Photo-thermal synergistic excitation:Feasible strategy to detect ethanol for wide bandgap ZIF-8at low work temperature

Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8(ZIF-8)material was prepared by chemical precipitation method.The microstructure and physical properties of the as-prepared samples were characterized by XRD,BET,FESEM and UV spectrophotometer.The self-made four-channel measurement device was used to test the gas sensitivity of ZIF-8 material toward ethanol gas under photo-thermal synergistic excitation.The results showed that the sample was typical ZIF-8(E_(g)=4.96 eV)with a regular dodecahedron shape and the specific surface is up to 1793 m^(2)/g.The as-prepared ZIF-8 has a gas response value of 55.04 to 100 ppm ethanol at 75℃ and it shows good gas sensing selectivity and repeated stability.The excellent gas sensitivity can be attributed to the increase of free electron concentration in the ZIF-8 conduction band by photo-thermal synergistic excitation,and the large specific surface area of ZIF-8 material provides more active sites for gas-solid surface reaction.The reaction mechanism of ZIF-8 material under multi-field excitation was also discussed.

Targeting mitochondria with antioxidant nutrients for the prevention and treatment of postweaning diarrhea in piglets

Post-weaning diarrhea(PWD)in piglets poses a significant challenge and presents a grave threat to the global swine industry,resulting in considerable financial losses and compromising the welfare of animals.PWD is commonly associated with gut homeostatic imbalance,including oxidative stress,excessive inflammation,and microbiota dysbiosis.Antibiotic use has historically been a common initiative to combat PWD,but concerns about the development of antibiotic resistance have led to increased interest in alternative strategies.Mitochondria are key players in maintaining cellular homeostasis,and their dysfunction is intricately linked to the onset and progression of PWD.Accumulating evidence suggests that targeting mitochondrial function using antioxidant nutrients,such as vitamins,minerals and polyphenolic compounds,may represent a promising approach for preventing and treating PWD.Moreover,nutrients based on antioxidant strategies have been shown to improve mitochondrial function,restore intestinal redox balance,and reduce oxidative damage,which is a key driver of PWD.The present review begins with an overview of the potential interplay between mitochondria and gut homeostasis in the pathogenesis of PWD in piglets.Subsequently,alternative strategies to prevent and treat PWD using antioxidant nutrients to target mitochondria are described and discussed.Ultimately,we delve into potential limitations and suggest future research directions in this field for further advancement.Overall,targeting mitochondria using antioxidant nutrients may be a promising approach to combat PWD and provides a potential nutrition intervention strategy for regulating gut homeostasis of weaned piglets.

Alterations in intestinal microbiota composition coincide with impaired intestinal morphology and dysfunctional ileal immune response in growing-finishing pigs under constant chronic heat stress

Background:Previous studies had shown that short-term acute heat stress(HS)affected the host’s metabolism and intestinal microbiota independent of feed intake(FI)reduction,and long-term calorie restriction caused intestinal morphological injuries and gut microbial alterations.However,research on the effects of constant chronic HS on intestinal microbial composition and the roles of FI reduction played in is limited.This study aimed to investigate the effects of 7-day constant chronic HS on the composition of intestinal microbes in growing-finishing pigs,and its relationship with pigs’performance,intestinal morphology,and ileal immune response.Twenty-four growingfinishing pigs(Duroc×Large White×Landrace,30±1 kg body weight)were randomly assigned to three treatments(n=8),1)thermal neutral(TN)conditions(25±1℃)with ad libitum FI,2)HS conditions(35±1℃)with ad libitum FI,3)pair-fed(PF)with HS under TN conditions to discriminate the confounding effects of dissimilar FI,and the FI was the previous day’s average FI of HS.The small intestinal segments(duodenum,jejunum,and ileum)and feces were collected on d 8.Results:Results indicated that HS drastically declined(P<0.05)average daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake(ADFI)(about 61%)in comparison with TN,and caused hyperpyrexia,meanwhile PF caused hypothermia.Morphological observation by light and electron microscopes showed that both HS and PF treatment decreased(P<0.05)the villus and microvillus height compared with TN.Additionally,HS increased(P<0.05)protein expression of heat shock protein 70 in the duodenum,jejunum,and ileum.Furthermore,the expression of tight junction protein zonula occluden-1(ZO-1)in the duodenum and ileum,and Occludin in the ileum were enhanced(P<0.05)compared with TN and PF.Moreover,HS significantly enhanced(P<0.05)the mRNA relative expression of inflammatory cytokines(TLR-2,TLR-4,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),IL-6,IL-8,PG1–5,β-defensin 2(pBD-2)),mucins(mucin-1 and mucin-2)and P65 protein level in the ileal mucosa tissue.Intestinal micro

Replacing dietary sodium selenite with biogenic selenium nanoparticles improves the growth performance and gut health of early-weaned piglets

Selenium nanoparticles(SeNPs)are proposed as a safer and more effective selenium delivery system than sodium selenite(Na_(2)SeO_(3)).Here,we investigated the effects of replacing dietary Na_(2)SeO_(3)with SeNPs synthesized by Lactobacillus casei ATCC 393 on the growth performance and gut health of earlyweaned piglets.Seventy-two piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Large Yorkshire)weaned at 21 d of age were divided into the control group(basal diet containing 0.3 mg Se/kg from Na_(2)SeO_(3))and SeNPs group(basal diet containing 0.3 mg Se/kg from SeNPs)during a 14-d feeding period.The results revealed that SeNPs supplementation increased the average daily gain(P=0.022)and average daily feed intake(P=0.033),reduced(P=0.056)the diarrhea incidence,and improved(P=0.013)the feed conversion ratio compared with Na_(2)SeO_(3).Additionally,SeNPs increased jejunal microvilli height(P=0.006)and alleviated the intestinal barrier dysfunction by upregulating(P<0.05)the expression levels of mucin 2 and tight junction proteins,increasing(P<0.05)Se availability,and maintaining mitochondrial structure and function,thereby improving antioxidant capacity and immunity.Furthermore,metabolomics showed that SeNPs can regulate lipid metabolism and participate in the synthesis,secretion and action of parathyroid hormone,proximal tubule bicarbonate reclamation and tricarboxylic acid cycle.Moreover,SeNPs increased(P<0.05)the abundance of Holdemanella and the levels of acetate and propionate.Correlation analysis suggested that Holdemanella was closely associated with the regulatory effects of SeNPs on early-weaned piglets through participating in lipid metabolism.Overall,replacing dietary Na_(2)SeO_(3)with biogenic SeNPs could be a potential nutritional intervention strategy to prevent earlyweaning syndrome in piglets.

Differences in progress across sustainable development goals(SDGs)are widespread globally;meanwhile,the rising call for prioritizing specific SDGs may exacerbate such gaps.Nevertheless,how these progress differences would influence global sustainable development has been long neglected.Here,we present the first quantitative assessment of SDGs’progress differences globally by adopting the SDGs progress evenness index.Our results highlight that the uneven progress across SDGs has been a hindrance to sustainable development because(1)it is strongly associated with many public health risks(e.g.,air pollution),social inequalities(e.g.,gender inequality,modern slavery,wealth gap),and a reduction in life expectancy;(2)it is also associated with deforestation and habitat loss in terrestrial and marine ecosystems,increasing the challenges related to biodiversity conservation;(3)most countries with low average SDGs performance show lower progress evenness,which further hinders their fulfillment of SDGs;and(4)many countries with high average SDGs performance also showcase stagnation or even retrogression in progress evenness,which is partly ascribed to the antagonism between climate actions and other goals.These findings highlight that while setting SDGs priorities may be more realistic under the constraints of multiple global stressors,caution must be exercised to avoid new problems from intensifying uneven progress across goals.Moreover,our study reveals that the urgent needs regarding SDGs of different regions seem complementary,emphasizing that regional collaborations(e.g.,demand-oriented carbon trading between SDGs poorly performed and well-performed countries)may promote sustainable development achievements at the global scale.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting the programmed cell death-1(PD-1)protein significantly improve survival in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC),but its impact on early-stage ground-glass opacity(GGO)lesions remains unclear.This is a single-arm,phase II trial(NCT04026841)using Simon’s optimal two-stage design,of which 4 doses of sintilimab(200 mg per 3 weeks)were administrated in 36 enrolled multiple primary lung cancer(MPLC)patients with persistent high-risk(Lung-RADS category 4 or had progressed within 6 months)GGOs.The primary endpoint was objective response rate(ORR).T/B/NK-cell subpopulations,TCR-seq,cytokines,exosomal RNA,and multiplexed immunohistochemistry(mIHC)were monitored and compared between responders and non-responders.Finally,two intent-to-treat(ITT)lesions(pure-GGO or GGO-predominant)showed responses(ORR:5.6%,2/36),and no patients had progressive disease(PD).No grade 3-5 TRAEs occurred.The total response rate considering two ITT lesions and three non-intent-to-treat(NITT)lesions(pure-solid or solid-predominant)was 13.9%(5/36).The proportion of CD8^(+)T cells,the ratio of CD8^(+)/CD4^(+),and the TCR clonality value were significantly higher in the peripheral blood of responders before treatment and decreased over time.Correspondingly,the mIHC analysis showed more CD8^(+)T cells infiltrated in responders.Besides,responders’cytokine concentrations of EGF and CTLA-4 increased during treatment.The exosomal expression of fatty acid metabolism and oxidative phosphorylation gene signatures were down-regulated among responders.Collectively,PD-1 inhibitor showed certain activity on high-risk pulmonary GGO lesions without safety concerns.Such effects were associated with specific T-cell re-distribution,EGF/CTLA-4 cytokine compensation,and regulation of metabolism pathways.

推动职教“走出去”是“一带一路”倡议下我国职业教育国际化发展的重要议题之一。基于一般社会系统理论的分析视角,以发起或牵头主体为依据分析当前我国职教“走出去”行动,表现出四种典型模式,即以政府为主导的委托服务模式、以企业为主导的需求驱动模式、以学校为主导的供给拉动模式、以行业为主导的统筹协调模式。立足一般社会系统理论的AGIL模型,四种典型模式面临着对合作国应答性不强、目标指引力不足、行动协同性不高、长效性机制不健全的现实困厄。基于此,应以制度建构为关键,通过提升背景性力量支撑、表达与整合利益诉求、厘清角色分工与定位、形塑共享性价值观念,对我国职教“走出去”典型模式进行合理优化。

临近空间太阳能无人机是介于航空器与航天器之间的特殊飞行器。受太阳能电池的光电转换效率和储能电池能量密度的约束,提升临近空间太阳能无人机气动效率和螺旋桨推进效率是保证该类型无人机平台任务执行能力、具备永久飞行能力的重要技术途径。然而低雷诺数效应给全机增升减阻技术攻关和节能降耗的设计目标带来了严重困难和挑战。针对这一问题,本文从翼型设计、气动布局设计、螺旋桨/机翼气动耦合设计、流动控制技术、螺旋桨增效设计5个方面调研了临近空间太阳能无人机增升减阻技术的研究现状,梳理了现有增升减阻措施的技术路线,分析了不同增升减阻方法的优势与不足,最后针对临近空间太阳能无人机增升减阻技术的发展趋势给出了建议。
