The most common index for representing structural condition of the pavement is the structural *** current procedure for determining structural numbers involves utilizing falling weight deflectometer and ground-penetrating radar tests,recording pavement surface deflections,and analyzing recorded deflections by back-calculation *** procedure has two drawbacks:falling weight deflectometer and ground-penetrating radar are expensive tests;back-calculation ways has some inherent shortcomings compared to exact methods as they adopt a trial and error *** this study,three machine learning methods entitled Gaussian process regression,M5P model tree,and random forest used for the prediction of structural numbers in flexible *** of this paper is related to 759 flexible pavement sections at Semnan and Khuzestan provinces in Iran and includes“structural number”as output and“surface deflections and surface temperature”as *** accuracy of results was examined based on three criteria of R,MAE,and *** the methods employed in this paper,random forest is the most accurate as it yields the best values for above criteria(R=0.841,MAE=0.592,and RMSE=0.760).The proposed method does not require to use ground penetrating radar test,which in turn reduce costs and work *** machine learning methods instead of back-calculation improves the calculation process quality and accuracy.

The optimal distribution of fluid viscous dampers（FVD）in controlling the seismic response of eccentric,single-storey,moment resisting concrete structures is investigated using the previously defined center of damping constant（CDC）.For this purpose,a number of structural models with different one-way stiffness and strength eccentricities are *** nonlinear time history analyses are carried out for various arrangements of *** is shown that the arrangement of FVDs for controlling the torsional behavior due to asymmetry in the concrete structures is very dependent on the intensity of the peak ground acceleration（PGA）and the extent of the structural stiffness and strength *** results indicate that,in the linear range of structural behavior the stiffness eccentricity es which is the main parameter in determining the location of optimal CDC,is found to be less or smaller than the optimal damping constant eccentricity e＊d,i.e.,｜e＊d｜〉｜es｜.But,in the nonlinear range of structural behavior where the strength eccentricity er is the dominant factor in determining the location of optimal CDC,｜e＊d｜〉｜er｜.It is also concluded that for the majority of the plan-asymmetric,concrete structures considered in this study with er ≠ 0,the optimal CDC approaches the center of mass as er decreases.

Building damage maps after disasters can help us to better manage the rescue *** have used Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)data for extracting the building damage *** producing building damage maps from LiDAR data in a rapid manner,it is necessary to understand the effectiveness of features and ***,there is no comprehensive study on the performance of features and classifiers in identifying damaged *** this study,the effectiveness of three texture extraction methods and three fuzzy systems for producing the building damage maps was *** the proposed method,at first,a pre-processing stage was utilized to apply essential processes on post-event LiDAR ***,textural features were extracted from the pre-processed LiDAR ***,fuzzy inference systems were generated to make a relation between the extracted textural features of buildings and their damage *** proposed method was tested across three areas over the 2010 Haiti *** building damage maps with overall accuracies of 75.0%,78.1%and 61.4%were *** on outcomes,the fuzzy inference systems were stronger than random forest,bagging,boosting and support vector machine classifiers for detecting damaged buildings.

The inhibition ability of 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole （Nitramine） against the corrosion of AISI steel 4130 in 1 mol/L HCI solution was evaluated by polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） and chronoamperometry. Polarization studies indicated that nitramine retards both the cathodic and anodic reactions through chemical adsorption and blocks the active corrosion sites. The adsorption of this compound obeyed the Temkin＇s adsorption isotherm. The inhibition efficiency was increased with inhibitor concentration as well as temperature. EIS data were analysed by equivalent circuit model shows that as the inhibitor concentration increased the charge transfer resistance of steel increased whilst double layer capacitance decreased. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy, enthalpy, entropy and free energy of activation and adsorption were calculated. Atomic force microscopy and optical microscopy were used to study the steel surface with and without inhibitor.

A new Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes （RANS） turbulence model is developed in order to correctly predict the mean flow field in a draft tube operating under partial load using 2-D axisymmetric simulations. It is shown that although 2-D axisymmetric simulations cannot model the 3-D unsteady features of the vortex rope, they can give the average location of the vortex rope in the draft tube. Nevertheless, RANS simulations underpredict the turbulent kinetic energy （TKE） production and diffusion near the center of the draft tube where the vortex rope forms, resulting in incorrect calculation of TKE profiles and, hence, poor prediction of the axial velocity. Based on this observation, a new k- c turbulence RANS model taking into account the extra production and diffusion of TKE due to coherent structures associated with the vortex rope formation is developed. The new model can successfully predict the mean flow velocity with significant improvements in comparison with the realizable k - c model. This is attributed to better prediction of TKE production and diffusion by the new model in the draft tube under partial load. Specifically, the new model calculates 31% more production and 46% more diffusion right at the shear layer when compared to the k - ~ model.

In this investigation a new strategy involves the one-pot, three-component reaction of malononitrile, salycilaldehyde and phenol derivatives in the presence of high surface area of MgO is extended to the formation of chromeno[3,4-c]ehromene derivatives in good to excellent yields in a short reaction time. Also, the three component reactions of an aldehyde such as salycilaldehyde and ketones with malononitril for the formation of chromeno[3,4-c]pyridines are investigated.

The scouring around bridge foundations is a significant concern in civil engineering. Several research has been conducted experimentally and numerically to study the maximum scour depth around the foundations of a bridge in open channel conditions. In cold regions, where ice forms on lakes, reservoirs, and rivers, the interaction between ice and hydraulic structures is further complicated. The flow distribution varies significantly leading to deeper and larger scouring around bridge foundations. The present study took advantage of the data-driven methods to investigate the impacts of ice conditions to maximum scour depth. In total, 96 datasets were extracted from previous studies. The M5 decision tree, Genetic Expression Programming(GEP), and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) were used in data analysis. The models were developed using the train-and-test approach to avoid over-training. The mentioned developed models were further compared with a previous empirical equation associated with the prediction of maximum scour depth around piers under ice conditions. Finally, a sensitivity analysis method was applied to evaluate the performance of the data-driven models. It was found that the approaching velocity and pier diameter play the most crucial role in determination of the maximum scour depth. The result is generally in agreement with those of previous experimental studies.
