Nanomaterials as lubricating oil additives have attracted significant attention because of their designable composition and structure,suitable mechanical property,and tunable surface ***,the poor compatibility between nanomaterials and base oil limits their further *** this work,we demonstrated oil-soluble poly(lauryl methacrylate)(PLMA)brushes-grafted metal-organic frameworks nanoparticles(nanoMOFs)as lubricating oil additives that can achieve efficient friction reduction and anti-wear *** were synthesized by free-radical polymerization,which was coordinatively grafted onto the surface of the UiO-67 ***,PLMA brushes were grown on the macroinitiator-modified UiO-67 by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization,which greatly improved the lipophilic property of the UiO-67 nanoparticles and significantly enhanced the colloidal stability and long-term dispersity in both non-polar solvent and base *** adding UiO-67@PLMA nanoparticles into the 500 SN base oil,coefficient of friction and wear volume reductions of 45.3%and 75.5%were achieved due to their excellent mechanical properties and oil ***,the load-carrying capacity of 500 SN was greatly increased from 100 to 500 N by the UiO-67@PLMA additives,and their excellent tribological performance was demonstrated even at a high friction frequency of 65 Hz and high temperature of 120℃.Our work highlights oil-soluble polymer brushes-functionalized nanoMOFs for highly efficient lubricating additives.

Dear Editor,Coronaviruses have evolved a wide array of tactics to evade host antiviral *** host cells detect invading foreign nucleic acids including viral genome and viral replication intermediates,they activate interferon(IFN)signaling via cytoplasmic pattern recognition receptors(Kang et al.,2002;Kato et al.,2006).Remarkable stealth activities exhibited by coronaviruses are facilitated by a series of non-structural proteins(Nsps),such as Nsp15(Deng and Baker,2018;Deng et al.,2019;Hackbart et al.,2020),which is a uridine-specific endoribonuclease that mediates evasion of host detection of viral double-stranded RNA(dsRNA)(Bhardwaj et al.,2004;Deng et al.,2017;Frazier et al.,2021;Ivanov et al.,2004).Nsp15 targets a polyuridine[poly(U)]tract on the coronavirus negative strand RNA(Hackbart et al.,2020).Nsp15 limits the abundance and length of poly(U)within the negative strand RNA 5ʹ-extension by trimming down the initially synthesized poly(U)lead sequence to the optimal length that can suppress dsRNA formation but still serves as a template for poly(A)tail of the positive strand genome of the coronaviruses(Hofmann and Brian,1991).

Several studies have confirmed that the health status of the paternal affects the health of the offspring,however,it remains unknown whether paternal exposure to pesticides affect the offspring ***,we used untargeted metabolomics and 16S rRNA sequencing technology,combined with tail suspension test and RT-qPCR to explore the effects of paternal exposure to nitenpyram on the neurotoxicity of *** results found that the paternal exposure to nitenpyram led to the offspring’s depressive-like behaviors,accompanied by the reduction of tryptophan content and the disorder of microbial abundance in the gut of the ***,we determined the expression of tryptophan metabolism-related genes tryptophanase(tnaA)and tryptophan hydroxylase 1(TpH1)in gut bacteria and colonic *** found that tryptophan is metabolized to indoles rather than being absorbed into colonocytes,which coursed the reduce of tryptophan availability after nitenpyram *** conclusion,our study deepens our understanding of the intergenerational toxic effects of pesticides.

Inverting the rock mass P-wave velocity field ahead of deep buried tunnel face while borehole drilling

Imaging the wave velocity field surrounding a borehole while drilling is a promising and urgently needed approach for extending the exploration range of the borehole *** paper develops a drilling process detection(DPD)system consisting of a multifunctional sensor and a pilot geophone installed at the top of the drilling rod,geophones at the tunnel face,a laser rangefinder,and an onsite computer.A weighted adjoint-state first arrival travel time tomography method is used to invert the P-wave velocity field of rock mass while borehole drilling.A field experiment in the ongoing construction of a deep buried tunnel in southwestern China demonstrated the DPD system and the tomography ***-frequency analysis of typical borehole drilling detection data shows that the impact drilling source is a pulse-like seismic exploration wavelet.A velocity field of the rock mass in a triangular area defined by the borehole trajectory and geophone receiving line can be *** the borehole core and optical image validate the inverted P-wave velocity field.A numerical simulation of a checkerboard benchmark model is used to test the tomography *** rapid convergence of the misfits and consistent agreement between the inverted and observed travel times validate the P-wave velocity imaging.

Humic acids(HAs) are widely used as filtrate and viscosity reducers in drilling fluids. However, their practical utility is limited due to poor stability in salt resistance and high-temperature resistance. Hightemperature coal pitch(CP) is a by-product from coal pyrolysis above 650.C. The substance's molecular structure is characterized by a dense arrangement of aromatic hydrocarbon and alkyl substituents. This unique structure gives it unique chemical properties and excellent drilling performance, surpassing traditional humic acids in drilling operations. Potassium humate is prepared from CP(CP-HA-K) by thermal catalysis. A new type of high-quality humic acid temperature-resistant viscosity-reducer(Graft CP-HA-K polymer) is synthesized with CP-HA-K, hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile sodium salt(Na-HPAN),urea, formaldehyde, phenol and acrylamide(AAM) as raw materials. The experimental results demonstrate that the most favorable conditions for the catalytic preparation of CP-HA-K are 1 wt% catalyst dosage, 30 wt% KOH dosage, a reaction temperature of 250.C, and a reaction time of 2 h, resulting in a maximum yield of CP-HA-K of 39.58%. The temperature resistance of the Graft CP-HA-K polymer is measured to be 177.39.C, which is 55.39.C higher than that of commercial HA-K. This is due to the abundant presence of amide, hydroxyl, and amine functional groups in the Graft CP-HA-K polymer,which increase the length of the carbon chains, enhance the electrostatic repulsion on the surface of solid particles. After being aged to 120.C for a specified duration, the Graft CP-HA-K polymer demonstrates significantly higher viscosity reduction(42.12%) compared to commercial HA-K(C-HA-K). Furthermore,the Graft CP-HA-K polymer can tolerate a high salt concentration of 8000 mg.L-1, measured after the addition of optimum amount of 3 wt% Graft CP-HA-K polymer. Data augmentation is an important task of using existing data to expand data *** generative countermeasure network technology to realize data augmentation has the advantages of high-quality generated samples,simple training,and fewer restrictions on the number of generated ***,in the field of transmission line insulator images,the freely synthesized samples are prone to produce fuzzy backgrounds and disordered samples of the main insulator *** solve the above problems,this paper uses the cycle generative adversarial network(Cycle-GAN)used for domain conversion in the generation countermeasure network as the initial framework and uses the self-attention mechanism and channel attention mechanism to assist the conversion to realize the mutual conversion of different insulator *** attention module with prior knowledge is used to build the generation countermeasure network,and the generative adversarial network(GAN)model with local controllable generation is built to realize the directional generation of insulator belt defect *** experimental results show that the samples obtained by this method are improved in a number of quality indicators,and the quality effect of the samples obtained is excellent,which has a reference value for the data expansion of insulator images.

Certain plant species within the Apiales order accumulate triterpenoid saponins that feature a distinctive glucose-glucose-rhamnose(G-G-R)sugar chain attached at the C-28 position of the pentacyclic triterpene *** recently,the genomic basis underlying the biosynthesis and evolution of this sugar chain has remained *** this study,we identified two novel glycoside glycosyltransferases(GGTs)that can sequentially install the sugar chain’s second D-glucose and third L-rhamnose during the biosynthesis of asiaticoside and madecassoside,two representative G-G-R sugar chain-containing triterpenoid saponins produced by Centella *** assays revealed the remarkable substrate promiscuity of the two GGTs and the key residues crucial for sugar-donor selectivity of the glucosyltransferase and rhamnosyl*** further identified syntenic tandem gene duplicates of the two GGTs in the Apiaceae and Araliaceae families,suggesting a well-conserved genomic basis underlying sugar chain assembly that likely has evolved in the early ancestors of the Apiales ***,expression patterns of the two GGTs in pierced leaves of *** were found to be correlated with the production of asiaticoside and madecassoside,implying their involvement in host defense against herbivores and *** work sheds light on the biosynthesis and evolution of complex saponin sugars,paving the way for future engineering of diverse bioactive triterpenoids with unique glycoforms.

Quantitative method to predict the energetics of helium-nanocavities interactions in metal systems based on electrophobic interaction

Energetics of helium-nanocavities interactions are crucial for unveiling underlying mechanisms of nanocavity evolution in nuclear ***,it becomes intractable and even not feasible to obtain these energetics via atomic simulations with increasing nanocavity size and increasing helium content in ***,a universal scaling law of helium-induced interaction energies in nanocavities in metal systems is proposed based on electrophobic interaction of *** on this scaling law and ab-initio calculations,a predictive method for binding energies of helium and displacement defects to nanocavities of arbitrary sizes and with different helium/vacancy ratios is established for BCC iron as a representative and validated by atomic *** predictive method reveals that the critical helium/vacancy ratio for helium-enhanced vacancy binding to nanocavities in-creases with increasing nanocavity size,and the helium/vacancy ratio giving the highest stability of nanocavities is about *** Ostwald ripening of nanocavities is delayed by helium to higher temper-atures due to reduced vacancy de-trapping rates from *** proposed scaling law can be generalized to many metal systems studied in the nuclear materials *** readily coupled into mesoscale models of irradiation damages,this predictive method facilitates clarifying helium role in cavity swelling of metallic nuclear materials.
