BACKGROUND Thallium poisoning is rare and difficult to *** diagnosis and treatment of thallium-poisoned patients are essential to prevent morbidity and *** To evaluate the efficacy of treatments and outcomes of five patients with early diagnosis of acute thallium *** Five patients who consumed a thallium-contaminated meal were hospitalized in succession,and underwent clinical examinations such as blood tests and electromyography *** and blood tests confirmed the diagnosis of thallotoxicosis,revealing the occurrence of food *** patients underwent detoxification treatment,including hemoperfusion(HP)and treatment with Prussian blue(PB).A 24-mo follow-up was performed to evaluate the long-term outcomes on the patients after *** Initially,the patients presented with symptoms of acute thallium poisoning including hyperalgesia of the limbs and abdominalgia,which may differ from common peripheral *** symptoms such as hepatic damage and alopecia were observed in all the patients,which further confirmed the diagnosis of *** with chelating agents was ineffective,while HP and treatment with PB drastically decreased the thallium concentration in the urine and *** early diagnosis and intervention,four patients had a good prognosis and no permanent *** patient developed blindness and disability during the 24-mo follow-up *** Identification of incident cluster and characteristic symptoms is extremely important for early diagnosis of acute thallium *** plus PB is essential to improve the prognosis of thallium-poisoned patients.

Inducible gene-expression systems play important roles in gene functional assays in the post-genome *** phage-derived phiC31 integrase,which mediates an irreversible site-specific cassette exchange between the phage attachment site(attP)and the bacterial attachment site(attB),provides a promising option for the construction of a controllable gene-expression ***,we report a phiC3I integrase-mediated promoter flip system(FLIP)for the inducible expression of target genes in silk-worm(Bombyx mori).First,we constructed a FLIP reporter system,in which a BmAct4 promoter with enhanced translational efficiency was flanked by the attB and attP sites in a head-to-head orientation and further linked in a reverse orientation to a DsRed reporter *** coexpression of a C-terminal modified phiC3 I-NLS integrase carrying a simian virus 40(SV40)nuclear localization signal(NLS)effectively flipped the BmAct4 promoter through an attBlattP exchange,thereby activating the downstream expression of DsRed in a silkworm embryo-derived cell line,***,the FLIP system,together with a system continuously expressing the phiC3 I-NLS integrase,was used to construct binary transgenic silkworm *** between FLIP and phiC31-NLS transgenic silkworm lines resulted in the successful flipping of the BmAct4 promoter,with an approximately 39%heritable transformation efficiency in silkworm offispring,leading to the constitutive and high-level expression of DsRed in silkworms,which accounted for approximately 0.81%of the silkworm pupal *** successful development of the FLIP system offers an effective alternative for manipulating gene expression in silkworms and other lepidopteran species.

Controlled stacking of different two-dimensional(2D)atomic layers hold great promise for significantly optimizing the optical properties of 2D materials and broadening their ***,vertical 2DMoS_(2)/Bi_(2)Te_(3) heterostructures with high crystallinity and optical quality have been successfully constructed,through drop-casting 2D Bi_(2)Te_(3) flakes on chemical vapor deposition(CVD)-grown MoS_(2) *** on our homebuilt micro Z-scan and pump-probe measurement,we precisely investigated and compared the nonlinear optical(NLO)performance of an individual micro-sized MoS_(2) flake before and after stacking 2D Bi_(2)Te_(3) ***,layer-dependent ultrafast carrier dynamics of CVD-grown MoS_(2) flakes were also *** to the efficient charge transfer from the monolayer(1 L)MoS_(2) to 2D Bi_(2)Te_(3),the 1L MoS_(2)/Bi_(2)Te_(3) heterostructure demonstrated excellent NLO performance with superior nonlinear saturable absorption coefficient and ultrashort carrier *** work greatly enriches our understanding of 2D heterostructure and paves the way for designing new type of tunable 2D photonics materials by combining the optical advantages of different 2D materials.

Engineering construction has major influence on the permafrost *** paper analyzes the interaction between engineering construction and permafrost environment along the Chaidaer-Muli Railway(simply,CMR) based on the press-state-response(PSR) *** permafrost environmental system is divided into three subsystems,consisting of permafrost thermal stability,proneness to the freeze-thawing erosion and permafrost ecological *** subsystem considers its most important influencing *** Progression Method(CPM) is applied to calculate the current environment condition along the *** result indicates that:(1) as far as the thermal stability is concerned,most sections along the CMR are mainly concentrated in rank Ⅲ(fair situation),and a few in Ⅱ(good situation) and Ⅳ(bad situation),respectively;(2) for the proneness tothe freeze-thawing erosion,the entire railway route falls largely in rank Ⅱ(good situation);(3) along the CMR,the ecological fragility of the permafrost environment is in rank Ⅱ(good situation),or slightly fragile;(4) overall,the permafrost environments along the CMR are in rank Ⅲ(fair situation) or Ⅱcondition(good situation).In general,the permafrost environment along the CMR is *** is mainly because a series of active measures of protecting permafrost were taken for stabilizing the CMR foundation *** the one hand,we should try our best to minimize the influences that engineering activities have exerted on ecology and environment,on the other hand,the positive measures have made improvements to prevent the permafrost environment from deterioration.

Uveitis is a sophisticated syndrome showing a high relevance with reactive oxygen species(ROS).Herein,an ROS-responsive PEGylated polypeptide based macromolecular prodrug of herbaceous antioxidant ethyl caffeate(EC)is designed via phenylboronic esters with improved solubility for the alleviation of *** antioxidative 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol(HBA)and EC can be released from the macromolecular EC prodrug under the stimulation of ROS,which can effectively protect cells against oxidative stress-induced injury in an ROS-depletion *** antioxidative and protective effects of the macromolecular EC prodrug in vivo are further verified in a uveitis mouse ***,this work not only provides a handy method to synthesize a phenylboronic ester-bearing EC prodrug which is highly sensitive to pathological ROS,but also depicts a promising future to apply macromolecular antioxidative prodrugs in the treatment of uveitis as well as other ROS-related diseases.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy （LIBS） has been regarded as a future superstar for chemical analysis for years due to its unique features such as little or no sample preparation, remote sensing, and fast and multi-element analysis. Chinese LIBS comnmnity is one of the most dynamically developing communities in the World. The aim of the work is to inspect what have been done in China for LIBS development and, based on the understanding of the overall status, to identify the challenges and opportunities for the future development. In this paper, the scientific contributions from Chinese LIBS comlnunity are reviewed for the following four aspects： fimdamentals, instrumentation, data processing and modeling, and applications; and the driving force of LIBS development in China is analyzed, the critical issues for successful LIBS application are discussed, and in our opinion, the potential direction to improve the technology and to realize large scale commercialization in China is proposed.
