Role of transport polarization in electrocatalysis:A case study of the Ni-cluster/Graphene interface

As cathodes,iron-series(Fe,Co,Ni)clusters supported by carbon materials exhibit outstanding electrocatalytic reduction activities in many electrocatalytic *** date,this general characteristic of ironseries clusters that should be related to the inherent attributes of these electrodes has not been fully understood from the perspectives of thermodynamics and electronic structure *** transport is a necessary process in electrocatalysis,and therefore,the study of the change of the electronic state in electron transport is beneficial for understanding this general characteristic of iron-series cluster *** this work,the electron transport properties,including the conductivity and transport spin-polarization at the Ni-cluster/graphene interface are carefully investigated as an example of carbon-supported iron-series *** first-principles calculations within the framework of the nonequilibrium Green’s function density functional theory(NEGF-DFT),we reveal that the electronic transport states of the coupled Ni-cluster/graphene are strongly changed compared to those of their isolated Ni-cluster and graphene *** is found that graphene dominates the overall conductivity of the interface,while the morphology of Ni-clusters controls the spin polarization *** spin polarization can lead to the self-excitation effect of the electrons that raises the energy of the electronic system,improves the thermodynamics of the reduction reaction and promotes catalytic *** work hints that iron-series elements(Fe,Co,Ni)based electrodes may generally show transport polarization that is likely to give rise to a high electrocatalytic reduction activity and such transport polarizability can be used as a new factor in the further exploration and design for electrocatalytic materials.

Vaccines are one of the most practical means to stop the spreading of Aeromonas veronii in *** this study,virulence factor aerolysin mutant NTaer which has lost its hemolytic activity was used as a target *** pastoris constitutive secretory expression NTaer(GS115-NTaer)was used as a potential safe oral vaccine to evaluate its effectiveness on zebrafish *** result shows that vaccination of GS115-NTaer for four weeks did not affect the growth performance of the host,while eliciting an effective immune protective *** with the control group,the GS115-NTaer could significantly up-regulate the relative expression level of the intestinal tight junction protein 1α(TJP1α)gene,and significantly increased the contents of lysozyme(LYZ),complement C3 and C4 in the gut,indicating that the innate immune response of the fish was *** relative gene expression levels of macrophage-expressed gene 1(MPEG1)and T cell receptor(TCR-α)in the gut,and MPEG1,CD4,CD8,TCR-α,GATA3,and T-bet in the spleen were all increased significantly,indicating that the cellular immune response of the fish was ***,the contents of serum IgM and intestinal mucosa IgZ antibodies were significantly increased,which showed that humoral immunity was also ***,inoculation with GS115-NTaer significantly changed the structure of gut *** particular,the relative ratio of(Firmicutes+Fusobacteriota+Bacteroidota)/Proteobacteria was significantly higher than that of the control and GS115 ***,the vaccinated fish were challenged with ***,and the relative percent survival of GS115 and the GS115-NTear groups was 14.28%and 33.43%.This improvement of immunity was not only due to the specific immune response but also attributed to the improvement of innate immunity and the gut microbiota which was demonstrated by the germ-free zebrafish ***,this study provides information on the effectiveness of GS115-NTear

The Effect of Dietary Vegetable Oilseeds Supplement on Fatty Acid Profiles in Milk Fat from Lactating Dairy Cows

To determine the effect of dietary supplementation with vegetable oilseeds on the composition of bovine milk fatty acids （FAs）, 40 Holstein dairy cows were used with a complete randomized design. At the beginning of the experiment, the cows were 150±25 day in milk （DIM）. Total duration of the experiment was six weeks. Measurements were made during the last three weeks. Cows in four treatments were fed with a basal diet （CT） or basal diet supplemented with either whole full fat soybean （WFS）, full fat expanded soybean （FPS） or whole full fat soybean with whole cottonseed and full fat expanded soybean （MIX）. The composition of the milk fat was analyzed by gas chromatography. Relative to control, the conjugated linoleic acid （CLA） concentration in milk fat from cows on FPS was significantly increased by 83.88% （P〈 0.05）. The proportions of C12：0 were decreased by 35.7, 35.51, and 38.65% in milk fat from cows on WFS, MIX, and FPS compared with cows on CT. Similar decreases in C 14：0 were 23.83, 24.85, and 31.48% in WFS, MIX, and FPS treatments, respectively. Feeding vegetable oilseeds increased the proportion of healthy FAs （mainly CLA）, whereas decreased the concentratiofi of C12：0 and C14：0. Therefore, milk and dairy products would have higher nutritive and therapeutic value.

Development and Application of a PCR Approach for Detection of Bovis, Sheep, Pig, and Chicken Derived Materials in Feedstuff

A PCR method for detection of bovis, sheep, pig, and chicken derived materials in feedstuff was established, and the existing method was improved according to the research on general primer and species-specific primers. First, general primer designed according to 16S rRNA gene sequence of hovis, sheep, pig, chicken, fish, and horse mtDNA was used for primary detection of animal derived materials in feedstuff. Species-specific primers designed according to conserved sequence of mtDNA of bovis, sheep, pig, and chicken were used for amplification of a 271,274, 149, and 266 bp fragment, respectively. Further confirmation of the detection result was then carried out. PCR method for detection of animal derived materials in unknown feedstuff was developed by using general primer, relevant PCR system, and PCR condition. Also a PCR method for detection of each species （bovines, sheep, pig, and chicken） was designed by using our speciesspecific primers. High sensitivity and specificity of our method were confirmed with a minimum detection level of 0.1%. Method for detection of animal derived materials in this research is not only cheap and easy for operation but also precise and reliable results can be obtained. It could be one of the effective methods for the detection of animal derived materials in feedstuff.

Optic neuritis combined with hepatitis B and neurosyphilis

Optic neuritis is defined as inflammation of the optic nerve. Pain and vision loss are common symptoms ofoptic neuritis. The most frequent cause of optic neuritis is multiple sclerosis： other reasons include viral and bacterial infections, such as hepatitis B and syphilis. We describe a case of a 60-year-old man with a 3-year history of decreased vision acuity in his right eye and a 1-year history of decreased vision acuity in his left eye with light headedness who was admitted to the Neuro- ophthalmological Department of the General Hospital of Chinese People＇s Liberation Army. He had a 2-year past medical history of hypertension and blood pressure instability. None of his family members suffered from vision loss and he had no systemic diseases, especially diabetes mellitus as well as drug usage or toxic exposure.

Sequence-activated chemiluminescence probes: programmable illumination for high-contrast in vivo sensing and imaging

Sequence-activated chemiluminescence(CL) technique offers a unique approach to detecting specific biomolecules or cellular events with high sensitivity and spatial resolution. The fundamental principle behind sequence-activated CL probes involves tailoring highly-controllable CL signals in response to specific sequences or events of interest, thus enabling high-contrast signals under complex physiological conditions. This sequential activation could be triggered by enzymes, reactive oxygen species(ROS), biothiols or changes in the microenvironment. These unique sequence-activated CL probes bestow several advantages, including minimal background, deep-tissue penetration, and the ability of non-invasive or minimally invasive detection. The sequence-activated CL techniques represent a significant advancement in molecular imaging and diagnostics. In this mini-review, we focus on the latest developments in sequential CL probes, addressing the technical challenges and discussing the future trajectory by harnessing CL signaling and molecular recognition.

Effect of a Carbon Fibre-steel Fibre-graphite Conductive Filler on the Electrothermal Properties of Cementitious Materials

Carbon fibre,steel fibre and graphite were used as conductive fillers to prepare cementitious materials with excellent electrothermal *** electrically conductive cementitious materials with different volume dosages were analysed through compressive and flexural strength,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and temperature rise *** equivalent circuit model was established to study the electrically conductive heat generation mechanism in the electrically conductive cementitious *** results indicate that the mechanical properties of cementitious composite materials with a ternary conductive phase are better than those of pristine cementitious materials because the fibrous filler improves their mechanical ***,the incorporation of graphite in the material reduces its *** fibrous and point-like conductive phase materials into the cementitious material enhances the overall conductive pathway and considerably reduces the electrical resistance of the cementitious material,enhancing its conductive *** volume ratios of carbon fibre,steel fibre and graphite that achieve an optimal complex doping in the cementitious material were 0.35%,0.6%and 6%,*** was determined using the mutation point of each circuit element parameter as the percolation *** addition,at a certain safety voltage,there is a uniform change between the internal and surface temperatures of the conductive cementitious material,and the heating effect in this materialis is considerably better than that in the pristine cementitious material.

Tumor inflammation-specific self-amplifying fluorescent molecular probes induce an anti-tumor immune response

Enhancing the concentration of exogenous molecular drugs within the tumor microenvironment through enzyme-catalyzed polymerization presents a novel strategy for cancer therapy. Nonetheless, the optimization of the catalytic efficiency is often impeded by the inefficient expression of enzymes. Herein, we reported a self-amplifying fluorescent molecular probe, Bis-HTPICG, for photodynamic therapy(PDT) and subsequent PDT-induced immunoreaction. The Bis-HTP-ICG probe possesses a noticeable enzyme-catalyzed polymerization facilitated by myeloperoxidase(MPO), a crucial enzyme secreted by neutrophils at inflammation sites. Upon exposure to laser irradiation, Bis-HTP-ICG showed a high PDT efficacy, inducing an acute inflammatory response that stimulates further recruitment of neutrophils and then elevated MPO secretion. The heightened level of MPO enhances the accumulation of the Bis-HTP-ICG via self-polymerization or binding with intratumoral proteins following MPO enzyme catalysis, instigating a self-amplifying chain reaction cycle involving Bis-HTP-ICG, neutrophils and ***, PDT efficiently incites immunogenic cell death(ICD) in tumor cells, initiating an anti-tumor immune response including dendritic cells(DCs) maturation, T cell proliferation and reprogramming of tumor-associated neutrophils(TANs). This work portrays a promising strategy for self-amplification of fluorescent molecular probes through adjustable enzyme levels,potentially offering a unique avenue to enhance the tumor accumulation of molecular drugs for improved tumor therapy.

Quantum public-key crypto via EPR pairs

With the development of quantum computing technology, quantum public-key cryptography is gradually becoming an alternative to the existing classical public-key cryptography. This paper designs a quantum trapdoor one-way function via EPR pairs and quantum measurements. Based on this, a new quantum public-key cryptosystem is presented, which offers forward security,and can resist the chosen-plaintext attack and chosen-ciphertext attack. Compared with the existing quantum public-key cryptos,eavesdropping can be automatically detected in this new quantum public-key cryptosystem under a necessary condition, which is also detailed in the paper.

Effect of the maternal-fetal interface immunoregulation on the occurrence of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy

Maternal immune tolerance of the fetus is indispensable for a healthy pregnancy. Currently, the study of the immune microenvironment of the maternal-fetal interface has been a heated topic in reproductive immunology research. More and more studies show that the immune imbalance in the maternal-fetal interface plays a very important role in the incidence of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP). However, the precise etiology and mechanism of immune imbalance in the occurrence of ICP is still unknown. In order to clarify the potential immunologic mechanisms of ICP, this review summarizes the recent studies of the decidual immunology microenvironment and the potential immunologic mechanisms related to the development of ICP.
