BACKGROUND Insulin resistance,lipotoxicity,and mitochondrial dysfunction contribute to the pathogenesis of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD).Mitochondrial dysfunction impairs oxidative phosphorylation and increases reactive oxygen species production,leading to steatohepatitis and hepatic *** intelligence(AI)is a potent tool for disease diagnosis and risk *** To investigate mitochondrial DNA polymorphisms in susceptibility to MASLD and establish an AI model for MASLD *** Multiplex polymerase chain reaction was performed to comprehensively genotype 82 mitochondrial DNA variants in the screening dataset(n=264).The significant mitochondrial single nucleotide polymorphism was validated in an independent cohort(n=1046)using the Taqman®allelic discrimination *** forest,eXtreme gradient boosting,Naive Bayes,and logistic regression algorithms were employed to construct an AI model for *** In the screening dataset,only mt12361A>G was significantly associated with ***12361A>G showed borderline significance in MASLD patients with 2-3 cardiometabolic traits compared with controls in the validation dataset(P=0.055).Multivariate regression analysis confirmed that mt12361A>G was an independent risk factor of MASLD[odds ratio(OR)=2.54,95%confidence interval(CI):1.19-5.43,P=0.016].The genetic effect of mt12361A>G was significant in the non-diabetic group but not in the diabetic ***12361G carriers had a 2.8-fold higher risk than A carriers in the non-diabetic group(OR=2.80,95%CI:1.22-6.41,P=0.015).By integrating clinical features and mt12361A>G,random forest outperformed other algorithms in detecting MASLD[training area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)=1.000,validation AUROC=0.876].CONCLUSION The mt12361A>G variant increased the severity of MASLD in non-diabetic *** supports the screening and management of MASLD in primary care settings.

The perfection of the cross-border regional innovation system of the Pearl River Delta(PRD) and Hong Kong remarkably underpins the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA) towards an international technological innovation *** paper focuses on the relational characteristics of the usage of technological innovation functions and elements, including labor force, technology, and producer services from Hong Kong by high-technology firms in the PRD, and probes into the influencing factors by integrating the objective perspective on the impact of firm-level socioeconomic attributes and subjective perspective on the open interpretations on the reasons by using or not using technological innovation functions and elements from Hong Kong by various stakeholders in high-technology domains in the PRD. Key research findings are fourfold. First, Hong Kong's technological innovation functions primarily ride on its institutional advantages under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework to empower high-technology firms in the PRD by expanding their international market, international business operation, and financing, but cross-border investment and entrepreneurship has retrieved to a relatively marginalized position. The degree of supply-demand relations of producer services is the highest, followed by labor force and ***, Hong Kong-invested, large-sized, and long-standing high-technology firms in the PRD are more inclined to use technological innovation elements from Hong Kong, while domestic,small-and-medium-sized, and start-up high-technology firms in the PRD are in turn, gradually unhooked from the supply of technological innovation elements from Hong Kong. Early studies suggested that estrogen receptor alpha （ERa） is involved in estrogen-mediated imprinting effects in prostate development. We recently reported a more complete ERa knockout （KO） mouse model via mating β-actin Cre transgenic mice with floxed ERa mice. These ACTB-ERaKO male mice showed defects in prostatic branching morphogenesis, which demonstrates that ERa is necessary to maintain proliferative events in the prostate. However, within which prostate cell type ERa exerts those important functions remains to be elucidated. To address this, we have bred floxed ERa mice with either fibroblast-specific protein （FSP）-Cre or probasin-Cre transgenic mice to generate a mouse model that has deleted ERa gene in either stromal fibroblast （FSP-ERaKO） or epithelial （pes-ERaKO） prostate cells. We found that circulating testosterone and fertility were not altered in *** and pes-ERaKO male mice. Prostates of FSP-ERaKO mice have less branching morphogenesis compared to that of wild-type littermates. Further analyses indicated that loss of stromal ERa leads to increased stromal apoptosis, reduced expression of insulin-likegrowth factor-1 （IGF-1） and FGFIO, and increased expression of BMP4. Collectively, we have established the first in vivo prostate stromal and epithelial selective ERaKO mouse models and the results from these mice indicated that stromal fibroblast ERa plays important roles in prostatic branching morphogenesis via a paracrine fashion. Selective deletion of the ERa gene in mouse prostate epithelial cells by probasin-Cre does not affect the regular prostate development and homeostasis.

A blue phosphor Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+(CAP:Eu2+) was synthesized by solid state *** Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+ exhibited high quantum efficiency and excellent thermal *** luminescent intensity of Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+ was found to be 128% under excitation at 380 nm,149% under 400 nm,and 247% under 420 nm as high as that of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+.The optimal doping concentration was observed to 11 mol.% of CAP:Eu2+.The energy transfer between Eu2+ ions in CAP were occurred via electric multipolar interaction,and the critical transfer distance was estimated to be 1.26 nm.A mixture of blue-emitting Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+,green-emitting(Ba,Sr)2SiO4:Eu2+ and red-emitting CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ phosphors were selected in conjunction with 400 nm chip to fabricate white LED *** average color-rendering index Ra and correlated color temperature(Tc) of the white LEDs were found to be 93.4 and 4590 K,*** results indicated that it was a promising candidate as a blue-emitting phosphor for the near-UV white light-emitting diodes.

Inspired by the finding that the large waiting time of solar flares presents a power-law distribution, we investigate the waiting time distribution (WTD) of coronal mass ejections (CMEs). SOHO/LASCO CME observations from 1996 to 2003 are used in this study. It is shown that the observed CMEs have a similar power-law behavior to the flares, with an almost identical power-law index. This strongly supports the viewpoint that solar flares and CMEs are different manifestations of the same physical process. We have also investigated separately the WTDs of fast-type and slow-type CMEs and found that their indices are identical, which imply that both types of CME may originate from the same physical mechanism.
