This paper documents a 7800-year proxy record from the Shenjiadian peatland on the Sanjiang Plain in Northeast ***-resolution plant macrofossil and colorimetric humification methods were used to reconstruct the vegetation and hydrologic history from a 193 cm-long sedimentary *** correspondence analysis(DCA) was applied to transform the raw plant macrofossil data into latent indices of peatland water *** vegetation community transited from an Equisetum fluviatile community to a Carex lasiocarpa community at approximately 3800 cal yr BP and was followed by a Carex-shrub community at approximately 480 cal yr *** on the plant macrofossil DCA axis 1 scores and humification values,we distinguished four hydrologic periods:a wet period from 7800 cal yr BP to 4500 cal yr BP,dry periods up to 1600 cal yr BP,drier periods until 300 cal yr BP,and the driest period from 300 cal yr BP until the *** a comparison with other climate records,we suggest that the East Asian summer monsoon(EAM) was the main driving force for vegetation and water level changes to the Shenjiadian peatland through its impacts on precipitation.

Density functional theory（DFT） calculations were carried out to investigate the geometry structures, redox properties and second-order nonlinear optical（NLO） properties of ferrocene（Fc）-dithiolenes hybrid complexes. The switchable second-order NLO properties of these complexes are induced by the redox process. The oxidized process significantly affects the geometrical structures of the dithiolene moieties, that is, the embowed dithiolene moieties change into planar structures. It supports that the dithiolene moieties are the oxidized center. The βtot values of the cationic species are at least 4 and 10 times those of their corresponding parent complexes, respectively. Further, the time-dependent DFT calculation illustrates that the low-energy absorption（which is helpful for the large NLO response） is mainly assigned to intra-ligand charge transfer [π（ex-dithiolene）→π（ex-dithiolene）]. These results suggest the potential use of the novel Fc-based dithiolenes complexes as versatile and fascinating NLO switching materials.

The recent ecological improvement in the Mu Us Desert of China, largely attributed to large-scale afforestation projects, has created new opportunities for cultivation activities. However, the subsequent rapid increase in reclamation on desertification land and its impact on desertification have raised concerns. In this study, we first extracted data on cultivated land and desertification land in 1975,1990, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020 through the human-computer interaction visual interpretation method. By overlaying the cultivated land dynamics and desertification land, we subsequently explored the effect of cultivation activities on desertification in the Mu Us Desert during the six periods from 1975 to 2020(1975–1990, 1990–2000, 2000–2005, 2005–2010, 2010–2015, and 2015–2020). The results showed that cultivated land in the Mu Us Desert showed a fluctuating and increasing trend from 3769.26 km~2 in 1975 to 4865.73 km~2 in 2020, with 2010 as the turning point for the recent rapid increase. The main contributors included the large and regular patches distributed in Yuyang District and Shenmu of Shaanxi Province, and relatively smaller patches concentrated in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The increased cultivated land from the reclamation on desertification land was dominated by moderate and severe desertification lands, and the decreased cultivated land that was transferred into desertification land as abandoned cultivated land was dominated by slight and moderate desertification lands. The effect of cultivation activities on desertification reversal(average area proportion of 10.61% for reversed desertification land) was greater than that of the development of desertification(average area proportion of 5.82% for developed desertification land). Studies conducted by our group on the mechanism of ＂kidney governing bones＂ theory in traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） are reviewed in this paper. Conclusions can be summarized as follows. （1） Neuroendocrine-immune network （NIN）-osteoclast regulatory pathway OPG-RANKL-RANK is one of the mechanisms of ＂kidney governing bones.＂ Although kidney-reinforcing therapy is regarded as one of the holistic regulatory mechanisms of the body, characteristic holistic regulation in TCM can be reflected through nonselective regulation of the NIN during kidney reinforcement therapy, which can be used to treat osteoporosis through microadjustments in the microenvironment of the bone marrow. （2） Marrow exhaustion in TCM, which is the state wherein lipocytes in the bone marrow increase whereas other cells decrease, serves as the pathogenesis of osteoporosis brought about by failure of the ＂kidney governing bones.＂（3） The kidney in TCM can be regarded as a complex system comprising multiple functional units in the body, including the unit ＂governing bones.＂ Kidney deficiency refers to a deficiency in only one or more units of the kidney system and not the whole system itself, which explains the kidney-reinforcing effect of many herbs; some herbs can treat osteoporosis, but some cannot. Although both classified as kidney-reinforcing agents, the former can resolve failure of the ＂kidney governing bones＂ unit while the latter regulates the failure of other units in the kidney system. Despite the current understanding on ＂kidney governing bones＂ theory, the mechanism of ＂kidney governing bones＂ remains complicated and unresolved. Thus, further studies in this area are warranted.

Immunoregulatory effects of Tripterygium wilfordii Hook Fand its extracts in clinical practice

Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TwHF) and its extracts have long been used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and kidney disease due to their anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory, and other pharmacological effects. However, the clinical immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts remain unclear, so we reviewed their effects for use in clinical practice. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent literature on the immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts in clinical studies. TwHF and its extracts affect the proliferation and activation of T and B cells;ratio of T cell subsets;inflammatory response of monocytes, macrophages, and immunoglobulins;and secretion of many cytokines. Together, these effects dictate immune function in a variety of diseases. TwHF and its extracts can be used alone or in combination with existing therapies against many immune disorders through immunomodulation.

China is striving to build a“Beautiful China”characterized by clean *** country has committed to further reducing its national mean fine particle(PM_(2.5))concentration by 10%from 2020 to 2025,following the substantial improvements in its air quality during the past ***,the“Healthy China”mission has pledged to increase the national mean life expectancy by one year during the same ***,to what extent will the“Beautiful China”mission contribute to the“Healthy China”vision by reducing the levels of the detrimental PM_(2.5) is still ***,by coupling the life table approach and an epidemiological concentration-response model,this study quantifies the potential benefits of achieving China's 2025 air quality target on the national life *** analysis reveals that the Chinese citizen could expect to extend the average life expectancy by 42.5 days by 2025 due to improved air *** addition,if the Chinese government outperforms the planned air quality target,as it usually does,the gains would increase to 65.4 days,~18% of the“Healthy China”life expectancy increment *** reductions in PM_(2.5) concentration would lead to accelerated gains in life expectancy both nationally and at the city level,providing strong incentives for the authorities to keep improving air *** study reveals the notable benefits on individual life that could be expected from air quality improvement in China and suggests that longer life expectancy is achievable by implementing a health-prioritized air quality management mechanism.

背景小脑蚓部与情感调节、认知功能密切相关。小脑蚓部的重复经颅磁刺激(rTMS)能否改善老年慢性精神分裂症(CSZ)患者的临床症状,既往少有报道。目的观察小脑蚓部θ短阵快速脉冲刺激(TBS)模式的rTMS对老年CSZ患者阴性症状、认知功能和血清炎症因子水平的影响。方法本研究为单盲随机对照试验。选取2022年10月—2023年8月沈阳市精神卫生中心收治的50例稳定期老年CSZ患者为对象。采用随机数字表法将CSZ患者分为观察组和对照组,各25例。观察组采用TBS模式的rTMS治疗,刺激部位为小脑蚓部,每周治疗5 d,1次/d,连续治疗4周。对照组进行伪刺激,治疗时间和参数同观察组。采用阳性与阴性症状量表(PANSS)评估总体精神病性症状,阴性症状量表(SANS)评估阴性症状,用MATRICS公认认知成套测验(MCCB)评估认知功能。检测血清白介素1β(IL-1β)、白介素6(IL-6)、肿瘤坏死因子α(TNF-α)水平。结果与对照组比较,观察组治疗后PANSS量表阴性症状评分[(17.11±2.00)分与(19.21±2.76)分]、一般精神病理症状评分[(26.34±2.07)分与(29.33±4.27)分]和总分[(53.10±3.61)分与(58.99±5.53)分]及SANS评分[(54.00±3.78)分与(57.83±4.15)分]均较低(P<0.05)。与对照组比较,观察组治疗后信息处理加工速度评分[(39.78±2.45)分与(37.24±1.10)分]、注意警觉性评分[(47.07±4.27)分与(40.01±2.17)分]、工作记忆评分[(45.12±3.20)分与(41.89±4.11)分]和社会认知评分[(46.40±4.29)分与(41.42±7.45)分]均较高(P<0.05)。与对照组比较,观察组治疗后IL-1β水平[(41.09±7.34)μg/L与(47.03±12.45)μg/L]、IL-6水平[(41.28±7.32)μg/L与(47.03±9.45)μg/L]、TNF-α水平[(53.28±14.15)μg/L与(61.35±12.79)μg/L]较低(P<0.05)。rTMS治疗过程中,观察组仅4例在首次治疗时出现头晕、头痛症状,随着治疗时间延长均逐渐耐受。其余患者均无不适主诉。结论小脑蚓部TBS模式的rTMS可以改善老年CSZ患者的阴性症状、认知功能和血清炎症因子水平。

Over the past 2000 years,a high-resolution pollen record from the Yushenkule Peat(46°45′-46°57′N,90°46′-90°61′E,2374 m a.s.l.)in the south-eastern Altai Mountains of northwestern China has been used to explore the changes in vegetation and *** regional vegetation has been dominated by alpine meadows revealed from pollen diagrams over the past 2000 *** pollen-based climate was warm and wet during the Roman Warm Period(0-520 AD),cold and wet during the Dark Age Cold Period(520-900 AD),warm and wet during the Medieval Warm Period(900-1300 AD),and cold and dry during the Little Ice Age(1300-1850 AD).Combined with other pollen data from the Altai Mountains,we found that the percentage of arboreal pollen showed a reduced trend along the NW-SE gradient with decreasing moisture and increasing climatic continentality of the Altai Mountains over the past 2000 years;this is consistent with modern distributions of taiga *** also found that the taiga(Pinus forest)have spread slightly,while the steppe(Artemisia,Poaceae and Chenopodiaceae)have recovered significantly in the Altai Mountains over the past 2000 *** addition,the relatively warm-wet climate may promote high grassland productivity and southward expansion of steppe,which favors the formation of Mongol political and military power.
