The unexpected scaling phenomena have resulted in significant damages to the oil and gas industries,leading to issues such as heat exchanger failures and pipeline clogging. It is of practical and fundamental importance to understand the scaling mechanisms and develop efficient anti-scaling strategies. However,the underlying surface interaction mechanisms of scalants(e.g., calcite) with various substrates are still not fully understood. In this work, the colloidal probe atomic force microscopy(AFM) technique has been applied to directly quantify the surface forces between calcite particles and different metallic substrates,including carbon steel(CR1018), low alloy steel(4140), stainless steel(SS304) and tungsten carbide,under different water chemistries(i.e., salinity and p H). Measured force profiles revealed that the attractive van der Waals(VDW) interaction contributed to the attachment of the calcium carbonate particles on substrate surfaces, while the repulsive electric double layer(EDL) interactions could inhibit the attachment behaviors. High salinity and acidic p H conditions of aqueous solutions could weaken the EDL repulsion and promote the attachment behavior. The adhesion of calcite particles with CR1018 and4140 substrates was much stronger than that with SS304 and tungsten carbide substrates. The bulk scaling tests in aqueous solutions from an industrial oil production process showed that much more severe scaling behaviors of calcite was detected on CR1018 and 4140 than those on SS304 and tungsten carbide, which agreed with surface force measurement results. Besides, high salinity and acidic p H can significantly enhance the scaling phenomena. This work provides fundamental insights into the scaling mechanisms of calcite at the nanoscale with practical implications for the selection of suitable antiscaling materials in petroleum industries.

The Prydz Belt in East Antarctica underwent extensive reworking during the late Neoprotertozoic–early Paleozoic pan-African orogeny,which is characterized by granulite facies,clockwise P–T paths,and high dT/dP *** study compiles the existing age and composition data of zircon and monazite from metamorphic rocks and links their key characteristics to the metamorphic evolution of the Prydz *** frequency of zircon U–Pb ages starts to increase noticeably from~555 Ma,peaking between 530 Ma and 520 Ma,followed by a dramatic decline after 520 *** Th/U values(>0.1)of zircon are observed from~545 Ma,displaying a noticeable increasing trend in Th/U values before a rapid decline from~520 *** frequency of monazite ages progressively increases from~540 Ma,reaching its peak at 515 Ma,and then rapidly decreases after 490 *** with the crystallization behaviors of zircon and monazite,this study suggests that the systematic changes in Th/U values of zircon after 545 Ma indicate a transition in the thermal regime of the Prydz Belt towards the cooling *** growth of zircon and monazite corresponds to the post-peak cooling process,while the crystallization peak of monazite lags behind that of zircon by~5–15 Ma,which indicates a relatively low cooling *** the granitic intrusions accompanied the entire metamorphic evolution,the majority of them are younger than 520 *** results suggest that the pan-African event likely peaked at~555–545 Ma and gradually cooled to near-solidus conditions at~520–510 Ma,with a relatively slow average cooling process.

Metal-halide perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)have gained significant attention in the field of optoelectronic and photonic devices due to their promising *** their exceptional optical properties,the impact of different synthetic strategies on the fundamental nature of NCs,such as nonradiative recombination centers,remains poorly *** this study,we investigated the photophysical properties of CsPbBr_(3) NCs synthesized using two distinct methods,hot injection and ligand-assisted reprecipitation,at the individual particle *** observed different blinking behaviors under specific photoexcitation power densities and proposed,through intensity-lifetime analysis and Monte-Carlo simulations,that these different synthetic strategies can fabricate NCs with similar crystal structures but distinct surface quenchers with varying energy levels,which significantly affected the photo-induced blinking-down and blinking-up behaviors in individual *** findings indicate a practical and feasible approach for controlling defect engineering in perovskite NCs,with significant implications for their use in optoelectronic and other technological applications.

Red wine has a good potential for alleviating atherosclerosis， but the mechanisms related to hepatointestinal circulation remain to be elucidated. This study showed that administration of a high-polyphenol red wine (16 mL/kg/day) for 16 weeks significantly reduced the atherosclerotic lesion in high-fat diet-fed ApoE-/-mice. The total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels of plasma were lowered by 11.54% and 18.98%. The pro-inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) levels were decreased by 27.59% and 31.92%. Red wine also reduced triglyceride (TG) level and lipid deposition in the liver， and increased the concentration of total bile acids (TBA). Untargeted metabolomics analysis indicated that red wine modulated the disorder of liver metabolism by regulating sphingolipid signaling pathway， sphingolipid metabolism， glycerophosphlipid metabolism， choline metabolism and bile secretion. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that red wine increased the abundance of Akkermansia and Bifidobacterium and reduced the abundance of Mucispirillum， Romboutsia， Lactobacillu， Bilophila and Blautia， along with the increased concentrations of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in feces. These findings indicated that red wine could exert anti-atherosclerotic effect by regulating gut microbiota， restoring SCFAs， alleviating liver metabolic disorders.
