Effects of spironolactone on electrical and structural remodeling of atrium in congestive heart failure dogs

Background Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system has been demonstrated to be associated with both congestive heart failure （CHF） and atrial fibrillation （AF）. This study investigated the effects of spironolactone, a kind of aldosterone antagonist, on atrial electrical remodeling and fibrosis in CHF dogs induced by chronic rapid ventricular pacing. Methods Twenty one dogs were randomly divided into sham-operated group, control group, and spironolactone group. In control group and spironolactone group, dogs were ventricular paced at 220 beats per minute for 6 weeks. Additionally, spironolactone at 15 ***.d1 was given to dogs 1 week before rapid ventricular pacing until pacing stopped. Transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiographic examinations were performed to detect structural and functional changes of the atrium. Swan2 Ganz floating catheters were used to measure hemadynamics variances. Atrial effective refractory period （AERP）, AERP dispersion （AERPd） conduction velocity （CV） were determined. The inducib atrial fibrosis was quantified with Masson staining. intra- and inter-atrium conduction time （CT） and intra-atrium ity and duration of AF were also measured in all groups. Finally, Results AERP did not change significantly after dogs were ventricular paced for 6 weeks. However, AERPd, intra- and inter-atrium CT increased significantly, and CV decreased apparently, which was negatively correlated to the atrial fibrosis （r=-0.74, P〈0.05）. Simultaneously, left atriums were enlarged and cardiac hemadynamics worsened in pacing dogs. Although spironolactone could not affect cardiac hemadynamics effectively, it can obviously improve left atrial ejection fraction （P〈0.05）. Spironolactone treatment did not alter AERP duration, but this medicine dramatically decreased AERPd （P〈0.05）, shortened intra- and inter-atrium conduction time （P〈0.05）, and increased atrium CV. To understand the corrosion performance of additive-manufactured Ni-based in various corrosion media during the actual engineering application environment,the corrosion properties of NiFeCrMo alloys were investigated in 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution,1 mol/L H2SO_(4) solution,and 1 mol/L KOH solution,using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance *** electrochemical measurement results revealed that the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys have higher corrosion resistance in all three solutions,compared with the as-cast *** results of the scanning electron microscope confirmed that the degree of additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys after potentiostatic polarization in all three solutions is less serious.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that the enhancement of the corrosion resistance for the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys is attributed to the modification of the composition of the passive *** manufactured processing promotes the enrichment of the element of Cr or Mo in the passive film and it suppresses the formation of the oxidation of the element of Fe,leading to higher stability of the passive *** reason for the higher corrosion resistance of the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys was related to the enrichment of the element of Cr,as well as the lower content of the elements of Ni and Fe near the grain boundaries,which are beneficial to forming a more compact passive *** combined results are essential for the applications of high-strength Ni-based as structural materials in a corrosion environment.

Aluminum is an attractive alternative fuel,but it burns very inefficiently due to the formation of a dense Al_(2)O_(3)layer which prevents O_(2)from diffusion to the surface of Al *** previous experiments,the combustion of millimeter-sized Al(mAl)particles in the fluidized bed has achieved a substantial increase in the combustion efficiency,but further improvements are still *** this study,the effects of reaction atmosphere on the fluidized combustion of mAl particles were *** experiments with different O_(2)/H_(2)O/CO_(2)concentrations were *** experimental results indicate that the combustion efficiency of mAl particles in fluidized bed increases as the mole fraction of O_(2),H_(2)O or CO_(2)increases,and the highest combustion efficiency can reach 38.7%.After the analysis of the oxide film on the surface of aluminum particles,it was found that it is easier to generate the unstableθ-Al_(2)O_(3)under CO_(2)atmosphere,and it is easier to generate the unstableγ-Al_(2)O_(3)andθ-Al_(2)O_(3)under H_(2)O *** unstable Al_(2)O_(3)film is more likely to be abraded in the fluidized bed,which leads to the effective improvement of the combustion efficiency.

OsbZIP01 Affects Plant Growth and Development by Regulating OsSD1 in Rice

As the‘Green Revolution’gene,SD1(encoding GA20ox2),has been widely applied to improve yield in rice ***,research on its transcriptional regulation is ***,we identified a transcription factor OsbZIP01,which can suppress the expression of SD1 and regulate gibberellin(GA)biosynthesis in *** mutants of OsbZIP01 exhibited increased plant height,while the overexpression lines showed a semi-dwarf phenotype and diminished germination ***,the semi-dwarf phenotype of OE-bZIP01,was caused by the reduced internode length,which was accompanied by a thin stem *** predominant expression of OsbZIP01 was observed in leaves and ***01 protein was localized in the nucleus and showed transcriptional repression *** addition,OsbZIP01 could directly bind to the promoter of the OsSD1 gene,and inhibit its *** semi-dwarf phenotype of OE-bZIP01 could be rescued by exogenous GA_(3).Meanwhile,the bzip01 sd1 double mutant showed a shorter shoot length compared with the wild type,indicating that OsbZIP01 regulated plant growth mainly through the GA biosynthesis ***,OsbZIP01 negatively regulates GA biosynthesis by restraining SD1 transcription,thereby affecting plant growth and development.

Mine gas extraction in China is difficult due to the characteristics such as micro-porosity,low-permeability and high adsorption of coal *** pulsed mechanismof a high-pressure pulsed water jet was studied through theoretical analysis,experimentand field *** results show that high-pressure pulsed water jet has threedynamic ***'s more,the three dynamic effects can be found in low-permeabilitycoal seams.A new pulsed water jet with 200-1 000 Hz oscillation frequency andpeak pressure 2.5 times than average pressure was *** bubble collapsing,sound vibration and instantaneous high pressures over 100 MPa enhanced the cuttingability of the high-pressure *** high-pressure pulsed water jet drilling and slotting,the exposure area of coal bodies was greatly enlarged and pressure of the coal seamsrapidly ***,the permeability of coal seams was improved and gas absorptionrate also *** results show that gas adsorption rate decreasedby 30%-40%and the penetrability coefficient increased 100 *** proves that high-pressurepulsed water is more efficient than other conventional methods.

The formation of multiple oxygen intermediates supporting efficient oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are affinitive with hydroxyl ***,ability of the catalyst to capture hydroxyl and maintain the continuous supply at active sits remains a tremendous ***,an affordable Ni2P/FeP2 heterostructure is presented to form the internal polarization field(IPF),arising hydroxyl spillover(HOSo)during *** by IPF,the oriented HOSo from FeP2 to Ni2P can activate the Ni site with a new hydroxyl transmission channel and build the optimized reaction path of oxygen intermediates for lower adsorption energy,boosting the OER activity(242 mV *** at 100 mA cm-2)for least 100 *** interestingly,for the anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer(AEMWE)with low concentration electrolyte,the advantage of HOSo effect is significantly amplified,delivering 1 A cm^(-2)at a low cell voltage of 1.88 V with excellent stability for over 50 h.

The phase equilibrium and mechanical behaviors of natural gas hydrate-bearing sediment are essential for gas recovery from hydrate *** heating closed systems,the temperature-pressure path of hydrate-bearing sediment deviates from that of pure bulk hydrate,reflecting the porous media effect in phase equilibrium.A generalized phase equilibrium equation was established for hydrate-bearing sediments,which indicates that both capillary and osmotic pressures cause the phase equilibrium curve to shift leftward on the temperature-pressure *** contrast to bulk hydrate,hydrate-bearing sediment always contains a certain amount of unhydrated water,which keeps phase equilibrium with the hydrate within the hydrate stability *** changes in temperature and pressure,a portion of pore hydrate and unhydrated water may transform into each other,affecting the shear strength of hydrate-bearing sediment.A shear strength model is proposed to consider not only hydrate saturation but also the change in temperature and pressure of hydrate-bearing *** model is validated by experimental data with various hydrate saturation,temperature and pressure *** deformation induced by partial dissociation was studied through depressurization tests under constant effective *** reduction in gas pressure within the hydrate stability field indeed caused sediment *** dissociation-induced deformation can be reasonably estimated as the difference in volume between hydrate-bearing and hydrate-free sediments from the compression curves.
