Using data of tropical cyclones making landfall in China between May and October each year during the1951-2015 period from the Shanghai Typhoon Institute, China Meteorological Administration(CMA-STI) Tropical Cyclone(TC) Best Track Dataset, we developed a method of rapid classification of TC tracks based on their average movement velocities and noted three types of tracks: a westward type, a northwestward type, and a northward type. We compared the climate characteristics of the westward and northward types and discuss their corresponding causes. The results show that the westward and northward types account for more than 80% of all TCs making landfall in *** climate characteristics, such as the frequency, landfall intensity, duration over land, velocity over land, movement distance over land, and other changes, show both similarities and differences. Both TC types show significant increases in their over-land durations, indicating that the effects of these landfalling TCs are increasing. However, the causes of these two TC types are similar and different in certain respects. The changes in large-scale steering flows have significantly affected the frequencies and over-land velocities of the landfalling TCs of the westward and northward types. In addition, differences between the changes in formation locations of the westward and northward types may lead to significant difference in their landfall intensities.

The stress and gas pressure in deep coal seams are very high,and instability and failure rapidly and intensely *** is important to study the infrared precursor characteristics of gas-bearing coal instability and *** this paper,a self-developed stress-gas coupling failure infrared experimental system was used to analyse the infrared radiation temperature(IRT)and infrared thermal image precursor characteristics of gas-free coal and gas-bearing *** changes in the areas of the infrared temperature anomalous precursor regions and the effect of the gas on the infrared precursors were *** results show that high-temperature anomalous precursors arise mainly when the gas-free coal fails under loading,whereas the gas-bearing coal has high-temperature and low-temperature anomalous *** area of the high-temperature anomalous precursor is approximately 30%–40%under gasbearing coal unstable failure,which is lower than the 60%–70%of the gas-free *** area of the low-temperature abnormal precursor is approximately 3%–6%,which is higher than the 1%–2%of the gas-free *** increasing gas pressure,the area of the high-temperature anomalous precursor gradually decreases,and the area of the low-temperature anomalous precursor gradually *** highand low-temperature anomalous precursors of gas-bearing coal are mainly caused by gas desorption,volume expansion,and thermal *** presence of gas inhibits the increase in IRT on the coal surface and increases the difficulty of infrared radiation(IR)monitoring and early warning for gas-bearing coal.

Alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.)is one of the most important and widely cultivated forage *** is commonly used as a vegetable and medicinal herb because of its excellent nutritional quality and significant economic *** on Illumina,Nanopore and Hi-C data,we assembled a chromosome-scale assembly of Medicago sativa ***(voucher PI464715),the direct diploid progenitor of autotetraploid *** assembled genome comprises 793.2 Mb of genomic sequence and 47,202 annotated protein-coding *** contig N50 length is 3.86 *** genome is almost twofold larger and contains more annotated protein-coding genes than that of its close relative,Medicago truncatula(420 Mb and 44,623 genes).The more expanded gene families compared with those in *** and the expansion of repetitive elements rather than whole-genome duplication(i.e.,the two species share the ancestral Papilionoideae whole-genome duplication event)may have contributed to the large genome size of *** *** and evolutionary analyses revealed that *** *** diverged from ***~5.2 million years ago,and the chromosomal fissions and fusions detected between the two genomes occurred during the divergence of the two *** addition,we identified 489 resistance(R)genes and 82 and 85 candidate genes involved in the lignin and cellulose biosynthesis pathways,*** near-complete and accurate diploid alfalfa reference genome obtained herein serves as an important complement to the recently assembled autotetraploid alfalfa genome and will provide valuable genomic resources for investigating the genomic architecture of autotetraploid alfalfa as well as for improving breeding strategies in alfalfa.

Thermodynamic insights into n-alkanes phase change materials for thermal energy storage

n-Alkanes have been widely used as phase change materials(PCMs) for thermal energy storage applications because of their exceptional phase transition performance, high chemical stability, long term cyclic stability and non-toxicity. However, the thermodynamic properties, especially heat capacity, of n-alkanes have rarely been comprehensively investigated in a wide temperature range, which would be insufficient for design and utilization of n-alkanes-based thermal energy storage techniques. In this study, the thermal properties of n-alkanes(C;H;-C;H;), such as thermal stability, thermal conductivity, phase transition temperature and enthalpy were systematically studied by different thermal analysis and calorimetry methods, and compared with previous results. Thermodynamic property of these n-alkanes was studied in a wide temperature range from 1.9 K to 370 K using a combined relaxation(Physical Property Measurement System, PPMS), differential scanning and adiabatic calorimetry method, and the corresponding thermodynamic functions, such as entropy and enthalpy, were calculated based on the heat capacity curve fitting. Most importantly, the heat capacities and related thermodynamic functions of n-heneicosane and n-docosane were reported for the first time in this work, as far as we know. This research work would provide accurate and reliable thermodynamic properties for further study of n-alkanes-based PCMs for thermal energy storage applications.

The complexes of four ferrocenylaldehyde aroylhydrazones with lead(Ⅱ) were synthesized and characterized. Their compositions, bonding forms and properties were researched by means of elemental analysis, IR, UV Vis, 1H NMR spectra, thermal analysis and molar conductance. The free ligands which existed in the keto form coordinated to lead(Ⅱ) in the enol form to form neutral complexes. The molar ratio of the ligand to lead(Ⅱ) is 2∶1 and the thermal stability of the complex is higher than that of the corresponding ligand because of the formation of the stable chelate ring. The ligands and the complexes are all non electrolytes.

Precise modulation of the magnetic anisotropy of metal ions remains highly important for the development of high–performance single-molecule magnets(SMMs).We herein reported the synthetic,structural,spectral,magnetic,and computational studies on four mononuclear Co^(Ⅱ) complexes in a distorted octahedral *** change of the organosulfonate anions triggers significant modification of the distorted octahedral CoN6 coordination sphere,which enables us to tackle the influence of the structural distortion on the magnetic anisotropy in these *** measurements revealed that the four complexes possess easy–plane magnetic anisotropy with large and positive zero-field splitting parameters,which decrease with the increasing distortion of the pseudo–octahedral Co^(Ⅱ) coordination *** correlation was further confirmed by high–frequency/–field EPR(HF–EPR)spectra and theoretical *** magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that these complexes both exhibit slow magnetic relaxation under an external dc field,indicating the field-induced single-ion magnets(SIMs)of the four *** results indicate that structural distortion plays an important role in the magnetic anisotropy of CoⅡcomplexes and should be carefully considered in the design of molecular complexes with high magnetic anisotropy.
