Dear Editor,The family Totiviridae contains non-enveloped,doublestranded RNA viruses with genomes of approximately 4.6–7 kbp in length.These totiviruses are classified into five genera:Totivirus,Victorivirus,Trichomonasvirus,Giardiavirus,and Leishmaniavirus(Nibert 2007).They are associated with latent infections of fungal or protozoan hosts(Li et al.2020).Recently,a few totiviruses have been identified and shown to have unexpected host distributions,including insects,plants.

1999—2021年,中国地质调查局组织实施的土地质量地球化学调查共获得670321件表层组合土壤样品(0~20 cm)和167746件深层组合土壤样品(150~180 cm),覆盖面积约266.5万km^(2),囊括我国人口集中区和大部分耕地。对相关土壤样品均按统一标准分析了54项化学指标(Ag、As、Au、B、Ba、Be、Bi、Br、Cd、Ce、Cl、Co、Cr、Cu、F、Ga、Ge、Hg、I、La、Li、Mn、Mo、N、Nb、Ni、P、Pb、Rb、S、Sb、Sc、Se、Sn、Sr、Th、Ti、Tl、U、V、W、Y、Zn、Zr、SiO2、Al2O3、TFe2O3、MgO、CaO、Na2O、K2O、pH、全碳和有机碳)。本文利用这些数据讨论了中国土壤54项指标的地球化学背景值、基准值及其上下限的划定方法和基本特征,并对我国耕地土壤背景与现行环境、养分等相关标准中各种阈值进行了对比。结果显示:在全国尺度上,各项指标表层与深层Spearman相关系数均高于0.50,表明表层土壤中大部分指标都继承了深层土壤的含量与分布特征。54项指标中仅Corg、TC、N、S、Se、Hg、Br、Cd和P等指标背景值相对基准值发生了较大变化。我国耕地土壤中,Cd的农用地污染风险筛选值在背景范围内,Hg、As、Pb和Cr的筛选值则高于背景上限值。由于许多指标的空间分布存在着巨大的差异,在全国范围内划定一个统一的背景值并不利于土壤资源的精细化管理和保护,因此有必要在全国尺度地球化学背景与基准的基础上建立区域尺度地球化学背景与基准,为政府部门合理制定相关土壤环境质量的标准和保护法规提供依据。

The bonding mechanism between straw and concrete was analyzed through testing the compressive strength and flexural strength of hollow block, with different straw amount and different dosage and types of admixtures. The test results show that the mechanical properties of hollow blocks reduced after adding straws, and the more straws was added, the more hollow block density decreased. But adding A12（SO4）3 and CaC12 could improve the dense degree between rice straw and concrete. And when the proportion of straw mixing amount was 10%, the flexural strength of the early strength agent （2% A12（SO4）3, CaC12） added hollow block reached as maximal as 3.1 MPa, while the compressive strength was 9.1 MPa, consisting with the strength grade of common concrete hollow block MU7.5.

Multicellular organisms such as plants contain various cell types with specialized functions.Analyzing the characteristics of each cell type reveals specific cell functions and enhances our understanding of organization and function at the organismal level.Guard cells(GCs)are specialized epidermal cells that regulate the movement of the stomata and gaseous exchange,and provide a model genetic system for analyzing cell fate,signaling,and function.Several proteomics analyses of GC are available,but these are limited in depth.Here we used enzymatic isolation and flow cytometry to enrich GC and mesophyll cell protoplasts and perform in-depth proteomics in these two major cell types in Arabidopsis leaves.We identified approximately 3,000 proteins not previously found in the GC proteome and more than600 proteins that may be specific to GC.The depth of our proteomics enabled us to uncover a guard cell-specific kinase cascade whereby Raf15and Snf1-related kinase2.6(SnRK2.6)/OST1(open stomata 1)mediate abscisic acid(ABA)-induced stomatal closure.RAF15 directly phosphorylated SnRK2.6/OST1 at the conserved Ser175 residue in its activation loop and was sufficient to reactivate the inactive form of SnRK2.6/OST1.ABAtriggered SnRK2.6/OST1 activation and stomatal closure was impaired in raf15 mutants.We also showed enrichment of enzymes and flavone metabolism in GC,and consistent,dramatic accumulation of flavone metabolites.Our study answers the long-standing question of how ABA activates SnRK2.6/OST1 in GCs and represents a resource potentially providing further insights into the molecular basis of GC and mesophyll cell development,metabolism,structure,and function.

Rice ratooning,the fast outgrowth of dormant buds on stubble,is an important cropping practice in rice production.However,the low ratooning ability(RA)of most rice varieties restricts the application of this cost-efficient system,and the genetic basis of RA remains unknown.In this study,we dissected the genetic architecture of RA by a genome-wide association study in a natural rice population.Rice ratooning ability 3(RRA3),encoding a hitherto not characterized nucleoredoxin involved in reduction of disulfide bonds,was identified as the causal gene of a major locus controlling RA.Overexpression of RRA3 in rice significantly accelerated leaf senescence and reduced RA,whereas knockout of RRA3 significantly delayed leaf senescence and increased RA and ratoon yield.We demonstrated that RRA3 interacts with Oryza sativa histidine kinase 4(OHK4),a cytokinin receptor,and inhibits the dimerization of OHK4 through disulfide bond reduction.This inhibition ultimately led to decreased cytokinin signaling and reduced RA.In addition,variations in the RRA3 promoter were identified to be associated with RA.Introgression of a superior haplotype with weak expression of RRA3 into the elite rice variety Guichao 2 significantly increased RA and ratoon yield by 23.8%.Collectively,this study not only uncovers an undocumented regulatory mechanism of cytokinin signaling through de-dimerization of a histidine kinase receptor-but also provides an eximious gene with promising value for ratoon rice breeding.

A Low-Cost High-Performance Data Augmentation for Deep Learning-Based Skin Lesion Classification

Objective and Impact Statement.There is a need to develop high-performance and low-cost data augmentation strategies for intelligent skin cancer screening devices that can be deployed in rural or underdeveloped communities.The proposed strategy can not only improve the classification performance of skin lesions but also highlight the potential regions of interest for clinicians’attention.This strategy can also be implemented in a broad range of clinical disciplines for early screening and automatic diagnosis of many other diseases in low resource settings.Methods.We propose a high-performance data augmentation strategy of search space 101,which can be combined with any model through a plug-and-play mode and search for the best argumentation method for a medical database with low resource cost.Results.With EfficientNets as a baseline,the best BACC of HAM10000 is 0.853,outperforming the other published models of“single-model and no-external-database”for ISIC 2018 Lesion Diagnosis Challenge(Task 3).The best average AUC performance on ISIC 2017 achieves 0.909(±0.015),exceeding most of the ensembling models and those using external datasets.Performance on Derm7pt archives the best BACC of 0.735(±0.018)ahead of all other related studies.Moreover,the model-based heatmaps generated by Grad-CAM++verify the accurate selection of lesion features in model judgment,further proving the scientific rationality of model-based diagnosis.Conclusion.The proposed data augmentation strategy greatly reduces the computational cost for clinically intelligent diagnosis of skin lesions.It may also facilitate further research in low-cost,portable,and AI-based mobile devices for skin cancer screening and therapeutic guidance.

Effect of Different Aromatic Fractions on Colloidal Property of Tahe Atmospheric Residue

Different amounts of FCC slurry oil and HVGO were added to Tahe atmospheric residue respectively.The colloidal stability and asphaltene agglomeration of atmospheric residue and mixed oils were characterized by means of the mass fraction normalized conductivity and the small-angle X-ray scattering technology(SAXS).The results indicated that the stability of Tahe atmospheric residue decreased with an increasing amount of these oil fractions.It was found that the decline of the colloidal stability was attributed to the component polarity difference between oil fractions and the atmospheric residue.Though the aromaticity of FCC slurry oil was higher than that of HVGO,the polarity of aromatics and resins of FCC slurry oil was lower than those of HVGO.So the degree of the colloidal stability was more seriously destroyed by FCC slurry oil.The dispersion of asphaltenes in Tahe atmospheric residue was changed by adding FCC slurry oil and HVGO.The particle size of asphaltenes increased along with the decline of the colloidal stability.

Small proteins specifically refer to proteins consisting of less than 100 amino acids translated from small open reading frames(s ORFs),which were usually missed in previous genome annotation.The significance of small proteins has been revealed in current years,along with the discovery of their diverse functions.However,systematic annotation of small proteins is still insufficient.Sm Prot was specially developed to provide valuable information on small proteins for scientific community.Here we present the update of Sm Prot,which emphasizes reliability of translated s ORFs,genetic variants in translated s ORFs,disease-specific s ORF translation events or sequences,and remarkably increased data volume.More components such as non-ATG translation initiation,function,and new sources are also included.Sm Prot incorporated638,958 unique small proteins curated from 3,165,229 primary records,which were computationally predicted from 419 ribosome profiling(Ribo-seq)datasets or collected from literature and other sources from 370 cell lines or tissues in 8 species(Homo sapiens,Mus musculus,Rattus norvegicus,Drosophila melanogaster,Danio rerio,Saccharomyces cerevisiae,Caenorhabditis elegans,and Escherichia coli).In addition,small protein families identified from human microbiomes were also collected.All datasets in Sm Prot are free to access,and available for browse,search,and bulk downloads at http://***/SmProt/.
