Fe/S oxidation-coupled arsenic speciation transformation mediated by AMD enrichment culture under different pH conditions

Arsenic(As)speciation transformation in acid mine drainage(AMD)is comprehensively affected by biological and abiotic factors,such as microbially mediated Fe/S redox reactions and changes in environmental conditions(pH and oxidation-reduction potential).However,their combined impacts on arsenic speciation transformation remain poorly ***,we explored arsenic transformation and immobilization during pyrite dissolution mediated by AMD enrichment culture under different acidic pH *** results for incubation and mineralogical transformation of solid residues show that in the presence of AMD enrichment culture,pH 2.0,2.5,and 3.0 are more conducive to the formation of jarosites and ferric arsenate,which could immobilize high quantities of dissolved arsenic by adsorption and *** pH conditions significantly affect the initial adsorption of microbial cells to the minerals and the evolution of microbial community structure,further infuencing the biodissolution of pyrite and the release and oxidation process of Fe/*** results of Fe/S/As speciation transformation of the solid residues show that the transformation of Fe,S,and As in solution is mainly regulated by pH and potential values,which imposed significantly different effects on the formation of secondary minerals and thus arsenic oxidation and *** above results indicated that arsenic transformation is closely related to the Fe/S oxidation associated with pyrite bio-oxidation,and this correlation is critically regulated by the pH conditions of the system.

Influence of light intensity and water content of medium on total dendrobine of Dendrobium nobile Lindl

Objective: To ascertain the influence of light intensity and water content of medium on the total dendrobine of Dendrobium nobile(D. nobile).Method: The principal component analysis combined with total dendrobine accumulation was conducted to assess the yield and quality of D. nobile in all treatments. In the experiment, D. nobile plants were cultivated in greenhouse as tested materials, and complete test of 9 treatments was adopted with relative light intensities 75.02%, 39.74%,29.93% and relative water content of medium 50%, 65%, 80%. The plants were treated in June and harvested till December. Indexes including agronomic traits, fresh weight and dry weight of stem and leaf, ash content, extract, and dendrobine were ***: Under the light intensity treatments of 75.02% with 50%, 65%, 80% water content of medium, the basal stems of plants were comparatively thicker with more leaves, and the fresh weight and dry weight of stems and leaves were significantly higher than other 6 *** in all treatments contained dendrobine. Under the light intensity treatments of 75.02%with 50%, 65%, 80% water content of medium, dendrobine content of leaves was lower while dendrobine contents of other treatments were more than 0.60%. After comprehensive assessment through the principal component analysis and total dendrobine accumulation, the results showed that 3 treatments with relative light intensity of 75.02% ranked the top ***: In brief, the moderately strong light intensity and water content of medium from low to medium can facilitate the growth and yield of D. nobile plants, while light intensity from moderately weak to weak can enhance the dendrobine content.

Effect of the surface microstructure of arsenopyrite on the attachment of Sulfobacillus thermosulfidooxidans in the presence of dissolved As(Ⅲ)

Understanding bacterial adsorption and the evolution of biofilms on arsenopyrite with different surface structures is of great signific-ance to clarifying the mechanism of microbe-mineral interfacial interactions and the production of acidic mine drainage impacting the *** this study,the attachment of Sulfobacillus thermosulfidooxidans cells and subsequent biofilm formation on arsenopyrite with different surface structures in the presence of dissolved As(Ⅲ)was *** slices with a specific surface were obtained by electrochemic-al corrosion at 0.26 *** scanning electronic microscopy-energy dispersion spectra analyses indicated that the arsenopyrite surface deficient in sulfur and iron obtained by electrochemical treatment was not favorable for the initial adsorption of bacteria,and the addition of As(Ⅲ)in-hibited the adsorption of microbial *** microscopy showed that the number of cells attaching to the arsenopyrite surface in-creased with time;however,biofilm formation was delayed significantly when As(Ⅲ)was added.

The analysis of genetic diversity and differentiation of six Chinese cattle populations using microsatellite markers

A total of 321 individuals from six cattle populations of four species in a bovine subfamily in China were studied using 12 pairs of microsatellite markers. The genetic diversities within and between populations were calculated. The phylogenetic trees were constructed by （δμ）^2 and DA distances, and the divergence times between populations were estimated by （δμ）^2. Altogether, 144 microsatellite alleles were detected including 24 private alleles and nine shared alleles. Chinese Holstein had the largest number of private alleles （10）, whereas Bohai black and Buffalo had the smallest number of private alleles （2）. Chinese Holstein showed the highest genetic variability. Its observed number of alleles （Na）, mean effective number of alleles （MNA）, and mean heterozygosity （He） were 7.7500, 4.9722, and 0.7719, respectively, whereas, the Buffalo and Yak showed low genetic variability. In the phylogenetic trees, Luxi and Holstein grouped first, followed by Bohai and Minnan. Yak branched next and buffalo emerged as the most divergent population from other cattle populations. Luxi and Bohai were estimated to have diverged 0.039-0.105 million years ago （MYA）, however, buffalo and Holstein diverged 0.501-1.337 MYA. The divergence time of Yak versus Minnan, Holstein and buffalo was 0.136-0.363, 0.273-0.729, and 0.326-0.600 MYA, respectively.

Transcriptome changes in Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. roots induced by methyl jasmonate

Transcriptome profiling has been widely used to analyze transcdptomic variation in plants subjected to abiotic or biotic stresses. Although gene expression changes induced by methyl jasmonate （MeJA） have been profiled in several plant species, no information is available on the MeJA-triggered transcriptome response of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb., a species with highly valuable medicinal properties. In this study, we used transcriptome profiling to investigate transcdptome changes in roots of P. mu/tiflorum seedlings subjected to a 0.25 mmol/L-MeJA rootirrigation treatment. A total of 18 677 differentially expressed genes （DEGs） were induced by MeJA treatment, of which 4535 were up-regulated and 14 142 were down-ragulated compared with controls. These DEGs were associated with 125 metabolic pathways. In addition to various common primary and secondary metabolic pathways, several sec- ondary metabolic pathways related to components with significant pharmacological effects were enriched by MeJA, including arachidonic acid metabolism, linoleic acid metabolism, and stilbenoid biosynthesis. The MeJA-induced transcdptome changes uncovered in this study provide a solid foundation for future study of functional genes controlling effective components in secondary metabolic pathways of P. multiflorum.

Asynchronism-synchronism of regional precipitation in South-to-North Water Transfer planned areas

This paper proposes a method on analyzing the asynchronism-synchronism of precipitation of different hydrological regions regarding the S-to-N water transfer areas of eastern China. The general process of the analysis includes three steps. Firstly, we created the rainfall series of the region concerned by calculating the regional average rainfall of the stations in the area with the help of the classical Thiessen Polygon method. Secondly, the standards of assessment indices for wetness or dryness are set according to Gamma distribution function with a certain probability P 37.5% or 62.5% given respectively. Finally, the frequency of nine combinations are counted as the quantitative feature of asynchronism and synchronism in three time scales, that is the yearly, seasonal and monthly scales. The asynchronism-synchronism of two region pairs has been estimated. The results show that the frequency of precipitation asynchronism in 1957–1998 is larger than the synchronism frequency for both the North China-middle and lower Yangtze River pair and for the North China-upper Hanjiang River pair. As for the synchronism phenomena, the frequency of Nd?Sd is rather low. As the combinations that are suitable for water transfers are Nd?Sw, Nn?Sw, Nd?Sn and Nn?Sn, the total frequency of these combinations for North China-middle and lower Yangtze River is 40% on an annual basis, but only 28% in spring when water shortages are most likely to occur. The total frequency of these combinations for North China-upper Hanjiang River is about 24% on an annual basis, but 35% in spring and winter. It should be noted that if future precipitation patterns are similar to that of the period 1957–1998, it is very important to change the natural character of asynchronism-synchronism by enhancing the capability of hydro-projects regulation and improving management of the water transfer project.

Lithium metal batteries（LMBs） with high energy density are impeded by the instability of solid electrolyte interface（SEI） and the uncontrolled growth of lithium（Li） *** mitigate these challenges,optimizing the SEI structure and Li deposition behavior is the key to stable *** study novelty proposes a facile synthesis of MgF2/carbon（C） nanocomposite through the mechanochemical reaction between metallic Mg and polytetrafluoroethylene（PTFE） powders,and its modified polypropylene（PP）separator enhances LMB *** in-situ formed highly conductive fluorine-doped C species play a crucial role in facilitating ion/electron transport,thereby accelerating electrochemical kinetics and altering Li deposition *** cycling,the in-situ reaction between MgF2and Li leads to the formation of LiMg alloy,along with a LiF-rich SEI layer,which reduces the nucleation overpotential and reinforces the interphase strength,leading to homogeneous Li deposition with dendrite-free *** from these merits,the Li metal is densely and uniformly deposited on the MgF2/C@PP separator side rather than on the current collector ***,the symmetric cell with MgF2/C@PP exhibits superb Li plating/stripping performance over 2800 h at 1 mA cm-2and 2 mA h *** importantly,the assembled Li@MgF2/C@PPILiFePO4full cell with a low negative/positive ratio of 3.6delivers an impressive cyclability with 82.7% capacity retention over 1400 cycles at 1 C.

Long-duration aqueous Zn-ion batteries achieved by dual-salt highly-concentrated electrolyte with low water activity

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries have attracted much attention due to their unique high safety and low-cost ***,their practical applications are at a slow pace due to their short cycle life,which fundamentally results from the instability of the positive/negative electrode interface in the traditional dilute aqueous electrolytes with high water *** highly concentrated electrolyte（HCE）has been considered as an effective *** previous studies of single salt-based HCE（SSHCE）,herein,a new dual-salt HCE（15 m ZnCl2+10 m NH4NH2SO3DS-HCE） was proposed for the first ***-HCE was proven to simultaneously possess higher conductivity than traditional dilute electrolytes and ultralow water activity of SS-HCE by the regulation of dual high-concentration salts on the solvation structure,which renders the Zn‖Zn symmetric cell the record-long cycling life of 2200 h compared with those with SS-HCE（30 m ZnCl2,300 h） and other reported ***,the Zn‖NH4V4O10full cell with DS-HCE demonstrated impressed rate capability within a wide-range current densities from 0.1 to 10 A ***,at the high current density of 5 A g-1,the full cell shows almost100% capacity retention after 4000 cycles,which indicates the promising future of the DS-HCE system for long-duration aqueous Zn-ion batteries.

Bioleaching of chalcopyrite with different crystal phases by Acidianus manzaensis

Bioleaching of chalcopyrite with different crystal structures (α-phase,β-phase and γ-phase) by Acidianus manzaensis was comparatively studied by synchrotron radiation based X-ray diffraction (SR-XRD) and S K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy. The α-phase,β-phase and γ-phase chalcopyrite was prepared by heating original chalcopyrite at 583, 773 and 848 K, respectively. Bioleaching results showed that [Cu^2+] in the leaching solution of α-phase,β-phase,γ-phase and original chalcopyrite after 10 days of bioleaching was 1.27, 1.86, 1.43 and 1.13 g/L, respectively, suggesting that β-phase had a better leaching kinetics than others. SR-XRD and XANES results indicated that jarosite and chalcopyrite were the main components in the leaching residues in all cases, and elemental sulfur formed in the early stage of bioleaching. While for β-phase and γ-phase chalcopyrite during bioleaching, bornite was produced in the initial stage of leaching, and turned into chalcocite on day 6.
