Ba.kground & objectives: Corona.irus disea.e 19 (COVID-19) ha. been decla.ed by World Hea.th Orga.iza.ion a. a.globa. pa.demic disea.e in Ma.ch 2020. a.ute respira.ory distress syndrome is frequent complica.ion of COVID-19 disea.e. Tra.heostomy is needed in ca.es of prolonged mecha.ica. ventila.ion (7 - 10 da.s) in pa.ients with a.ute respira.ory distress syndrome. Tra.heostomies a.e highly a.rosol genera.ing procedures, Otorhinola.yngologists a.d Hea.th Ca.e Workers (HCWs) a.e a. high risk of virus exposure. The a.m of this review is to eva.ua.e the risk of tra.smission of COVID-19 during tra.heostomy procedure, a.d to review the pra.tica. recommenda.ion a.d scope of the timing to reduce risk of tra.smission to HCW. Methods: PubMed da.a.a.e wa. sea.ched between a.ril 2020 to Ja. 2021 using the terms “Tra.heostomy a.D COVID-19 a.D Hea.th Ca.e Workers”. a.l the a.ticles tha. sha.ed the sa.e a.m were screened which resulted in 243 references without duplica.es. The title a.d a.stra.t screening excluded further 202 studies. Eventua.ly 9 full-text studies were included. Results: Five hundred a.d two COVID-19 pa.ients underwent tra.heostomies during the study period. Sixty-three percent of the procedure were done through open technique, while 37% of them were done through percuta.eous technique. Seventy-eight percent of them used full Persona. Protective Equipment (PPE) a.d 44.4% used Powered a.r Purifying Respira.or (Pa.R). Nega.ive Pressure Rooms (NPR) were used in 67%. Conclusion: The studies showed simila. nega.ive results on HCW infection despite much va.ia.ce in using PPE. However, there should be globa. unified recommenda.ions a.d guidelines rega.ding tra.heostomies in COVID-19 pa.ients to prevent future HCW infection.

Benign la.yngotra.hea. stenosis (LTS) is a.debilita.ing a.d potentia.ly life-threa.ening condition tha. is commonly ca.sed by ia.rogenic events a. a.result of endotra.hea. intuba.ion or tra.heostomy. Numerous ca.es a.e being published for pa.ients with corona.irus disea.e 2019 (COVID-19) who end up with severe LTS a.ter prolonged intuba.ion or tra.heostomy. Here, we presented two ca.es of LTS due to prolonged intuba.ion a.ter severe COVID-19 pneumonia. The cha.a.teristic of these two ca.es is tha. both of them needed second time intuba.ion a.d were rea.mitted beca.se of severe dyspnoea.a.d a.l the workup for post-COVID-19 complica.ions were investiga.ed except the LTS which wa. la.er dia.nosed a.ter one month of suffering of these pa.ients.
