Evaluation of dry eye disease symptomatology and mental health status among patients with different COVID-19 statuses

AIM:To evaluate dry eye disease(DED)symptomatology and mental health status in different COVID-19 ***:A cross-sectional observational design was *** 123 eligible adults(46.34%of men,age range,18-59y)with COVID-19 included in the study from August to November,*** Surface Disease Index(OSDI),Five-item Dry Eye Questionnaire(DEQ-5),Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS),and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were used in this ***:OSDI scores were 6.82(1.25,15.91)in asymptomatic carriers,7.35(2.50,18.38)in mild cases,and 16.67(4.43,28.04)in recurrent cases,with 30.00%,35.56%,and 57.89%,respectively evaluated as having DED symptoms(χ2=7.049,P=0.029).DEQ-5 score varied from 2.00(0,6.00)in asymptomatic carriers,3.00(0,8.00)in mild cases,and 8.00(5.00,10.00)in recurrent cases,with 27.50%,33.33%,and 55.26%,respectively assessed as having DED symptoms(χ2=8.532,P=0.014).The prevalence of clinical anxiety(50.00%)and depression(47.37%)symptoms were also significantly higher in patients with recurrent infection(χ2=24.541,P30.871,Pent infection was a risk factor for high OSDI scores[odds ratio,2.562;95%confidence interval(CI),1.631-7.979;P=0.033]and DEQ-5 scores(odds ratio,3.353;95%CI,1.038-8.834;P=0.043),whereas having a fixed occupation was a protective factor for OSDI scores(odds ratio,0.088;95%CI,0.022-0.360;P=0.001)and DEQ-5 scores(odds ratio,0.126;95%CI,0.039-0.405;P=0.001).CONCLUSION:Patients with recurrent COVID-19 have more severe symptoms of DED,anxiety,and depression.

The Ninety East Ridge in the Indian Ocean has complex and unique *** concentrations and distribution characteristics of 10 trace metals(V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Cd,Pb,and U)in seawater from the Ninety East Ridge in the Indian Ocean were *** show that the average concentrations of different trace metals in all the collected seawater samples were 1.134μg/L for V,0.158μg/L for Cr,0.489μg/L for Mn,0.427μg/L for Fe,0.011μg/L for Co,0.395μg/L for Ni,0.403μg/L for Cu,0.097μg/L for Cd,0.139μg/L for Pb,and 3.470μg/L for *** in the horizontal and vertical distributions of all measured trace metals were revealed,and the occurrence of high concentrations was *** addition,the significant differences in the concentration distribution of different trace metals in seawater on both sides of the Ninety East Ridge present regional segmentation in the area for various trace metals in deep sea *** study provided basic data for future investigations on the environmental and ecological impact of trace metals in the Indian Ocean and the potential water mass transport mechanism.

BACKGROUND Rectocutaneous fistulae are *** infection originates within the anal glands and subsequently extends into adjacent regions,ultimately resulting in fistula *** angiofibroma(CAF),also known as an angiomy ofibroblastoma-like tumor,is a rare benign soft tissue neoplasm predominantly observed in the scrotum,perineum,and inguinal area in males and in the vulva in *** describe the first documented case CAF that developed within a rectocutaneous fistula and manifested as a perineal *** SUMMARY In the outpatient setting,a 52-year-old male patient presented with a 2-year history of a growing perineal mass,accompanied by throbbing pain and minor scrotal *** examination revealed a soft,well-defined,non-tender mass at the left buttock that extended towards the perineum,without a visible *** initial assessment identified a soft tissue tumor,and the laboratory data were within normal *** and pelvic computed tomography(CT)revealed swelling of the abscess cavity that was linked to a rectal cutaneous fistula,with a track-like lesion measuring 6 cm×0.7 cm in the left perineal region and attached to the left *** examination found no significant inner orifices.A left medial gluteal incision revealed a thick-walled mass,which was excised along with the extending tract,and curettage was *** examination confirmed CAF *** patient achieved total resolution during follow-up assessments and did not require additional *** CT imaging supports perineal lesion diagnosis and *** angiofibromas,even with a cutaneous fistula,can be excised transperineally.

Investigation of wake-induced vibration interference between two staggered wave-cone cylinders at subcritical Reynolds number

The wake induced vibration(WIV)of a one-and two-degree-of-freedom(1DOF,2DOF)downstream wave-cone cylinder(WCC)behind a stationary equal-size upstream wave-cone cylinder in the staggered arrangement is numerically investigated at subcritical Reynolds number of 3900 by using shear stressed transfer(SST)k-ωturbulence *** streamwise pitch ratios(P/Dm)vary from 4 to 6 with a fixed incident angleα=8°.Experimental measurements were also performed for the validation of the present numerical *** is found that the largest vibration amplitude in crossflow direction occurred at P/Dm=4,Ur=8 with small difference of streamwise vibration at P/Dm=4,*** from single wavy-cone cylinder(SWCC),the downstream flexible one of a pair staggered WCCs got larger vibration amplitude during phase switching stage instead of in-phase *** upstream wake will suppress the triple frequency of main frequency in the power spectra density(PSD)functions of Cl but stimulate the double one of *** intriguing vibration mechanism happened in all 2DOF cases where the trajectory of downstream WCC is a significant ellipse rather than a figure of *** transformation of phase switching and the variation of the main frequency of drag coefficient(Cd)can be explained by the vortex-shedding modes of downstream WCC.

Maternal weight and its association with risk of overweight in offspring:a trajectory analysis from a birth cohort in China

Background Most studies on the association of maternal pregnancy weight with offspring weight trajectory have a short follow-up *** study aimed to explore the associations of maternal prepregnancy body mass index(BMI)and gestational weight gain(GWG)with childhood weight trajectories in a 7-year birth *** A total of 946 mother–child pairs(467 boys and 479 girls)from a longitudinal birth cohort in Tianjin City,China,were included in this study,ranging from pregnancy to offspring at 7 *** outcome variable was defined as overweight or not overweight in offspring at the last round.A group-based trajectory model was applied to identify childhood BMI trajectory *** Five discrete BMI trajectory groups were identified and characterized as constant underweight(25.2%),constant normal weight(42.8%),and high or increasing trajectory[at risk of overweight(16.9%),progressive overweight(11.0%)and progressive obesity(4.1%)].Maternal prepregnancy overweight was associated with 1.72(95%CI 1.14–2.60,P=0.01)to 4.02(95%CI 1.94–8.36,Pweight[relative risk ratio(RRR)2.09,95%CI 1.27–3.46,P=0.004]and progressive obesity(RRR 3.33,95%CI 1.13–9.79,P=0.029).Children in all high or increasing trajectory groups were associated with greater overweight risk at the last round[risk ratios(RRs)ranged from 3.54(95%CI 2.53–4.95,Pweight and excessive gestational weight gain were associated with increasing or high-level childhood body mass index trajectories as well as a greater risk of overweight at 7 years.
