Imaging findings of primary pulmonary synovial sarcoma with secondary distant metastases:A case report

BACKGROUND Synovial sarcoma(SS)accounting for 6%-10%of primary soft tissue malignancies mainly occurs in deep soft tissue adjacent to joints of the *** pulmonary SS(PPSS)is rare and has a poor *** of secondary distant metastases of PPSS occur rarely and there is a lack of corresponding imaging *** summarized the imaging findings of PPSS with multiple metastases confirmed by surgery and pathology,and shared valuable information on *** SUMMARY A 43-year-old female patient had a solid space occupying lesion in the right upper lobe of the *** results of a hemogram,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)and tumor markers were all within the normal range,tuberculin skin test(5 TU PPD)was negative(-).Chest computed tomography examination showed similar round soft tissue density in the posterior segment of the right upper ***-assisted wedge resection of the right upper lobe of the lung,right upper lobe resection and lymph node dissection were *** months after surgery,ultrasound examination showed multiple metastases on the chest wall and *** PPSS is a rare malignant lung tumor with strong invasiveness,early distant metastasis and poor *** are very few imaging *** is often manifested as irregular tumor and calcification,and the metastases have extremely low echo on ***-enhanced ultrasound indicates that the arterial phase of tumor metastases shows rapid centripetal high enhancement,manifested as“fast forward and fast regression”.

Fermentation Performance and Characterization of Cold-Adapted Lipase Produced with Pseudomonas Lip35

Strain of Pseudomonas Lip35 producing lipase was isolated in a refrigerator. Lipase production and characterization of this strain were investigated under different conditions. The Pseudomonas was cultivated in shaking flasks in a fermentation medium in various nutritional and physical environments. Lipase production has been influenced by the presence of yeast-extract, soybean powder, NaCI, and Tween-80. Maximum lipase productivity was obtained when the physical environment of the fermentation medium was optimal for 67 h. The production of lipase reached 58.9 U·mL^-1. The lipase of Pseudomonas Lip35 can be considered to be inducible, but the inducer had little influence on the production of lipase. The lipase was characterized and showed high lipolytic activity from pH 7.5-8.0. The optimum temperature was observed at 20℃ and the thermal inactivation of lipase was obvious at 60℃. The lipase activity was inhibited by K＋, stimulated by Ca^2＋, and thermostability decreased in the presence of Ca^2＋, therefore the lipase was Ca^2＋ -dependent cold-adapted enzyme.

Antibacterial properties and corrosion resistance of AISI 420 stainless steels implanted by silver and copper ions

Silver or copper ions are often chosen as antibacterial agents. But a few reports are concerned with these two antibacterial agents for preparation of antibacterial stainless steel （SS）. The antibacterial properties and corrosion resistance of AISI 420 stainless steel implanted by silver and copper ions were investigated. Due to the cooperative antibacterial effect of silver and copper ions, the Ag/Cu implanted SS showed excellent antibacterial activities against both Gram-negative Escherichia coli （E. coli） and Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus （S. aureus） at a total implantation dose of 2~ 1017 ions/cm2. Electrochemical polarization curves revealed that the corrosion resistance of Ag/Cu implanted SS was slightly enhanced as compared with that of un-implanted SS, The implanted layer was characterized by X-ray photoelec- tron spectroscopy （XPS）. Core level XPS spectra indicate that the implanted silver and copper ions exist in metallic state in the implanted layer.

Transvenous embolization of cavernous dural arteriovenous fistula:report of 28 cases

Background Usually, cavernous dural arteriovenous fistula can be treated via transarterial approaches. However, in many complicated patients, transvenous approaches are superior to the transarterial ones because of the difficulties during a transarterial operation. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of 28 patients with cavernous dural arteriovenous fistula treated by transvenous embolization. Methods From September 2001 to December 2005, 28 patients with 31 cavernous dural arteriovenous fistulae were treated with transvenous embolization in Beijing Tiantan Hospital. The involved cavernous sinuses were catheterized via the femoral vein-inferior petrosal sinus approach or the femoral-facial-superior ophthalmic vein approach, and embolized with coils （GDC, EDC, Matrix, Orbit or free coil） or coils plus silk. The patients were followed up for 3 to 26 months. Results All the 31 cavernous sinuses in the 28 patients were successfully embolized. Complete angiographic obliteration of the fistulae was achieved immediately in 25 patients. Residual shunting was observed in the other 3, who had drainage through the pterygoid plexus （2 patients） or the inferior petrosal sinus （1） after the operation. Headache and vomiting were the most common symptoms after the embolization. In 3 patients, who achieved complete angiographic obliteration immediately, the left oculomotor nerve palsy remained unchanged after the operation. Transient abducens nerve palsy was encountered in 1. In 1 patient, the occular symptoms were improved after the operation, but recurred 4 days later, and then disappeared spontaneously after 5 days. During the follow-up, no patient had recurrence. Three months after the operation, angiography was performed on the 3 patients with residual shunting. Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy for accidental papillary thyroid microcarcinoma： comparison with conventional open thyroidectomy with 5 years follow-up

Background Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy （MIVAT） has received increasing attention for malignant thyroid diseases. The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of MIVAT with conventional open thyroidectomy （CT） for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma （PTMC）. Methods Thirty-one patients were treated with MIVAT and 37 with CT. Their pathological characteristics, surgical complications, 5-year postoperative thyroglobulin （TG） and ultrasonic results were followed up. Results All the patients took levothyroxine for suppressing thyroid stimulating hormone （TSH） after surgery, and were followed up with measurement of serum TG and neck ultrasonography at intervals of 6 or 12 months. There was no statistically significant difference between the CT and MIVAT groups for sex ratio, operation time, positive lymph nodes, complications and prognosis, but the MIVAT group had better cosmetic results. Conclusions MIVAT did not differ significantly from CT for PTMC after 5 years follow-up, but it did have better cosmetic results. MIVAT is a safe and valid surgical technique for selected cases.

It assesses the current applications and challenges of peptide-based drugs in these diseases, illustrating the pharmaceutical areas where peptide-based drugs demonstrate significant potential. Furthermore, this review analyzes the obstacles that must be overcome in the future,aiming to provide valuable insights and references for the continued advancement of peptidebased drugs.
