Bioengineered pseudovirus nanoparticles displaying the HA1 antigens of influenza viruses for enhanced immunogenicity

Even with implementation of current influenza vaccines,influenza still claims up to 500,000 lives worldwide annually,indicating a need for a better vaccine strategy.We have developed a technology to generate unique S_(60)-HA1 pseudovirus nanoparticles(PVNPs)that display the receptor-binding HA1 domains of influenza viruses.Each self-assembled S_(60)-HA1 PVNP consists of a T=1 icosahedral S_(60) nanoparticle that resembles the inner shell of norovirus capsid and 60 surface-displayed HA1 antigens that are excellent vaccine targets.Soluble S_(60)-HA1 PVNPs presenting HA1 antigens of H7N9 influenza virus subtypes have been produced efficiently in large amount.Their three-dimensional(3D)structures have been solved by cryogenic electron microscopy.The PVNP-displayed HA1 antigens react with HA-specific antibody,and retain authentic sialic acid binding specificity and hemagglutinate human erythrocytes.The PVNPs are highly immunogenic,eliciting high titers of HA1-specific antibodies in mice and the mouse sera strongly inhibited hemagglutinations of homologous and heterologous influenza virus HA proteins.Therefore,the S_(60)-HA1 PVNPs may provide useful reagents to study influenza viruses and offer a potential new vaccine tactic to fight the deadly influenza disease.

目的:确定需要连续性肾脏替代(continuous renal replacement therapy,CRRT)治疗危重症患儿病死因素。设计基于前瞻性注册登记的回顾性观察性研究。场所拥有30张床位的三级、四级转诊PICU。对象接受CRRT的危重症患儿。干预连续性肾脏替代治疗。测量方法与主要结果研究期间接受CRRT治疗的161例患儿总体病死率为36%(n=58),接受体外膜肺氧合(extracorporeal membrane oxygenation,ECmO)治疗患儿病死率为47.5%(28/59),显着高于无需ECmO治疗者[28.4%(29/102),P=0.022]。根据入院诊断,血液肿瘤患儿病死率最高(77.8%),肾脏病患儿则最低(5.6%)。基于多元Logistic回归分析,入院时疾病严重程度评分较高(校正OR 1.49,95%CI 1.18~1.89,P20%(OR 15.03,95%CI 4.03~56.05, P<0.001),及CRRT启动时机(OR 1.01,95%CI 1.00~1.01,P=0.040)与病死率独立相关。本研究人群中,从入住ICU起CRRT启动每延迟1 h,死亡几率增加1%。结论CRRT患儿病死率高,且与基础疾病,疾病严重程度和液体过负荷程度相关。在急性肾损伤及液体过负荷风险较高的危重症患儿中,早期启动CRRT可能降低病死率。

Trophic structure and energy flow of the resettled maritime area of the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh through ECOPATH

The existing study was taken to represent the current information in order to develop a mass-balanced ecosystem model within the resettled maritime boundary area of the Bay of Bengal(BoB),Bangladesh from July 2016 to June 2017 through ECOPATH approach covering over 90 000 km2.A total of 19 functional groups were considered representing all trophic levels in the foodweb where estimated trophic interactions between the groups were varied from 1(primary producers and detritus)to 3.45(sharks).The ecotrophic efficiency(EE)of most of the consumers was greater than 0.80;symbolizing a largely exploited ecosystem and high energy transfer from lower to higher trophic levels.moreover,the gross efficiency(0.001 8)and transfer efficiency(11.12%)of the whole system symbolizes the“Developing Systems”with somewhat maturity currently.Ecosystem’s overhead(64.6)and ascendancy(35.4)also designate the ecosystem’s stability.Thus,this study determines that the resettled maritime area of BoB reserves significant backup strength to face stress situations having capacity to rapid restoration to the original states.

Assessing recent gradual upsurge of marine captured Hilsa stock(Tenualosa ilisha)in Bangladesh

The anadromous Hilsa shad(Tenualosa ilisha)fishery is the prime single species fishery of Bangladesh that driven by open access system which was selected for this study.Key purpose of this study was to assess the mSY(maximum Sustainable Yield)in order to review the effectivity of the ongoing management policy of this fishery.For this reason,time series maritime or downstream catch-effort data of the Bay of Bengal were assembled from the Department of Fisheries,Bangladesh.mSY,CPUE and other population parameters were estimated through Surplus Production models(SPms)using computer software packages of CEDA,ASPIC and TropFishR.Assessed biological reference points of mSY from the best fitted CEDA package was 282,100 t(R^(2)=0.822)for the normal assumptions of the Schaefer and Pella-Tomlinson models.mSY values from the ASPIC packages(324,100 t and 263,500 t;for Fox and Schaefer model)and Schaefer model from TropFishR(345,486t)were larger than the catch in 2017(278,948 t).The values of F ratio(F/FmSY)for all SPms were found less than 1 and B ratio(B/BmSY)were greater than 1 that clearly indicate the gradual upsurge of the Hilsa stock.Based on the above findings of BRPs,it also proves the effectivity of the current“Hilsa fishery management action plan”by the authorities.

This paper provides a technical analysis of energy harvesting (EH) in the field of power and energy sector, including different aspects of harvesting energy, individual case history, control strategies of harvesting in the field of power and energy sector together with the current trend and future aspects of it. EH is comparatively a new concept which is growing very fast since the 20th century and catching new generation research approaches. This paper not only describes the past and current scenarios of harvesting energy with radio frequency (RF) and renewables but also gives author’s own anticipation of the upcoming future trends of it by comparing the case histories.

The effect of temperature,p H and metal ions on the activity and stability of crude protease from Bacillus licheniformis mZK03 was studied.The fermentation in shake culture revealed that maximum level of enzyme was produced at 37°C and p H 8.5 after 39 hr at 120 rpm.It lost its activity rapidly above 50°C and half-life of the protease at this temperature was 50 min with optimum activity at 40°C.It was most stable at p H 8.5 and lost its activity rapidly above p H 10.0,and at p H 11.0 reached30% of the activity obtained at p H 9.0.The enzyme lost its activity completely at p H 13.0.Optimum proteolytic activity was found at 40 o C and p H 9.5.The enzyme activity was accelerated by the addition of mg2+,Ca2+ and mn2+,whereas it was inhibited by Hg2+.

Radiological Concentration Distribution of <sup>134</sup>Cs and <sup>137</sup>Cs Due to a Hypothetical Accident of TRIGA Research Reactor

The assessment of the radiological concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs owing to hypothetical accident of TRIGA mark-II research Reactor at AERE, Savar, Bangladesh is presented here in this work. The concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs was estimated in different pathways consisting of the ingestion of plants, milk, and meat. The highest air concentration has been determined at 65 m distance from the core of the reactor. The maximum concentration passed off without delay simply after the accident in various directions. Local meteorological information such as average wind velocity and wind frequency were analyzed. Considering all directions, the highest concentration has been observed in the “S” direction. The concentrations of 134Cs and 137Cs were determined in ground, vegetation, milk and meat. The concentration of 137Cs is investigated to be higher than the 134Cs. The concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs was found to be lower in vegetation, milk, and meat than that of ground concentration. Overall, in this study, the concentration in meat has been investigated to be lower. In case of a reactor accident, the concentration assessment due to the ingestion of vegetables, milk, and meat will be a valuable guide for insuring radiological protection across the research reactor at AERE, Savar, Bangladesh.
