Efficient and stable photocathodes with versatility are of significance in photoassisted lithium-ion batteries(PLIBs),while there is always a request on fast carrier transport in electrochemical active *** work proposes a general approach of creating bulk heterojunction to boost the carrier mobility of photocathodes by simply laser assisted embedding of plasmonic *** employed in PLIBs,it was found effective for synchronously enhanced photocharge separation and transport in light charging ***,experimental photon spectroscopy,finite difference time domain method simulation and theoretical analyses demonstrate that the improved carrier dynamics are driven by the plasmonic-induced hot electron injection from metal to TiO_(2),as well as the enhanced conductivity in TiO2 matrix due to the formation of oxygen vacancies after Schottky *** from these merits,several benchmark values in performance of TiO2-based photocathode applied in PLIBs are set,including the capacity of 276 mAh g^(−1)at 0.2 A g^(−1)under illumination,photoconversion efficiency of 1.276%at 3 A g^(−1),less capacity and Columbic efficiency loss even through 200 *** results exemplify the potential of the bulk heterojunction strategy in developing highly efficient and stable photoassisted energy storage systems.

The stochastic sliding mode variable structure guidance laws based on optimal control theory

A stochastic sliding-mode variable structure guidance law involving optimal control theory is presented for the missile target intercept model, in which state noise, uncertain system parameters, target movement and measured noise are considered. This guidance law synthesizes the merits of optimal guidance law with line-of-sight rate convergence and sliding-mode guidance law with strong robustness. Through theoretic analysis, it is proved that the sliding mode hyperplane is sub-achievable in the closed loop system. The numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

Radar cross section of arbitrary polished spheres at terahertz frequencies

We develop an efficient method for polished metallic sphere’s scattering prediction in terahertz band when its frequency dispersion property is considered. By deducing scattering solution of the lossy metallic sphere, the radar cross section(RCS)of different metallic spheres is given at terahertz frequencies. The investigation of the RCS of polished metallic spheres shows the normalized RCS is always same to the metals’ normal incidence reflectivity when the sphere becomes electrically large. The metals which have high reflectivity(such as Al, Cu, Ag and Au) show that the corresponding RCS of the spheres is almost πa2 in terahertz band. The sphere’s RCS of the transition metal such as Fe begins to decrease obviously since the far infrared.

Angular extent effect of micromotion target in SAR image by polar format algorithm

Target micromotion not only plays an important role in target recognition but also leads to esoteric characteristics in synthetic aperture radar （SAR） imaging. This paper finds out an interesting phenomenon, i.e. the angular extent effect, in micro-motion target images formulated by the polar format algorithm. A micromotion target takes on multiple pairs of paired echoes （PEs） around the true point, and each PE extends for an angle which is exactly equal to the angular extent of the synthetic aperture, regardless of the micromotion frequency. The effect is derived and interpreted by using the characteristics of Bessel functions. Then it is demonstrated by simulation experiments of a target with different micromotion frequencies. The revelation and interpretation of the effect is highly beneficial to micromotion-target SAR image understanding as wel as target recognition.

Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)with poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)have become fairly prevalent for fabricating high-performance solid-state lithium metal batteries due to their high Li~+solvating capability,flexible processability and low ***,unsatisfactory room-temperature ionic conductivity,weak interfacial compatibility and uncontrollable Li dendrite growth seriously hinder their *** efforts have been devoted to combining PEO with ceramics either as fillers or major matrix with the rational design of two-phase architecture,spatial distribution and content,which is anticipated to hold the key to increasing ionic conductivity and resolving interfacial compatibility within CSEs and between CSEs/***,a comprehensive review exclusively discussing the design,preparation and application of PEO/ceramic-based CSEs is largely lacking,in spite of tremendous reviews dealing with a broad spectrum of polymers and ***,this review targets recent advances in PEO/ceramicbased CSEs,starting with a brief introduction,followed by their ionic conduction mechanism,preparation methods,and then an emphasis on resolving ionic conductivity and interfacial ***,their applications in solid-state lithium metal batteries with transition metal oxides and sulfur cathodes are ***,a summary and outlook on existing challenges and future research directions are proposed.

Photo-Isomerization Energy Storage Using Azobenzene and Nanoscale Templates: A Topical Review

Azobenzene(AZO) has attached tremendous attention in the field of photo-isomerization energy storage due to its advantages of absorbing light in ultraviolet-visible range and reversible isomerization. However, the issues of low energy density and short half-lifetime restrict the further development of AZO. Therefore, a method, by preparing hybrid photo-isomerization energy storage materials using nanoscale templates, was proposed to handle the above two issues. In this paper, a summary of hybrid photo-isomerization energy storage materials with AZO and nanoscale templates is conducted from the aspects of templates, preparation methods, derivatives and applications. The performances of template candidates, i.e. carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and graphene(GO) are reviewed and compared based on the analysis of grafting density, energy density, and half-lifetime of hybrid materials. Then, two major preparation methods of AZO hybrid materials including non-covalent and covalent functionalizations are discussed. Furthermore, the studies on AZO derivatives functionalized on nanoscale templates are summarized to further point to the direction of derivatization towards high performance AZO-functionalized materials. Finally, due to the superiority of AZO hybrid solid-state films in large-scale utilization, their current applications are reviewed to find out some promising applications.

Mineral magnetic properties of surface sediments at Bei’anhe, Beijing, and its environmental significance

A multiparameter investigation of surface sediments from the Bei’anhe section (Beijing) has been con- ducted using environmental magnetic approaches. The studied sedimentary sequence consists of pluvial and lacustrine silts and clay of the Holocene age. Magnetite, hematite and pyrrhotite were iden- tified as the dominant magnetic minerals. The mineral magnetic characteristics are considered to re- flect the Holocene paleoenvironmental processes of the studied area, which are different from the mineral magnetic properties of typical polluted sections reported in the Beijing area. The low-field magnetic susceptibility and saturated isothermal remanence magnetization of the section decrease gradually with increasing depth. This indicates that the concentration of magnetic minerals in the strata decreases down the section. Values of interparametric ratios, such as ARM/SIRM, χARM/χ and SIRM/χ, gradually increase with increasing depth, which indicates a down-section decreasing trend in the magnetic grain size of the sediments. Pyrrhotite occurs below the depth of 22 cm, suggesting the ex- istence of redox interface. The magnetic variations of the Bei’anhe surface sediments might be con- trolled by two geological processes: reductive diagenesis and pedogenesis. Our findings may have provided a reference point for magnetic investigation of polluted surface sediments in the Beijing area.

Transport of black carbon aerosols from non-local sources:A case study in Shanghai

Black carbon （BC） aerosol mass carried by winds of varying directions from non-local sources was esti- mated based on hourly measured data of BC mass concentration （CBc） and meteorological parameters from January 2008 to December 2012 in Shanghai, and the relationship between annual average CBc and wind speed was analyzed. The results show that the annual average CBC decreased with wind speed for speeds exceeding 0.3 m/s. The relationship between the two was determined by a linear fit with corre- lation coefficient 0,88. Assuming BC aerosol mass of non-local sources transported by a southeast wind was zero, annual average BC concentrations （μg/m3） carried by winds of variable direction were 1.99 （southwest）, 1.95 （west）, 1.15 （northwest）, 0.54 （south）, 0.39 （north）, 0.01 （northeast）, and 0.01 （east）. BC aerosol mass of non-local sources transported by wind to Shanghai was about 6404.05 t per year, among which the total contribution of southwest, west, and northwest winds was nearly 84~;. The aerosol mass transported to Shanghai in winter accounted for 35% that of the entire year, and was greater than that of the other seasons.

Hierarchically porous, ultrathin N–doped carbon nanosheets embedded with highly dispersed cobalt nanoparticles as efficient sulfur host for stable lithium–sulfur batteries

The sluggish redox kinetics and shuttle effect of soluble polysulfides intermediate primarily restrict the electrochemical performance of lithium–sulfur(Li–S) batteries. To address this issue, rational design of high–efficiency sulfur host is increasingly demanded to accelerate the polysulfides conversion during charge/discharge process. Herein, we propose a macro–mesoporous sulfur host(Co@NC), which comprises highly dispersed cobalt nanoparticles embedding in N–doped ultrathin carbon nanosheets. Co@NC is simply synthesized via a carbon nitride–derived pyrolysis approach. Owing to the highly conductive graphene–like matrix and well defined porous structure, the designed multifunctional Co@NC host enables rapid electron/ion transport, electrolyte penetration and effective sulfur trapping. More significantly,N heteroatoms and homogeneous Co nanocatalysts in the graphitic carbon nanosheets could serve as chemisorption sites as well as electrocatalytic centers for sulfur species. These Co–N active sites can synergistically facilitate the redox conversion kinetics and mitigate the shuttling of polysulfides, thus leading to improved electrochemical cycling performance of Li–S batteries. As a consequence, the S/Co@NC cathode demonstrates high initial specific capacity(1505 mA h g-1 at 0.1 C) and excellent cycling stability at 1 C over 300 cycles, giving rise to a capacity retention of 91.7% and an average capacity decline of 0.03%cycle-1.
