Elastomers with high mechanical toughness can guarantee their durability during service ***-healing ability,as well as recyclability,can also extend the life of materials and save the consuming cost of the *** efforts have been dedicated to promoting the mechanical toughness as well as the self-healing capability of elastomers at the same time,while it remains a challenge to balance the trade-off between the above properties in one *** we proposed a molecular design driven by dual interactions of acylsemicarbazide hydrogen bonding and Cu^(2+)-neocuproine coordination *** introducing the reversible multiple hydrogen bonds and strong coordination bonds,we successfully fabricated an extremely tough and self-healing *** elastomer can achieve an impressive top-notch toughness of 491 MJ/m^(3).Furthermore,it boasted rapid elastic restorability within 10 min and outstanding crack tolerance with high fracture energy(152.6kJ/m^(2)).Benefiting from the combination of dynamic interactions,the material was able to self-repair under 80℃conveniently and could be reprocessed to restore the exceptional mechanical properties.

AIM: To detect and analyze the changes on ocular surface and tear function in type II diabetic patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR), an advanced stage of diabetic retinopathy(DR), using conventional ophthalmic tests and the high-resolution laser scanning confocal ***: Fifty-eight patients with type II diabetes were selected. Based on the diagnostic criteria and stage classification of DR, the patients were divided into the non-DR(NDR) group and the PDR group. Thirty-six patients with cataract but no other ocular and systemic disease were included as non-diabetic controls. All the patients were subjected to the conventional clinical tests of corneal sensitivity, Schirmer I test, and corneal fluorescein staining. The non-invasive tear film break-up time(NIBUT) and tear interferometry were conducted by a Tearscope Plus. The morphology of corneal epithelia and nerve fibers was examined using the high-resolution confocal ***: The NDR group exhibited significantly declined corneal sensitivity and Schirmer I test value, as compared to the non-diabetic controls(P <0.001). The PDR group showed significantly reduced corneal sensitivity, Schirmer I test value, and NIBUT in comparison to the non-diabetic controls(P <0.001).Corneal fluorescein staining revealed the progressively injured corneal epithelia in the PDR patients. Moreover,significant decrease in the corneal epithelial density andmorphological abnormalities in the corneal epithelia and nerve fibers were also observed in the PDR ***: Ocular surface changes, including blunted corneal sensitivity, reduced tear secretion, tear film dysfunction, progressive loss of corneal epithelia and degeneration of nerve fibers, are common in type II diabetic patients, particularly in the diabetic patients with PDR. Since its approval by the Food and Drug Administration in 2011,transcatheter aortic valve implantation(TAVI)has rapidly evolved to become the preferred ultimate intervention for high-and intermediate-risk patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis.[1]This is due to its non-open-heart,minimally invasive and off-pump advantages.[1]Nevertheless,as a result of the frequent frailty and comorbidity profiles of patients undergoing TAVI,such as advanced cardiac dysfunction and extensive coronary artery disease,or technically difficult anatomy for the procedure itself,[2-4]it is common for these patients to experience critical circulatory collapse *** factors are linked to elevated mortality rates,necessitating suitable mechanical circulatory support(MCS)to reverse the disastrous situations.[5]

A model of universal single layer organic solar cells in metal-insulator-metal (MIM) representation involving field-depen-dent carrier mobility is set up. The current-voltage characteristics as well as the distribution of electron density,hole density and recombination rate on a set of parameters are simulated. Subsequently,the dependences of the short-circuit current density (Jsc) and open-circuit voltage (Voc) on the electron and hole zero-field mobility,excitation generation rate,energy gap,as well as electron-hole pair distance in an excitation are investigated. It is demonstrated that the enhancement of either the electron mobility or the hole mobility can contribute to the increase of Jsc in the devices. The increase of the hole mobility can lead to the improvement of both Jsc and Voc,and the simultaneous increase of the electron mobility and hole mobility will greatly elevate Jsc but maintain a steady Voc. Additionally,all the increases of the excitation generation rate,energy gap and electron-hole pair distance are beneficial to both the remarkable increases of Jsc and Voc of the devices.

As the velocity of a train increases,the corresponding air pumping power consumption of the brake discs increases *** the present experimental study,a standard axle-mounted brake disc with circumferential pillars was analyzed using a 1:1 scale model and a test rig in a wind *** particular,three upstream velocities were selected on the basis of earlier investigations of trains operating at 160,250,and 400 km/h,***,3D steady computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations of the flow field were conducted to compare with the wind tunnel test *** results for a 3-car train at 180 km/h demonstrated:(1)good agreement between the air resistance torques obtained from the wind tunnel tests and the related numerical results,with differences ranging from 0.95%to 5.88%;(2)discrepancies ranging from 3.2 to 3.8 N·m;(3)cooling ribs contributing more than 60%of the air resistance torque;(4)the fast rotation of brake discs causing a significantly different flow field near the bogie area,resulting in 25 times more air pumping power loss than that obtained in the stationary brake-disc case.

Increasing operational stability of journal bearing in hydraulic suspension micro-pump by herringbone grooved structure

The operational stability of radial journal bearings is the bottleneck that limits the reliability of hydraulic suspension micropump. Due to self-excited vibrations, the whirl amplitude of the plain journal bearing(PJB) is large at high rotational speeds,which will accelerate wear failure. It has been proven that employing herringbone grooved journal bearing(HGJB) is an effective method to reduce the whirl amplitude and improve operational stability. However, enhancing the stability of journal bearings in micro-pumps by herringbone grooved structures has rarely been studied, and its effect needs to be verified. We validated the mechanism of the stability improvement with the CFD method and compared the dynamic characteristics of HGJB and PJB by rotor dynamics evaluation and experiment. The experimental results show that under the same conditions the whirl amplitude of the HGJB decreases by 29.61% in the x direction and by 24.09% in the y direction compared with that of the PJB. This study reveals the effect of the herringbone grooved structure on the operational stability of bearings and may provide guidance for the reliability improvement of hydraulic suspension micro-pump.
