In this paper, an innovative recursive filtering algorithm(RFA) is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems(NSs) subject to multiplicative noises(MNs) and measurement outliers(MOs). Initially, the MNs are employed to formulate the random influence on the NSs with the stochastic noises. Next, the outlier phenomenon could occur unpredictably during measurement transmission. Then, a self-adaptive saturation function is introduced to the constructed filter to mitigate the influence of MOs on the filter performance.In this paper, we design a resistant-outlier filter for NSs with MNs and MOs, and the filter gain ensures that the trace of the filtering error covariance matrix is minimized by solving the constructed Riccati-like difference equations. Moreover, the exponential boundedness of the filtering error in the sense of mean square is analyzed. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed RFA is illustrated by a simulation example when the MOs occur.

Perylene derivative with circularly polarized luminescence(CPL) at aggregated state was seldom reported due to the strong ACQ(aggregation-caused quench) effect at aggregation. In this work, a novel cholesterol-tetraphenylethylene-perylene derivative(TPE-P) was designed and synthesized in moderate yield. It exhibited liquid crystalline behavior with orderly hexagonal columnar mesophase and good fluorescence emission at long wavelength(600-700 nm) not only in solution but also at aggregated states based on the AIE(aggregation-induced emission)-FRET(fluorescence resonance energy transfer) effect between tetraphenylethylene unit and perylene moiety. Moreover, the circular dichroism(CD) and CPL studies suggested the effective chiral transfer from cholesterol unit to tetraphenylethylene unit and perylene skeleton due to the spiral liquid crystalline self-assembly. The CD and CPL signals showed the order of THF < THF-hexane < solid film < meosphase, indicating that the higher spiral orderly degree resulted in the stronger chiral transfer. The largest |glum| value for mesophase excited at 320 nm was as high as 1.5×10^(−2) based on the combining effect of AIE-FRET and chiral transfer. This research not only reported a novel CPL perylene derivative at aggregated state, but also confirmed that the combination of AIE-FRET effect and chiral transfer of liquid crytalline phase was an effective method to construct normal dye with excellent CPL property in aggregated state.

Engineering the inter-island plasmonic coupling in homometallic Au-Au_(n)core-satellite structures

We show that through strong ligand mediated interfacial energy control between Au seeds and the deposited Au,the non-wetting growth of Au on Au seeds led to the formation homometallic core-satellite nanostructures.To modulate the intraparticle plasmonic coupling between the core and the satellites,the number and size of the Au satellites,and their inter-island distances were continuously tuned by varying the growth kinetics.As a result of the precise structural control,the plasmonic absorptions of the core-satellite nanostructures were tuned from visible to near-infrared(NIR)spectral range,and the extent of spectral modulation(500-1300 nm)is among the best of the literature methods.This synthetic advance enriches the toolbox for nanosynthesis and points to a new direction in the exploration of sophisticated functional designs.

We demonstrate the regioselective growth of Au on Au nanobipyramids,either with etching of the tips,uniform coating except the tips,or forming a single island on the axial tip or an island on the equatorial corner.Importantly,the regioselectivity not only arises from the local curvature,as suggested by the recent literature,but also critically depends on the extent of ligand coverage on the seed surface.It is important to consider the competitive growth together with the curvature−ligand interplay:when there are insufficient ligands,they bind preferentially to the sharp tip for high surface energy,so that the remaining growth materials are diverted elsewhere;when the bipyramid is fully covered by ligands,the growth then selectively occurs at the tips because of the larger gaps among the ligands there.Our results demonstrate the great potentials in the rational design and synthesis when constructing sophisticated hybrid structures for functional nanomaterials.

In this study,a novel method termed hydrothermal carbonized deposition on chips(HTCDC)is proposed to prepare aluminum alloy-amorphous carbon(Al/APC)composites.The influences of glucose concentration in hydrothermally reaction on the microstructure and wear resistance of the Al/APC composites were thoroughly studied.Amorphous carbon was deposited by HTCDC onto Al–20Si chips as a supporter.The Al/APC composites were prepared by hot extrusion from the chips.The results indicated that a uniform carbon film was successfully synthesized on the surface of the chips,improving the wear resistance of the Al/APC composites.With increasing concentration of glucose solution,the size and the number of delamination on the wear surface and the coefficient of friction decreased,and the wear rate decreased at first and then increased.In addition,the dehydration and carbonization processes in the hydrothermal reaction of glucose were analyzed.A schematic model of the wear surface of the Al/APC composites was established and the wear mechanisms were discussed.

Driven by the needs of precision medicine,current imaging techniques are under continuous development to offer more accurate and comprehensive information beyond traditional macroscopic anatomical images.Multispectral color-coded(multicolor)^(19)F magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)is receiving increasing attention owing to its capability for visualizing quantitative and multiplexed molecular information during various biological processes.The chemical design and preparation of^(19)F probes lie at the core of multicolor^(19)F MRI since their performance dominates the accomplishment of this technique.Herein,the working principles of multicolor^(19)F MRI are briefly introduced.Recent progress on multicolor^(19)F MRI probes for simultaneous in vivo visualization of multiple biological targets is summarized.Finally,current challenges and potential solutions in this fast-developing field are discussed.

Role of helicity of a-helical antimicrobia peptides to improve specificity

A major barrier to the use of antimicrobial peptides as antibiotics is the toxicity or ability to lyse eukaryotic cells. In this study, a 26-residue amphipathic a-helical antimicrobial peptide A12L/A20L （Ac-KWKSFLKTFKSLK KTVLHTLLKAISS-amide） was used as the framework to design a series of D- and L-diastereomeric peptides and study the relationships of helicity and biological activi- ties of o-helical antimicrobial peptides. Peptide helicity was measured by circular dichroism spectroscopy and demonstrated to correlate with the hydrophobicity of peptides and the numbers of D-amino acid substitu- tions. Therapeutic index was used to evaluate the selectivity of peptides against prokaryotic cells. By introducing D-amino acids to replace the original L-amino acids on the non-polar face or the polar face of the helix, the hemolytic activity of peptide analogs have been significantly reduced. Compared to the parent peptide, the therapeutic indices were improved of 44-fold and 22-fold against Gram-negative and Gram- positive bacteria, respectively. In addition, D- and L-diastereomeric peptides exhibited lower interaction with zwitterionic eukaryotic membrane and showed the significant membrane damaging effect to bacterial cells. Helicity was proved to play a crucial role on peptide specificity and biological activities. By simply replacing the hydrophobic or the hydrophilic amino acid residues on the non-polar or the polar face of these amphipathic derivatives of the parent peptide with D-amino acids, we demonstrated that this method could have excellent potential for the rational design of antimicrobial pep- tides with enhanced specificity.

Dr.Liu Shuzheng as a well-known educator and radiobiologist has started to work on the physiological benefits of low-dose radiation since 1970s.His research on the distinct effects of low-dose radiation from those of high-dose radiation has nationally and internationally impacted radiobiology,medicine and oncology.Therefore,here we briefly review the research from his research team from early years to last two decades.Two important facts related to LDR biological effects are the hormesis and adaptive response,both have been the main focuses of Dr.Liu Shuzheng early research.In the last couple of decades Dr.Liu Shuzheng have further investigated how to apply these important mechanisms into clinical translational research,such as the potential to application of LDRhormesis to enhance tumor’s chemo-or radio-therapy and LDR-induced adaptive response to protect normal tissue from chemo-or radio-therapy related side toxic effects.Therefore,Dr.Liu has provided important guidance and role model for his trainees in the continue of their research career in radiation biology,medicine and oncology.

Developer recommendation on bug commenting:a ranking approach for the developer crowd

A bug tracking system provides a collaborative platform for the developer crowd. After a bug report is submitted, developers can make comments to supplement the details of the bug report. Due to the large number of developers and bug reports, it is hard to determine which developer(also called commenter) is able to comment on a particular bug report. We refer to the problem of recommending developers for commenting on bug reports as commenter recommendation. In this paper, we perform an empirical analysis on commenter recommendation based on five-year bug reports of four open source projects. First, we preliminarily analyze bug comments and commenters in three categories, the relationship between commenters and fixers, the data scale of comments, and the collaboration on bug commenting. Second, we design a recommendation approach via ranking developers in the crowd to reduce the manual effort of identifying commenters. In this approach,we formulize the commenter recommendation problem as a multi-label recommendation task and leverage both developer collaboration and bug content to find out appropriate commenters. Experimental results show that our approach can effectively recommend commenters; 41% to 75% of the recall value is achieved for top-10 recommendation. Our empirical analysis on bug commenting can help developers understand and improve the process of fixing bugs.
