The thermal stability of triple helical structure plays a critical role in collagen biosynthesis,function and *** technique was utilized to characterize the thermal stability of synthetic collagen mimic *** spectroscopy is widely used with easy access all around the world because of its inexpensive instrumentation,low operation cost,easy operation,and high *** we have developed an alternative fluorescence method to detect the thermal stability of collagen mimic *** have demonstrated that fluorescence spectroscopy could measure the thermal stability of collagen mimic peptides with low concentrations under different *** highly sensitive fluorescence self-quenching assay will greatly expedite the studies of sequence-dependent properties of collagen mimic peptides,and it has great potential in the application of determining the thermal stability of triple helix systems such as collagens,collectins,adiponectin,macrophage scavenger and C1q.

BACKGROUND Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a very malignant tumor in the world. CARMA3 plays an oncogenic role in the pathogenesis of various tumors. However, the function of CARMA3 in HCC has not been fully clarified. AIM To study the biological function of CAEMA3 in HCC. METHODS Tissue microarray slides including tissues form 100 HCC patients were applied to access the expression of CARMA3 in HCC and its clinical relevance. Knockdown and overexpression of CARMA3 were conducted with plasmid transfection. MTT, colony formation, and apoptosis assays were performed to check the biological activity of cells. RESULTS Higher expression of CARMA3 in HCC was relevant to poor prognostic survival (P < 0.05). Down-regulation of CARMA3 inhibited proliferation and colony formation and induced apoptosis in HCC cell lines, while increasing its expression promoted tumorigenesis. We also found that sodium aescinate (SA), a natural herb extract, exerted anti-proliferation effects in HCC cells by suppressing the CARMA3/nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway. CONCLUSION Overexpression of CARMA3 in HCC tissues correlates with a poor prognosis in HCC patients. CARMA3 acts pro-tumorigenic effects partly through activation of CARMA3/NF-κB. SA inhibits HCC growth by targeting CARMA3/NF-κB.

Primary immune thrombocytopenia （ITP） is the most common hemorrhagic disorder characterized byisolated thrombocytopenia in the absence of conditions known to cause thrombocytopenia. The incidence rate of ITP is similar in males and females; the incidence was significantly higher among patients older than 60 years） The clinical manifestation of bleeding varies with patient. The severity of bleeding ranges from mild mucocutanous bleeding （petechiae and ecchymoses） to life-threatening hemorrhages （intracranial or gastrointestinal bleeding）; some patients have no bleeding manifestations. Fatal and major nonfatal hemorrhages were extremely higher in patients older than 60 years old.2 The thrombocytopenia in ITP has been traditionally thought to be caused by the production of autoantibodyies targeting platelet antigens. Autoantibodies attach to the platelets and are destructed by macrophages in the reticuloendothelial system. Understanding of the mechanisms of thrombocytopenia in ITP has greatly expanded in recent years. The pathogenesis of ITP is heterogeneous and complex. The thrombocytopenia in ITP is caused not only by increased platelet destruction but also by impaired platelet production. The advances in the understanding of ITP have led to the development of a novel nonimmunologic therapeutic approach by stimulating platelet production and even revised guidelines in the diagnosis and treatment of ITE3 In the process of exploring the pathogenesis of ITP, the researchers from all over the world have done a lot of studies. This review will provide an insight into the pathogenesis-oriented treatment of ITP, mainly focusing on the studies of Chinese researchers.

Fluorine-doped tin oxide(FTO)/TiO_(2) seed layer/TiO_(2) nanorods were prepared by ion-beam deposition and hydrothermal *** UV light,the photocurrent density of these nanorods was found to reach 1.39 mA/cm^(2),which was higher than that without the seed layer and nanorod ***,the FTO/TiO_(2) seed layer/TiO_(2) nanorods can also absorb visible light,overcoming a notable problem with standard TiO_(2).The photocurrent density of the FTO/TiO_(2) seed layer/TiO_(2) nanorods was found to reach 0.21 mA/cm^(2) under visible *** high-performance results from the deposition of the TiO_(2) seed layer,which reduces the band gap of TiO_(2).The FTO/TiO_(2) seed layer/TiO_(2) nanorods also exhibited high photodegradation ability for the organic pollutant methylene blue(MB).Within 120 min,77.3%of the MB was found to have been degraded,and the degradation rates remained almost unchanged after four cycles with the same catalyst ***,compared with powdered photocatalysts,the FTO/TiO_(2) seed layer/TiO_(2) nanorod sample is easy to recover,requiring only rinsing with water and natural drying after the reaction.

Seismogenic Structure of the April 20, 2013, Lushan Ms7 Earthquake in Sichuan

At 08：02 on April 20, 2013, a Ms7.0 earthquake occurred in Lushan, Ya＇an, in the Longmenshan fault zone, Sichuan. The epicenter was located between Taiping Town and Shuangshi Town, Lushan County and the maximum earthquake intensity at the epicenter reached class IX. Field investigations in the epicenter area found that, although buildings were seriously damaged, no obvious surface rupture structure was produced, only some ground fissures and sand blows and water ejection phenomena being seen. An integrated analysis of high-resolution remote sensing image interpretation, mainshock and aftershock distribution, and focal mechanism solutions indicated that this earthquake was an independent rupturing event in the southwestern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone, belonging to the thrust-type earthquake. Ruptures occurred along the south-central segment of the Shuangshi-Dachuan fault and the principal rupture plane dipped SW at 33-43% It is inferred that the Lushan earthquake might be related to the ramp activity of the basal detachment zone （13-19 kin） of the Longmenshan fault zone. Historically, there occurred at least two Ms6-6.5 earthquakes along the Shuangshi-Dachuan fault zone; thus it is thought that the Lushan earthquake, different from the Wenchuan earthquake, was a characteristic one in the southwestern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone. In-situ stress measurements indicated the Lushan earthquake was the result of stress release of the southwestern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone after the Wenchuan earthquake. This paper analyzes the tectonic setting of the seismogenic structure of this earthquake.

The fractures and kerogen,which generally exist in the shale,are signifcant to the CO_(2) huf-n-puf in the shale *** is important to study the efects of fractures and kerogen on oil recovery during CO_(2) huf-n-puf operations in the fracture-matrix *** this study,a modifed CO_(2) huf-n-puf experiment method is developed to estimate the recovery factors and the CO_(2) injectivity in the fractured organic-rich shales and tight *** efects of rock properties,injection pressure,and injection time on the recovery factors and CO_(2) usage efciency in shales and sandstones are discussed,*** results show that although the CO_(2) injectivity in the shale is higher than that in the sandstone with the same porosity;besides,the recovery factors of two shale samples are much lower than that of two sandstone *** demonstrates that compared with the tight sandstone,more cycles are needed for the shale to reach a higher recovery ***,there are optimal injection pressures(close to the minimum miscible pressure)and CO_(2) injection volumes for CO_(2) huf-npuf in the *** the optimal CO_(2) injection volume in the shale is higher than that in the sandstone,more injection time is needed to enhance the oil recovery in the *** is a reference sense for CO_(2) huf-n-puf in the fractured shale oil reservoir for enhanced oil recovery(EOR)purposes.
