Effect of motivational interviewing on postoperative weight control in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome

Ultra-broadband asymmetric acoustic transmission with single transmitted beam

We report both experimentally and numerically that ultra-broadband asymmetric acoustic transmission is realized by a brass plate and a right triangle reflector immersed in water. This exotic phenomenon arises from the asymmetric excitation of the leaky asymmetric zero-order Lamb mode in the brass plate induced by the incident angle of external bulk waves. The results show that the bandwidth of the asymmetric acoustic transmission could reach 2000 k Hz, and the positive transmitted wave is only a single acoustic beam. The device has the advantages of ultra-broadband, single transmitted beam,and simpler structure, which has great potential applications in ultrasonic devices.

Effects of mindful breathing combined with sleep-inducing exercises in patients with insomnia

BACKGROUND Insomnia is the most common sleep *** disrupts the patient’s life and work,increases the risk of various health issues,and often requires long-term *** financial burden and inconvenience of treatments discourage patients from complying with them,leading to chronic *** To investigate the long-term home-practice effects of mindful breathing combined with a sleep-inducing exercise as adjunctive insomnia *** A quasi-experimental design was used in the present work,in which the patients with insomnia were included and grouped based on hospital admission:40 patients admitted between January and April 2020 were assigned to the control group,and 40 patients admitted between May and August 2020 were assigned to the treatment *** control group received routine pharmacological and physical therapies,while the treatment group received instruction in mindful breathing and a sleep-inducing exercise in addition to the routine *** Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item(GAD-7)scale,and Insomnia Severity Index(ISI)were utilized to assess sleepquality improvement in the patient groups before the intervention and at 1 wk,1 mo,and 3 mo *** The PSQI,GAD-7,and ISI scores before the intervention and at 1 wk postintervention were not significantly different between the ***,compared with the control group,the treatment group exhibited significant improvements in sleep quality,daytime functioning,negative emotions,sleep latency,sleep duration,sleep efficiency,anxiety level,and insomnia severity at 1 and 3 mo postintervention(P<0.05).The results showed that mindful breathing combined with the sleep-inducing exercise significantly improved the long-term effectiveness of insomnia *** 3 mo,the PSQI scores for the treatment vs the control group were as follows:Sleep quality 0.98±0.48 vs 1.60±0.63,sleep latency 1.98±0.53 vs 2.80±0.41,sleep duration 1.53±0.6

BACKGROUND Cancer is a growing threat to human *** to the double torment of cancer and cancer treatment,patients with advanced cancer generally have a low quality of *** present,there is a lack of systematic spiritual care plans for patients with advanced cancer as well as systematic guidance plans on the specific clinical application of spiritual care for advanced cancer *** hypothesized that our care plan would be effective in improving the spiritual and mental health and quality of life of patients with advanced *** To construct a spiritual care plan suitable for Chinese patients with advanced cancer through literature *** From February to December 2018,through purpose sampling,we selected 100 advanced cancer patients from the Oncology Department and Hospice Ward of a tertiary hospital in Liaoning Province who met the study *** were randomly divided into experimental and control groups,with 50 cases in each *** control group received the current routine care,while the experimental group received the advanced cancer spiritual care intervention in addition to routine *** After the intervention,the overall spiritual health score for the experimental group was higher than that of the control group(4.68±1.36 vs 3.63±1.71).The difference between the groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The proportion of anxiety-free patients in the experimental group was 95.45%,which was significantly higher than the 60.98%in the control ***,the proportion of non-depressed patients in the experimental group was 97.73%,which was significantly higher than the 85.37%in the control group(P<0.05).The overall quality of life score for the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(5.36±1.16 vs 4.39±1.36,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Our spiritual care plan for patients with advanced cancer could improve their spiritual health and quality of life and reduce negative mental health sympt

Thermoacoustic-reflected focusing lens based on acoustic Bessel-like beam with phase manipulation

We report the realization of broadband reflected acoustic focusing lenses based on thermoacoustic phased arrays of Bessel-like beams, in which the units of phase manipulation are composed of three rigid insulated boundaries and a thermal insulation film in air with different temperatures. Based on these units, we realize a reflected focusing lens which can focus reflected acoustic energy on a line, and its fractional bandwidth can reach about 0.29. In addition, we discuss the influences of the base angle of Bessel-like beam, the number of basic unit, and the variation of unit temperature on focusing performances in details. Furthermore, the reflected focusing lens for the cylindrical acoustic wave based on the Bessel-like beam is also demonstrated. The proposed focusing lens has the advantages of a broad working bandwidth, large focus size,and high robustness, which may provide possibilities for the design and application of acoustic lenses.

Identifying online traffic based on property of TCP flow

Classification of network traffic using port-based or payload-based analysis is becoming increasingly difficult when many applications use dynamic port numbers, masquerading techniques, and encryption to avoid detection. In this article, an approach is presented for online traffic classification relying on the observation of the first n packets of a transmission control protocol （TCP） connection. Its key idea is to utilize the properties of the observed first ten packets of a TCP connection and Bayesian network method to build a classifier. This classifier can classify TCP flows dynamically as packets pass through it by deciding whether a TCP flow belongs to a given application. The experimental results show that the proposed approach performs well in online Internet traffic classification and that it is superior to naive Bayesian method.

AIM: To investigate the effect of astilbic acid (3β6β-dihydroxyolean-12-en-27-oic acidAA) on human colorectal carcinoma COLO 205 cell proliferation and apoptosis. METHODS: Proliferation of COLO 205 cells was measued by MTT assay. Content of DNA in COLO 205 cell was measued by modified diphenylamine assay. AA-induced morphological changes was observed with fluorescence microscope and transmission electron microscope . DNA fragmentation was visualized by agarose gel electrophoresis. Apoptosis rate and cell cycle distribution were determined by flow cytometric analysis. Expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax proteins were visioned by immunohistochemical analysis. The change of relative mitochondral transmembrane potential (MTP) in COLO 205 cell was analyzed with FCM after rhodamine 123 staining. RESULTS: The IC50 (96 h) of AA for inhibiting COLO 205 cell proliferation was 61.56±0.34 umol/L. Ultra-broadband acoustic ventilation barrier based on multi-cavity resonators

The numerical simulations and experimental results of an ultra-broadband acoustic ventilation barrier composed of periodic unit cells are reported in this *** on multiple mechanisms,including sound absorption by eigenmodes of the unit cell and sound reflection by a plate structure on upper surface of the unit cell,a single-layer ventilation barrier with broadband sound reduction is designed,and its working bandwidth can reach about 1560 *** experimental results accord well with the simulation ***,two types of three-layer ventilation barriers are designed and demonstrated by using the unit cells with different values of a(the length of the hollow square region)and w(the width of the channel between the adjacent cavities),and the bandwidths of both ventilation barriers can increase to 3160 Hz and 3230 Hz,*** designed barrier structures have the advantages of ultra-broadband sound reduction and ventilation,which paves the way to designing high-performance ventilation barriers for the applications in environmental protection and architectural acoustics.

2D CaWO4 nanosheets derived from scheelite minerals for enhanced electrocatalysis in oxygen evolution reaction

Scheelite （CaWO4） mineral holds promise as a cost-effective and efficient catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction （OER）crucial in renewable energy ***,challenges such as limited active site exposure and low electrocatalytic performance need *** this work,we have fabricated two-dimensional （2D） CaWO4nanosheets from scheelite minerals via a straightforward ultrasonic exfoliation method and evaluated their efficacy as OER *** to scheelite powders,these 2D nanosheets exhibited superior crystallinity and a 1.26-fold increase in electrochemical surface area,promoting active site *** 2D CaWO4nanosheet electrode demonstrated outstanding OER catalytic performance,achieving a current density of 20 mA/cm2at an overpotential of 290 m V in alkaline conditions,which was lower than that of bulk CaWO4electrodes （～340 mV）.Density functional theory calculations attributed this enhanced catalytic performance to moderate adsorption of oxygenated intermediates （*OH,*O,and*OOH） on the W sites of 2D *** situ electrochemical atomic force microscopy tests also confirmed the catalytic enhancement by 2D CaWO4nanosheets during *** findings demonstrate the potential of affordable and abundant mineral resources in advancing electrochemical catalysts for oxygen evolution,highlighting their broader application in sustainable energy technologies.
