Objective:To study constituents of the leaves of Macaranga hemsleyana,and evaluate their inhibitory effects against NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3(NLRP3) inflammasome activation,and antiproliferative activity.Methods:The constituents were isolated and purified by column chromatography on MCI gel CHP20P/P120,silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,and HPLC.The structures of compounds were determined by 1D,2D NMR,and HR-ESI-MS data.The inhibitory effect of compounds on inflammasome activation was determined by lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) procedure.The antiproliferative activity was evaluated using MTT assay.Results:The study led to the isolation of 23 compounds,including one new compound,identified as(2Z)-3-[4-(β-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-2'-hydroxy-5'-methoxyphenyl]-2-propenoic acid(1),together with 22known compounds recognized as 1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-pyridinecarbonitrile(2),methyl 4-methoxynicotinate(3),4-methoxynicotinonitrile(4),1-(3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-4,5-dihydroxyphenyl)-ethanone(5),neoisoastilbin(6),isoastilbin(7),aromadendrin(8),neoastilbin(9),astilbin(10),quercitrin(11),neoschaftoside(12),apigenin 6,8-bis-C-α-L-arabinoside(13),vitexin(14),bergenin(15),scopoletin(16),glucopyranoside salicyl(17),koaburside(18),benzyl β-D-glucoside(19),icariside B5(20),roseoside(21),loliolide(22),and adenosine(23).The tested compounds did not show LDH inhibition nor antiproliferative activity.Conclusion:Compound 1 was a new glycoside.Compounds 2 and 3 were obtained for the first time from natural source.The 22 known compounds constituted of alkaloids(2-4,23),phenolics(5,15,17,18),flavonoids(6-14),coumarin(16),benzyl glycoside(19),and norsesquiterpenes(20-22).All the compounds,1-23,were revealed from M.hemsleyana for the first time.This is the initial uncovering of molecules 1-10,12,13,17-19,and 23 from the genus Macaranga,The isolated compounds,11,14-16,and 20-22established taxonomic classification of M.hemsleyana in Euphorbiaceae family.Flavonoids were outstanding as chemosystematic markers of Macaranga genus.

Effect of Hyperconjugation on Photovoltaic Performance in Pseduo-2D Perylene Diimide Derivatives

Theπ-πinteraction is acknowledged as the predominant factor to determine the molecular packing in organic photovoltaic materials,while other non-covalent intermolecular interactions especially theσ-πhyperconjugation are often ignored.Herein,a perylene diimide(PDI)derivative named FIDT-PDI is designed and synthesized to shed light into the effect of hyperconjugation on the molecular packing and further the photovoltaic performance.Dynamic NMR and 2D NOE NMR demonstrate the formation of intermolecularσ-πhyperconjugation between the C—H bond of the PDI moiety in one molecule and the phenyl sidechain in another molecule of FIDT-PDI.Benefiting from theσ-πhyperconjugation,FIDT-PDI with twisted backbone reversely exhibits more ordered packing and stronger crystallinity compared with another PDI derivative FIDTT-PDI which has better planarity,consequently achieving superior PCE and higher carrier mobility.This contribution is the first paradigm to unravel the structure-property relationship betweenσ-πhyper-conjugation of conjugated materials and corresponding photovoltaic performance.

The increasing awareness of environmental concerns has prompted a surge in the exploration of leadfree,high-power ceramic capacitors.Ongoing efforts to develop leadfree dielectric ceramics with exceptional energystorage performance(ESP)have predominantly relied on multicomponent composite strategies,often accomplished under ultrahigh electric fields.However,this approach poses challenges in insulation and system downsizing due to the necessary working voltage under such conditions.Despite extensive study,bulk ceramics of(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)(BNT),a prominent lead-free dielectric ceramic family,have seldom achieved a recoverable energy-storage(ES)density(Wrec)exceeding 7 J cm^(−3).This study introduces a novel approach to attain ceramic capacitors with high ESP under moderate electric fields by regulating permittivity based on a linear dielectric model,enhancing insulation quality,and engineering domain structures through chemical formula optimization.The incorporation of SrTiO_(3)(ST)into the BNT matrix is revealed to reduce the dielectric constant,while the addition of Bi(Mg_(2/3)Nb_(1/3))O_(3)(BMN)aids in maintaining polarization.Additionally,the study elucidates the methodology to achieve high ESP at moderate electric fields ranging from 300 to 500 kV cm^(−1).In our optimized composition,0.5(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.4)K_(0.1))TiO_(3)–0.5(2/3ST-1/3BMN)(B-0.5SB)ceramics,we achieved a Wrec of 7.19 J cm^(−3) with an efficiency of 93.8%at 460 kV cm^(−1).Impressively,the B-0.5SB ceramics exhibit remarkable thermal stability between 30 and 140℃ under 365 kV cm^(−1),maintaining a Wrec exceeding 5 J cm^(−3).This study not only establishes the B-0.5SB ceramics as promising candidates for ES materials but also demonstrates the feasibility of optimizing ESP by modifying the dielectric constant under specific electric field conditions.Simultaneously,it provides valuable insights for the future design of ceramic capacitors with high ESP under constraints of limited electric field.

Evolution of molecular structure of TATB under shock loading from transient Raman spectroscopic technique

By combination of the transient Raman spectroscopic measurement and the density functional theoretical calculations,the structural evolution and stability of TATB under shock compression was investigated.Due to the improvement in synchronization control between two-stage light gas gun and the transient Raman spectra acquisition,as well as the sample preparation,the Raman peak of the N-O mode of TATB was firstly observed under shock pressure up to 13.6 GPa,noticeably higher than the upper limit of 8.5 GPa reported in available literatures.By taking into account of the continuous shift of the main peak and other observed Raman peaks,we did not distinguish any structural transition or any new species.Moreover,both the present Raman spectra and the time-resolved radiation of TATB during shock loading showed that TATB exhibits higher chemical stability than previous declaration.To reveal the detailed structural response and evolution of TATB under compression,the density functional theoretical calculations were conducted,and it was found that the pressure make N-O bond lengths shorter,nitro bond angles larger,and intermolecular and intra-molecular hydrogen bond interactions enhanced.The observed red shift of Raman peak was ascribed to the abnormal enhancement of H-bound effect on the scissor vibration mode of the nitro group.

Hyperuricemia(HUA)is a vital risk factor for chronic kidney diseases(CKD)and development of functional foods capable of protecting CKD is of importance.This paper aimed to explore the amelioration effects and mechanism of Andrias davidianus bone peptides(ADBP)on HUA-induced kidney damage.In the present study,we generated the standard ADBP which contained high hydrophobic amino acid and low molecular peptide contents.In vitro results found that ADBP protected uric acid(UA)-induced HK-2 cells from damage by modulating urate transporters and antioxidant defense.In vivo results indicated that ADBP effectively ameliorated renal injury in HUA-induced CKD mice,evidenced by a remarkable decrease in serum UA,creatinine and blood urea nitrogen,improving kidney UA excretion,antioxidant defense and histological kidney deterioration.Metabolomic analysis highlighted 14 metabolites that could be selected as potential biomarkers and attributed to the amelioration effects of ADBP on CKD mice kidney dysfunction.Intriguingly,ADBP restored the gut microbiome homeostasis in CKD mice,especially with respect to the elevated helpful microbial abundance,and the decreased harmful bacterial abundance.This study demonstrated that ADBP displayed great nephroprotective effects,and has great promise as a food or functional food ingredient for the prevention and treatment of HUA-induced CKD.

To the Editor:Tricuspid regurgitation(TR)associated with valve disease is a general medical issue with growing prevalence and socioeconomic burden.TR,especially moderate or severe TR,has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of heart failure and mortality.^([1])Studies have shown that blood calcium levels and blood phosphorus levels have a great influence on the human body,especially on the cardiovascular system.Elevated serum calcium levels were reported to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.^([2])A meta-analysis reported that moderate dietary calcium intake protects against cardiovascular and all-cause mortality and that calcium supplementation reduces mortality in women.^([3])

In this paper,a novel ternary eutectic salt Na_(2)CO_(3)-li_(2)CO_(3)-liF was designed and investigated for concentrated solar power(CSP).The FactSage software was used to predict the composition and eutectic point of Na_(2)CO_(3)-li_(2)CO_(3)-liF.The microstructure,thermophysical properties,and thermal stability of eutectic salts were experimentally measured using various analytical methods.With a mass ratio of 57%:32%:11%,the eutectic salt exhibited excellent thermal storage properties with a fusion enthalpy of 413 J/g and a melting point of 426.8℃.The excellent thermal stability of the eutectic salt was reflected by a weight loss of only 0.8% at 600℃.

Manganese cobaltite(MnCo_(2)_(4))is a promising electrode material because of its attractive redox chemistry and excellent charge storage capability.Our previous work demonstrated that the octahedrally-coordinated Mn are prone to react with the hydroxyl ions in alkaline electrolyte upon electrochemical cycling and separates on the surface of spinel to reconstruct into d-MnO_(2) nanosheets irreversibly,thus results in a change of the reaction mechanism with Kþion intercalation.However,the low capacity has greatly limited its practical application.Herein,we found that the tetrahedrally-coordinated Co_(2) þions were leached when MnCo_(2)_(4) was equilibrated in 1 mol L^(-1) HCl solution,leading to the formation of layered CoOOH on MnCo_(2)_(4) surface which is originated from the covalency competition induced selective breakage of the CoT–O bond in CoT–O–CoO and subsequent rearrangement of free Co_(6) octahedra.The as-formed CoOOH is stable upon cycling in alkaline electrolyte,exhibits conversion reaction mechanism with facile proton diffusion and is free of massive structural evolution,thus enables utilization of the bulk electrode material and realizes enhanced speciﬁc capacity as well as facilitated charge transfer and ion diffusion.In general,our work not only offers a feasible approach to deliberate modiﬁcation of MnCo_(2)_(4)'s surface structure,but also provides an in-depth understanding of its charge storage mechanism,which enables rational design of the spinel oxides with promising charge storage properties.

Genome-wide identification of apple auxin receptor family genes and functional characterization of MdAFB1

The auxin receptor(TIR1/AFBs)family encodes the F-box protein subunit,which is involved in the formation of the E3 ubiquitin ligase SCFTIR1/AFBs complex,a key component of the auxin signaling pathway.However,there are few studies on the auxin receptor family in apple(Malus×domestica).In this study,eight MdAFBs were identified,and phylogenetic analysis showed that they were classified into four groups and distributed on eight chromosomes.Herein,a comprehensive analysis of the MdAFB gene family was conducted to identify cis-acting elements,gene structures,protein structures,aligned sequences,conserved motifs,conserved amino acids,and the protein–protein interaction network.The results of yeast two-hybrid assays showed that MdAFB1 interacted with three auxin repressor proteins.The results of qRT-PCR showed that MdAFB1 responded to osmotic and salt stress.The overexpression of MdAFB1 increased osmotic and salt resistance in apple calli,and the ectopic expression of MdAFB1 enhanced osmotic and salt tolerance in Arabidopsis.This study provided a basis for the identification of auxin receptor genes in apple and their functions in mediating osmotic and salt stress.

Interface engineering in device fabrication is a significant but complicated issue.Although great successes have been achieved by conventional physical in situ or ex situ methods,it still suffers from complicated procedures.In this work,we present a facile method for fabricating phthalocyanine(Pc)-based two-dimensional conductive metal–organic framework(MOF)films.Based on PcM-Cu(M=Ni,Cu,H_(2))MOF films,spin valves with a vertical configuration of La_(0.67)Sr_(0.33)MnO_(3)/PcM-Cu MOFs/Co were constructed successfully,and exhibited notably high negative magnetoresistance(MR)up to -22% at 50 K.The penetrated Co atoms coordinated with the dehydrogenated hydroxy groups in the MOFs resulting in an antiferromagnetic layer of the PcM-Cu-Co hybrid structure.Interestingly,a significant exchange bias effect was demonstrated at the PcM-Cu MOF/Co interface,beneficial for the MR behavior.Thus,our present study provides new insights into developing high-performance organic spin valves via de novo molecular design.
