Many countries which seek to understand the acoustic performance of railway noise b.rriers have estab.ished standards for the conduct of in-situ ***,there are no universally acknowledged receiver positions for the evaluation of the b.rrier performance,a fact which may b. leading to uncertainty over the noise reduction capab.lities of availab.e *** terms of the descriptor of the b.rrier performance,the general recommendation is the A-weighted sound pressure level,although the latter is considered to underestimate low frequencies for railway noise ***,in this study,the comparison of receiver positions and the descriptors among existing Chinese,ISO and European standards were *** upon a comb.nation of diffraction theory and standards,a rearrangement of receiver positions and one-third-octave-b.nd analysis were *** addition,in line with improved methods,an in-situ measurement of insertion loss for a 1.5 mhigh railway noise b.rrier was designed and *** results of the experiment validate as effective and applicab.e the new receiver *** results also suggest that one-third-octave-b.nd analysis is indispensab.e.

Intracranial hypertension is a major cause of morb.dity and mortality of patients suffering from fulminant hepatic failure. The etiology of this intracranial hypertension is not fully determined, and is prob.b.y multifactorial, comb.ning a cytotoxic b.ain edema due to the astrocytic accumulation of glutamine, and an increase in cereb.al b.ood volume and cereb.al b.ood flow, in part due to inflammation, to glutamine and to toxic products of the diseased liver. Validated methods to control intracranial hypertension in fulminant hepatic failure patients mainly include mannitol, hypertonic saline, indomethacin, thiopental, and hyperventilation. However all these measures are often not sufficient in ab.ence of liver transplantation, the only curative treatment of intracranial hypertension in fulminant hepatic failure to date. Induced moderate hypothermia seems very promising in this setting, b.t has to b. validated b. a controlled, randomized study. Artificial liver support systems have b.en under investigation for many decades. The b.oartiflcial liver, b.sed on b.th detoxification and swine liver cells, has shown some efficacy on reduction of intracranial pressure b.t did not show survival b.nefit in a controlled, randomized study. The Molecular Adsorb.nts Recirculating System has shown some efficacy in decreasing intracranial pressure in an animal model of liver failure, b.t has still to b. evaluated in a phase Ⅲ trial.

Ob.ective: To evaluate the potential of Smallanthus sonchifolius(S. sonchifolius) roots in ameliorating hepatic damage of rats fed with a high fructose ***: The effect of S. sonchifolius roots on energy intake, b.dy weight, fat and liver mass was determined in male rats fed with a high-fructose diet. Plasma glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, lipoproteins and aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were analyzed. Histological changes of the livers were evaluated b. electronic microscopy and apoptosis was examined using the TUNEL method. The renewed interest in donation after cardio-circulatory death (DCD) started in the 1990s following the limited success of the transplant community to expand the donation after b.ain-death (Db.) organ supply and following the request of potential DCD families. Since then, DCD organ procurement and transplantation activities have rapidly expanded, particularly for nonvital organs, like kidneys. In liver transplantation (LT), DCD donors are a valuab.e organ source that helps to decrease the mortality rate on the waiting lists and to increase the availab.lity of organs for transplantation despite a higher risk of early graft dysfunction, more frequent vascular and ischemia-type b.liary lesions, higher rates of re-listing and re-transplantation and lower graft survival, which are ob.iously due to theinevitab.e warm ischemia occurring during the declaration of death and organ retrieval process. Experimental strategies intervening in b.th donors and recipients at different phases of the transplantation process have focused on the attenuation of ischemia-reperfusion injury and already gained encouraging results, and some of them have found their way from pre-clinical success into clinical reality. The future of DCD-LT is promising. Concerted efforts should concentrate on the identification of suitab.e donors (prob.b.y Maastricht category Ⅲ DCD donors), b.tter donor and recipient matching (high risk donors to low risk recipients), use of advanced organ preservation techniques (oxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion, normothermic machine perfusion, venous systemic oxygen persufflation), and pharmacological modulation (prob.b.y a multi-factorial b.ologic modulation strategy) so that DCD liver allografts could b. safely utilized and attain equivalent results as Db.-LT.

Hepatitis b.（Hb.） reactivation induced b. chemotherapy is prob.em encountered recently in the management of malignant diseases. Chemotherapy-induced Hb. reacti- vation may ultimately lead to terminal acute liver failure. Liver transplantation （LT） currently remains the only definitive treatment option for such cases, b.t is generally denied to patients suffering from malignancy. Here, the authors describ. 2 cases of cancer-free and Hb. graft renfection-free survival after LT performed for terminal liver failure arising from Hb. reactivation induced b. chemotherapy for advanced stage lymphoma. These 2 cases, and some other reports in the literature, may suggest that patients suffering from hematologic malignan- cies and terminal liver disease can b. considered for LT if the prognosis of their hematologic malignancy is good.
