High-efficiency CO_(2) sequestration through direct aqueous carbonation of carbide slag: determination of carbonation reaction and optimization of operation parameters

Under the dual-carbon target, CO_(2) mineralization through solid wastes presents a mutually beneficial approach for permanent carbon emission reduction at a low material cost, while also enabling the resource utilization of these wastes. However, despite its potential, a comprehensive understanding about the effect of industrial solid waste properties and operating parameters on the carbonation process, and the mechanism of direct aqueous carbonation is still lacking. A series of experiments were conducted to compare the carbonation performance of fly ash, steel slag, and carbide slag. Subsequently, CO_(2) mineralization by carbide slag was systematically studied under various operating parameters due to its high CO_(2) sequestration capacity. Results showed the reactivity of CaO and Ca(OH)2 was higher than that of CaO·SiO_(2) and 2CaO·SiO_(2). Carbide slag demonstrated a sequestration capacity of 610.8 g CO_(2)/kg and carbonation efficiency ζCa of 62.04% under the conditions of 65 ℃, 1.5 MPa initial CO_(2) pressure, 15 mL/g liquid-to-solid ratio, and 200 r/min stirring speed. Moreover, the formation of carbonates was confirmed through XRD, SEM-EDS, TG, and FTIR. A mechanism analysis revealed that initially, the rate of the carbonation process was primarily controlled by the mass transfer of CO_(2) in the gas–liquid interface. However, the rate-determining step gradually shifted to the mass transfer of Ca2+ in the solid–liquid interface as the reaction time increased. This study lays the foundation for the large-scale implementation of CO_(2) sequestration through carbide slag carbonation.

Numerical simulation of gas–liquid flow in the bubble column using Wray–Agarwal turbulence model coupled with population balance model

In this paper,an improved computational fluid dynamic(CFD)model for gas-liquid flow in bubble column was developed using the one-equation Wary-Agarwal(WA)turbulence model coupled with the population balance model(PBM).Through 18 orthogonal test cases,the optimal combination of interfacial force models,including drag force,lift force,turbulent dispersion force.The modified wall lubrication force model was proposed to improve the predictive ability for hydrodynamic behavior near the wall of the bubble column.The values simulated by optimized CFD model were in agreement with experimental data,and the errors were within±20%.In addition,the axial velocity,turbulent kinetic energy,bubble size distribution,and the dynamic characteristic of bubble plume were analyzed at different superficial gas velocities.This research work could provide a theoretical basis for the extension of the CFD-PBM coupled model to other multiphase reactors..

Objective: Anemoside B4(AB4), the most abundant triterpenoidal saponin isolated from Pulsatilla chinensis, inhibited influenza virus FM1 or Klebsiella pneumoniae-induced pneumonia. However, the anti-SARS-CoV-2 effect of AB4 has not been unraveled. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the antiviral activity and potential mechanism of AB4 in inhibiting human coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in vivo and in vitro.Methods: The cytotoxicity of AB4 was evaluated using the Cell Counting Kit-8(CCK8) assay. SARS-CoV-2 infected HEK293T, HPAEpiC, and Vero E6 cells were used for in vitro assays. The antiviral effect of AB4 in vivo was evaluated by SARS-CoV-2-infected hACE2-IRES-luc transgenic mouse model. Furthermore,label-free quantitative proteomics and bioinformatic analysis were performed to explore the potential antiviral mechanism of action of AB4. Type Ⅰ IFN signaling-associated proteins were assessed using Western blotting or immumohistochemical staining.Results: The data showed that AB4 reduced the propagation of SARS-CoV-2 along with the decreased Nucleocapsid protein(N), Spike protein(S), and 3C-like protease(3CLpro) in HEK293T cells. In vivo antiviral activity data revealed that AB4 inhibited viral replication and relieved pneumonia in a SARS-CoV-2 infected mouse model. We further disclosed that the antiviral activity of AB4 was associated with the enhanced interferon(IFN)-β response via the activation of retinoic acid-inducible gene Ⅰ(RIG-1) like receptor(RLP) pathways. Additionally, label-free quantitative proteomic analyses discovered that 17 proteins were significantly altered by AB4 in the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections cells. These proteins mainly clustered in RNA metabolism.Conclusion: Our results indicated that AB4 inhibited SARS-CoV-2 replication through the RLR pathways and moderated the RNA metabolism, suggesting that it would be a potential lead compound for the development of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs.

Damage Mechanism of Ultra-thin Asphalt Overlay(UTAO) based on Discrete Element Method

Aiming to analyze the damage mechanism of UTAO from the perspective of meso-mechanical mechanism using discrete element method(DEM),we conducted study of diseases problems of UTAO in several provinces in China,and found that aggregate spalling was one of the main disease types of UTAO.A discrete element model of UTAO pavement structure was constructed to explore the meso-mechanical mechanism of UTAO damage under the influence of layer thickness,gradation,and bonding modulus.The experimental results show that,as the thickness of UTAO decreasing,the maximum value and the mean value of the contact force between all aggregate particles gradually increase,which leads to aggregates more prone to spalling.Compared with OGFC-5 UTAO,AC-5 UTAO presents smaller maximum and average values of all contact forces,and the loading pressure in AC-5 UTAO is fully diffused in the lateral direction.In addition,the increment of pavement modulus strengthens the overall force of aggregate particles inside UTAO,resulting in aggregate particles peeling off more easily.The increase of bonding modulus changes the position where the maximum value of the tangential force appears,whereas has no effect on the normal force.

Multifunctional interfacial molecular bridge enabled by an aggregation-induced emission strategy for enhancing efficiency and UV stability of perovskite solar cells

The interface defects between the electron transport layer（ETL） and the perovskite layer,as well as the low ultraviolet（UV） light utilization rate of the perovskite absorption layer,pose significant challenges for the commercialization of perovskite solar cells（PSCs）.To address this issue,this paper proposes an innovative multifunctional interface modulation strategy by introducing aggregation-induced emission（AIE） molecule 5-[4-[1,2,2-tri[4-（3,5-dicarboxyphenyl）phenyl]ethylene] phenyl]benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid（H8ETTB） at the SnO2ETL/perovskite interface.Firstly,the interaction of H8ETTB with the SnO2surface,facilitated by its carboxyl groups,is effective in passivating surface defects caused by noncoord inated Sn and O vacancies.This interaction enhances the conductivity of the SnO2film and adjusts energy levels,leading to enhanced charge carrier transport.Simultaneously,H8ETTB can passivate noncoord inated Pb2+ions at the perovskite interface,promoting perovskite crystallization and reducing the interface energy barrier,resulting in a perovskite film with low defects and high crystalline quality.More importantly,the H8ETTB molecule,can convert UV light into light absorbable by the perovskite,thereby reducing damage caused by UV light and improving the device's utilization of UV.Consequently,the champion PSC based on SnO2-H8ETTB achieves an impressing efficiency of 23.32%and significantly improved photostability compared with the control device after continuous exposure to intense UV radiation.In addition,the Cs0.05(FA0.95MA0.05)0.95Pb(I0.95Br0.05)3based device can achieve maximum efficiency of 24.01%,demonstrating the effectiveness and universality of this strategy.Overall,this innovative interface bridging strategy effectively tackles interface defects and low UV light utilization in PSCs,presenting a promising approach for achieving highly efficient and stable PSCs.

Real-time detection of methane concentration based on TDLAS technology and 1D-WACNN

In order to further reduce the cost of manually screening suitable second harmonic signals for curve fitting when detecting methane concentration by tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology， as well as the influence of certain human factors on the amplitude screening of second harmonic signals， and improve the detection accuracy， a one-dimensional wide atrous convolution (1D-WACNN) method for methane concentration detection is proposed， a real-time detection system based on TDLAS technology to acquire signal and Jetson Nano to process signal is built. The results show that the accuracy of this method is 99.96%. Compared with other methods， this method has high accuracy and is suitable for real-time detection of methane concentration.

Purpose To derive the temperature response of the basic unit of the electromagnetic calorimeter of the high energy cosmic-radiation detection(HERD)facility.Method Tested a method to measure HERD calorimeter cell(HCC)light yield using an ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diode with a wavelength of 300 nm,and established an experimental setup and tested the light yield of the HCC at different temperatures in a thermal chamber.Results and conclusions The result showed that the signal amplitudes variation of the HCC reached up to 10.2% with temperature ranging from 0 to 60℃,if we narrow the temperature range to 0-35℃,the variation was about 3.7% and it showed much better linearity.This result provides a good instruction on the thermal control of the HERD calorimeter(CALO)to improve its performance.

Investigation of β-Ga_(2)O_(3) thick films grown on c-plane sapphire via carbothermal reduction

We investigated the influence of the growth temperature, O_(2) flow, molar ratio between Ga_(2)O_(3) powder and graphite powder on the structure and morphology of the films grown on the c-plane sapphire(0001) substrates by a carbothermal reduction method. Experimental results for the heteroepitaxial growth of β-Ga_(2)O_(3) illustrate that β-Ga_(2)O_(3) growth by the carbothermal reduction method can be controlled. The optimal result was obtained at a growth temperature of 1050 °C. The fastest growth rate of β-Ga_(2)O_(3) films was produced when the O_(2) flow was 20 sccm. To guarantee that β-Ga_(2)O_(3) films with both high-quality crystal and morphology properties, the ideal molar ratio between graphite powder and Ga_(2)O_(3) powder should be set at 10 : 1.
