Plant growth and metabolism of exotic and native Crotalaria species for mine land rehabilitation in the Amazon

Despite its enormous benefits,mining is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the mined areas,creating better conditions for the establishment of plant species which is *** study evaluated mineral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(N)metabolism of two Crotalaria species[Cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and Crotalaria maypu-rensis(native species from Carajás Mineral Province(CMP)]established on a waste pile from an iron mine in CMP.A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization mixtures were tested(i=NPK;ii=NPK+micronutrients;iii=NPK+micronutrients+organic compost;iv=PK;v=PK+micronutrients;vi=PK+micronutrients+organic compost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatments with NPK and micronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** Crotalaria had a greater number of nodules,higher nodule dry mass,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free ammonium as the predominant N form,reflecting greater increments in biomass compared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of mining areas should be considered,mainly because it has good development and meets current government legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.

Clear Cell Pleomorphic Dermal Sarcoma: A Case report and Literature review

Introduction: Atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX) and pleomorphic dermal sarcoma (PDS) are one spectrum of rare cutaneous neoplasms that typically arise in sun-exposed skin of older population. AFX/PDS is essentially diagnosis of exclusion requiring Immunohistochemical work-up to exclude other types of tumors. Case report: We present a case involving an ulcerated solitary lesion on the scalp of an elderly man. Histological examination revealed that the dermal tumor was composed of large pleomorphic, epithelioid, and spindle cells with clear cytoplasm. These cells were negative for cytokeratins, melanocytes and smooth muscle markers, but positive for CD10. These findings are consistent with a diagnosis of clear cell (CC) PDS. Conclusion: PDS is a low-grade malignancy that can recur locally and metastasize, which is distinguished from AFX by its larg.r.size and the presence of ag.r.ssive histopathologic features including deeper invasion into the subcutaneous tissue, tumor necrosis, and lymphovascular and/or perineural involvement. Among several histopathologic variants, the CC variant is extremely rare with only two cases of PDS reported in the literature to date.

rare-earth silicates are promising environmental barrier coatings(EBCs)that can protect SiC_(f)/Si C_(m)substrates in next-genera tion gas turbine ***,rE_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)(rE=Yb and Ho)shows potential as an EBC due to its coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)compatible with substrates and high resistance to water vapor *** target operating temperature for next-generation tur bine blades is 1400°*** is inevitable during adhesion to molten volcanic ash,and thus,understanding the corrosion behavior o the material is crucial to its *** study investigates the high-temperature corrosion behavior of sintered rE_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)(rE=Yb and Ho).Samples were prepared using a solid-state reaction and hot-press *** were then exposed to volcanic ash at 1400°C for 224,and 48 *** 48 h of exposure,volcanic ash did not react with Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)but penetrated its interior,causing *** Ho_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)was partially dissolved in the molten volcanic ash,forming a reaction zone that prevented volcanic ash melts from penetrating the *** increasing heat treatment time,the reaction zone expanded,and the thickness of the acicular apatite grains increased The Ca:Si ratios in the residual volcanic ash were mostly unchanged for Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)but decreased considerably over time for Ho_(2)Si_(2)O_(7).Th Ca in volcanic ash was consumed and formed apatite,indicating that rE^(3+)ions with large ionic radii(Ho>Yb)easily precipitated apatit from the volcanic ash.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of wedelolactone,a major flavonoid from Vietnamese Eclipta prostrata(L)L.,on inflammation and insulin ***:Wedelolactone was extracted from the leaves of Vietnamese Eclipta prostrata(L.)*** methanol by *** effects of wedelolactone on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced cytokine production,reactive oxygen species(rOS)generation,and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)oxidase activities in raw 264.7 cells were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),specific immunofluorescent dyes and luminometric analysis,*** addition,its effects on glucose uptake and the protein expression of insulin receptor substrate 1(IrS1)and glucose transporter 4(gLUT4)were examined in 3T3-L1 cells by immunofluorescent dyes and Western ***:Wedelolactone at 30μg/mL significantly inhibited LPS-induced production of tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin(IL)-6,and IL-8(Preduced rOS generation and NADPH oxidase activities in LPS-stimulated raw 264.7 cells(Prthermore,wedelolactone showed anti-insulin resistance activity,as evidenced by improved glucose uptake and the upregulated expression of IrS1 and gLUT4 in 3T3-L1 cells(Presistance effects,which may be used for the treatment of diabetes and inflammation-associated diseases.

BACKgrOUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract,with tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αplaying a key role in its ***,a decoy receptor for TNF,is used to treat inflammatory *** secretome derived from adipose-derived stem cells(ASCs)has anti-inflammatory effects,making it a promising therapeutic option for *** To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of the secretome obtained from ASCs synthesizing etanercept on colon cells and in a dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced IBD mouse *** ASCs were transfected with etanercept-encoding mini-circle plasmids to create etanercept-producing *** secretory material from these cells was then tested for anti-inflammatory effects both in vitro and in a DSS-induced IBD mouse *** This study revealed promising.r.sults indicating that the group treated with the secretome derived from etanercept-synthesizing ASCs[Etanercept-Secretome(Et-Sec)group]had significantly lower expression levels of inflammatory mediators,such as interleukin-6,Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1,and TNF-α,when compared to the control secretome(Ct-Sec).Moreover,the Et-Sec group exhibited a marked therapeutic effect in terms of preserving the architecture of intestinal tissue compared to the *** These results suggest that the secretome derived from ASCs that synthesize etanercept has potential as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of IBD,potentially enhancing treatment efficacy by merging the anti-inflam-matory qualities of the ASC secretome with etanercept's targeted approach to better address the multifaceted pathophysiology of IBD.

Stable operation of highly loaded pure Si-Fe anode under ambient pressure via carboxy silane-directed robust solid electrolyte interphase

Incorporation of higher content Si anode material beyond 5 wt% to Li-ion batteries(LIBs)is challenging,owing to large volume change,swelling,and solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)instability ***,a strategy of diacetoxydimethylsilane(DAMS)additive-directed SEI stabilization is proposed for a stable operation of Si-0.33FeSi_(2)(named as Si-Fe)anode without graphite,which provides siloxane inorganics and organics enrichment that compensate insufficient passivation of fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC)additive and reduce a dependence on *** stable cycling performance of highly loaded(3.5 mA h cm^(-2))pure Si-Fe anode is achieved with 2 wt%DAMS combined with 9 wt%FEC additives under ambient pressure,yielding high capacity 1270 mA h g^(-1)at 0.5 C and significantly improved capacity retention of 81% after 100 cycles,whereas short circuit and rapid capacity fade occur with FEC only ***-directed robust SEI layer dramatically suppresses swelling and particles crossover through separator,and therefore prevents short circuit,demonstrating a possible operation of pure Si or Sidominant anodes in the next-generation high-energy-density and safe LIBs.
