Accelerating H^(*)desorption of hollow Mo_(2)C nanoreactor via in-situ grown carbon dots for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Molybdenum carbide(Mo_(2)C)is a promising non-noble metal electrocatalyst with electronic structures similar to Pt for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).However,strong H^(*)adsorption at the Mo sites hinders the improvement of HER ***,we synthesized monodisperse hollow Mo_(2)C nanoreactors,in which the carbon dots(CD)were in situ formed onto the surface of Mo_(2)C through carburization *** to finite element simulation and analysis,the CD@Mo_(2)C possesses better mesoscale diffusion properties than Mo_(2)C *** optimized CD@Mo_(2)C nanoreactor demonstrates superior HER performance in alkaline electrolyte with a low overpotential of 57 mV at 10 mA cm^(−2),which is better than most Mo_(2)C-based ***,CD@Mo_(2)C exhibits excellent electrochemical stability during 240 h,confirmed by operando Raman and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Density functional theory(DFT)calculations show that carbon dots cause the d-band center of CD@Mo_(2)C to shift away from Fermi level,promoting water dissociation and the desorption of H^(*).This study provides a reasonable strategy towards high-activity Mo-based HER eletrocatalysts by modulating the strength of Mo–H bonds.

BACKGROUND Influenza in children is a major cause of morbidity and mortality *** system diseases are a factor relating to increased mortality ***, reports of how these underlying diseases contribute to the death of children with influenza are *** SUMMARY A 4-year-old-girl developed type A influenza-related encephalopathy(IAE) with seizures, acute disorder of consciousness, and intracranial hypertension(cerebrospinal fluid pressure: 250 mm H2O), and the Dandy-Walker variant was found by her first magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) when admission. Three days later, she suddenly presented anisocoria, acute pulmonary edema, and coma, and the later MRI found that she had compressed brainstem, oblongata "Zlike folding", and swelling bilateral basal ganglia. After admission, the patient were tested for routine and special biomarkers and underwent neuroimaging and neuroelectrophysiology examinations as well as Oseltamivir and intravenous immunogloblin treatments. When predicting that unstable intracranial structures detected by MRI might have disastrous consequences in the progression of IAE,she was transferred into the pediatric intensive care unit and underwent continuous assessment of clinical condition while she did not have instability of basic vital signs;at the same time, her parents were fully informed about the risk and prognosis. Although she was ultimately dead from brain stem failure, the parents expressed understanding and did not trigger a doctor-patient *** In case of finding an unstable intracranial structure, intensive care should be given to IAE patient and their clinical condition should be monitored continuously.

The configuration and quality of reinforcements, as well as the robustness of interfacial bonding,holding a critical significance in determining the concurrence between electrical conductivity and mechanical strength in metal matrix composites. In this study, citric acid was employed as the precursor for synthesizing multiscale carbon nanomaterials(graphene quantum dots and graphene, abbreviated as GQDs and GN). The GQDs@GN/Cu composites were fabricated through a segmented ball milling process in conjunction with subsequent spark plasma sintering(SPS). The intragranular GQDs and intergranular GQDs@GN had synergistically reinforced Cu composites through Orowan strengthening, load transfer strengthening and refinement strengthening. Furthermore,the robust interface bonding between GQDs@GN and Cu effectively mitigated interfacial impedance stemming from electron-boundary scattering. The yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the GQDs@GN/Cu composites were recorded as 270 and 314 MPa, respectively, representing an improvement of 92 and 28% over pure Cu, while maintaining electrical conductivity at a level comparable to that of pure Cu. This study advances the understanding of the possibility of realizing a synergistic compatibility between electrical conductivity and mechanical strength in Cu composites.

Lateral intakes are common in *** pump effciency and sediment deposition are determined by the local hydrodynamic characteristics and mainstream division *** hydraulic characteristics of lateral withdrawal from inclined river slopes at different intake elevations should be ***,the division width exhibits significant vertical non-uniformity at an inclined river slope,which should be ***,a three-dimensional(3-D)hydrodynamic and particle-tracking model was developed with the Open Source Field Operation and Manipulation(Open FOAM),and the model was validated with physical model tests for 90°lateral withdrawal from an inclined side *** flow fields,withdrawal sources,and division widths were investigated with different intake bottom elevations,withdrawal discharges,and main channel *** study showed that under inclined side bank conditions,water entered the intake at an oblique angle,causing significant 3-D spiral flows in the intake rather than two-dimensional closed recirculation.A lower withdrawal discharge,a lower bottom elevation of the intake,or a higher main channel velocity could further strengthen this *** average division width and turbulent kinetic energy were smaller under inclined side bank conditions than under vertical bank *** a low intake bottom elevation,a low withdrawal discharge,or a high main channel velocity,the sources of lateral withdrawal were in similar ranges near the local inclined bank in the vertical *** inclined slope conditions,sediment deposition near the intake entrance could be reduced,compared to that under vertical slope *** results provide hydrodynamic and sediment references for engineering designs for natural rivers with inclined terrains.

Clinical Features and Treatment of Bronchogenic Cyst in Adults

Objective To investigate the clinical features and management of bronchogenic cyst in the adults. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 50 patients admitted to our hospital with histopathologically proved bronchogenic cyst from January 1983 to December 2007. Of all the patients, 28 were male and 22 were female, with an average age of 36.9 (range, 18 to 64) years. The symptoms, location of the cysts, imaging evaluation, surgical treatment manner, and outcome of these patients were analyzed. Results Symptoms were present in 33 of the 50 patients, and cough was the most common symptom. Thirteen patients presented with complications: hemoptysis, infected cyst, dysphagia, paralysis, and hoarseness. The locations of the cysts included the mediastinum (28 cases), pulmonary parenchyma (12 cases), hilar area (3 cases), visceral pleura (1 case), and some rare locations including the intestinal mesentery (1 case), retroperitoneum (1 case), adrenal gland (1 case), neck (2 cases), and dura matter of the cervical verte-brae (1 case). Chest X-ray was performed in 36 patients and computed tomography (CT) was performed in 41 patients. The bronchogenic cyst in CT was characterized as a round, well circumscribed, unilocular mass, with density ranging from that of water to high density (0-50 Hu). As for treatment, complete resection of the bronchogenic cyst was performed in 47 (94%) patients, subtotal resection was performed in 3 (6%) patients. Open surgery was performed in 45 (90%) patients, and thoracoscopy (video-assisted thoracic surgery) was performed in 5 (10%) paitients. Of the 12 patients with intrapulmonary cyst, 11 patients underwent lobectomy and 1 patient underwent wedge resection. Postoperative sequelae occurred in 2 patients, 1 with persistent air leakage and 1 with hoarseness. All patients were proved with bronchogenic cyst pathologically. Objective To evaluate the clinical features,diagnosis,treatment,and outcome of intralobar pulmonary sequestration (ILS). Methods Patients who were diagnosed with ILS in our hospital between January 1988 and January 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. We recorded the clinical symptoms,imaging findings,operative technique,complications,and outcome of these patients. Results Forty-seven patients (25 men and 22 women) with an average age of 32.3 years were enrolled. Forty-two patients had symptoms including cough and hemoptysis. Chest X-ray,computed tomography (CT),magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),and angiography were performed. Thoracotomy was performed in 45 patients,while thoracoscopy was performed in 2 patients. Lobectomy was the most common treatment procedure. Massive bleeding developed in 2 patients due to injury of aberrant supplying artery intraoperatively,1 patient had atrial fibrillation,1 patient had thrombosis of upper extremity postoperatively. All patients were confirmed the diagnosis pathologically,4 accompanied with bronchogenic cyst,15 with bronchiectasis,8 with infection,2 with aspergilloma,and 1 with carcinoid. No late complications occurred. Conclusions ILS is rare,surgery is recommended because some patients may have potential severe complications. Contrast enhanced CT and three-dimensional reconstruction is the best diagnostic method. Both thoracotomy and thoracoscopy are appropriate for the selected candidates.

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(SH),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,SH and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,SH,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(p<0.05)from 1950 to 2020 at-0.32×10^(6),-0.22×10^(6),and-0.54×10^(6)km^(2)per decade,*** FFP prolongation in the NH is mainly influenced by LFD advance,while in the SH it is mainly controlled by FFD *** prolongation trend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the SH(1.15 d per decade).
