to sheeted dikes and lava flows.

Insulin resistance is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma in chronic hepatitis C infection

AIM:To elucidate the role of insulin resistance(IR) and serum adiponectin level in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) associated with chronic hepatitis ***:Clinical and biochemical characteristics were collected from 165 consecutive patients with newly diagnosed *** model assessment of IR(HOMA-IR) and serum adiponectin level were investigated in 188 patients with different stages of hepatitis C virus(HCV) ***:Among HCC patients,type 2 diabetics(DM) was more prevalent in HCV subjects(35.6%,n = 59) compared to hepatitis B virus(HBV;12.7%,n = 63) or non-HBV,non-HCV cases(7.1%,n = 28).In patients with chronic hepatitis C,HCC subjects had higher blood sugar(P < 0.001),insulin level(P = 0.003) and HOMAIR(P = 0.018) than those with chronic hepatitis and advanced ***,male sex and body mass index were significantly associated with serum adiponectin level,whereas HOMA-IR was *** on stepwise logistic regression analysis,age(OR:1.124,P < 0.001),serum insulin level(OR:1.585,P < 0.001),HOMA-IR(OR:0.495,P = 0.001),DM(OR:11.601,P = 0.002) and male sex(OR:3.877,P = 0.016) were independently associated with *** result was similar even if the diabetic subjects were excluded for ***:Insulin resistance measured by HOMAIR,regardless of the presence of diabetes,is significantly associated with HCC development in patients with chronic HCV infection.

Developments of Cr-Si and Ni-Cr Single-Layer Thin-Film Resistors and a Bi-Layer Thin-Film Resistor with Adjustable Temperature Coefficient of Resistor

At first, Cr-Si (28 wt% Cr, 72 wt% Si) and Ni-Cr (80 wt% Ni, 20 wt% Cr) thin-film materials were deposited by using sputtering method at the same parameters, and their physical and electrical properties were investigated. The resistances of Cr-Si and Ni-Cr thin-film resistors decreased with the increase of deposition time (thickness) and their resistivity had no apparent variations as the deposition time increased. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of single-layer Cr-Si thin-film resistors was negative and the TCR value of single-layer Ni-Cr thin-film resistors was positive. For that, we used Cr-Si thin films as upper (or lower) layer and Ni-Cr thin films as lower (upper) layer to investigate a bi-layer thin-film structure. The deposition time of Ni-Cr thin films was fixed at 10 min and the deposition time of Cr-Si thin films was changed from 10 min to 60 min. We had found that as Cr-Si thin films were used as upper or lower layers they had similar deposition rates. We had also found that the thickness and stack method of Cr-Si thin films had large effects on the resistance and TCR values of the bi-layer thin-film resistors.

Glutamine-supplemented total parenteral nutrition attenuates plasma interleukin-6 in surgical patients with lower disease severity

AIM: To evaluate whether the effect of Gln dipeptideenriched total parenteral nutrition (TPN) on postoperative cytokine alteration depended on the disease severity of surgical ***: Forty-eight patients with major abdominal surgery were allocated to two groups to receive isonitrogenous (0.228 g nitrogen/kg per d) and isocaloric(30 kcal/kg per d) TPN for 6 d. Control group (Conv)using conventional TPN solution received 1.5 g amino adds/kg per day, whereas the test group received 0.972 g amino acids/kg per day and 0.417 g L-alanyl-L-glutamine(Ala-Gln)/kg per day. Blood samples were collected on d 1 and d 6 postoperatively for plasma interleukin (IL)-2,IL-6, IL-8, and interferon (IFN)-γ ***: Plasma IL-2 and IFN-γ were not ***-6 concentrations were significantly lower on the 6th postoperative day in the Ala-Gln group than those in the Conv group in patients with APACHE Ⅱ≤6, whereas no difference was noted in patients with APACHE Ⅱ＞6. There was no difference in IL-8 levels between the two *** difference in cumulative nitrogen balance was observed on d 2-5 after the operation between the two groups(Ala-Gln -3.2±1.6 g vs Conv -6.5±2.7 g). A significant inverse correlation was noted between plasma IL-6 levels and cumulative nitrogen balance postoperatively in the Ala-Gln group, whereas no such correlation was observed in the Conv ***: TPN supplemented with Gln dipeptide had no effect on plasma IL-8 levels after surgery. However,Gln supplementation had a beneficial effect on decreasing systemic IL-6 production after surgery in patients with low admission illness severity, and lower plasma IL-6 may improve nitrogen balance in patients with abdominal surgery when Gln was administered.

Online Monitoring the Products Quality by Measuring Cavity Pressure during Injection Molding

Injection molding is a complicated production technique for the manufacturing of polymer products. During injection molding, it"s hard to predict molding quality; the injection molding parameters, such as mold temperature, melt temperature, packing pressure and packing time, affect the final properties of product. The cavity pressure is a significant key factor. Residual stress and injection molding weight are significantly affected by the cavity pressure. This study created an approach to predict weight of injection-molded by real-time online cavity pressure monitoring. This study uses a 6-inch with thickness 1mm light guide panel and the largest area beneath the pressure curve of time as well as the maximum pressure as its characteristic. The upper and lower limits of the control are set to ±2 standard deviations, and GUI (Graphical User Interface)-based LabVIEW software is used to perform calculation and analysis of the pressure curve. The results of the experiment show that the online internal cavity pressure monitoring system can effectively monitor the quality of the molded products. In 500 injection molding cycle tests, its error rate was less than 8%, whereas the deviation in mass of the molded products selected through the system"s filtering process was successfully controlled to be within ±4%.

Application of Fuzzy Control to Improve Flow Balance of Multi-Cavity Hot Runner System

In this study, we propose a new temperature compensation control strategy for a multi-cavity hot runner injection molding system. At first, the melt filling time of each cavity can be measured by installing temperature sensors on the position around end filling area, and filling time difference between the various cavities can be calculated. Then the melt temperature of each hot nozzle can be adjusted automatically by a control strategy established based on the Fuzzy Theory and a program compiled with LABVIEW software. Temperature changes the melt mobility, so the adjustment of temperature can equalize the filling time of the melt in each cavity, which can reduced the mass deviation between each cavity and make product properties of each cavity consistent. The conclusion of the experiment is as follows: For this contact lens box of a four-cavity Hot Runner mold, by applying hot runner temperature compensation control system, time difference can be reduced from 0.05 s to 0.01 s at each cavity, and the mass Standard deviation of the four cavity can be improved from 0.006 to 0.002. The ratio of imbalance can be reduced from 20% to 4%. Hence, the hot runner temperature compensation control system has significant feasibility and high potential in improving melt flow balance of multi-cavity molding application.
