Two exact first-order k-space formulations for low-rank viscoacoustic wave propagation on staggered grids

Wave propagation in the viscoacoustic media is physically dispersive and *** excluding the numerical dispersion error from the physical dispersion in the viscoacoustic wave simu-lation is indispensable to understanding the intrinsic property of the wave propagation in attenuated media for the petroleum exploration *** recent years,a viscoacoustic wave equation char-acterized by fractional Laplacian gains wide attention in geophysical ***,the first-order form of the viscoacoustic wave equation,often solved by the conventional staggered-grid pseu-dospectral method,suffers from the numerical dispersion error in time due to the low-order finite-difference *** is challenging to completely eliminate the error because the viscoacoustic wave equation contains two temporal derivatives,which stem from the time stepping and the amplitude attenuation terms,*** tackle the issue,we derive two exact first-order k-space viscoacoustic formulations that can fully exclude the numerical error from the physical *** the homoge-neous case,two formulations agree with the viscoacoustic analytical solution very well and have the same *** the heterogeneous case,our second k-space formulation is more efficient than the first one because the second formulation significantly reduces the number of the wavenumber-space mixed-domain operators,which are the expensive part of the viscoacoustic k-space ***-merical cases validate that the two first-order k-space formulations are effective and efficient alternatives to the current staggered-grid pseudospectral formulation for the viscoacoustic wave simulation.

Current development of the second generation of mTOR inhibitors as anticancer agents

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a serine/threonine protein kinase, acts as a "master switch" for cellular anabolic and catabolic processes, regulating the rate of cell growth and proliferation. Dysregulation of the mTOR signaling pathway occurs frequently in a variety of human tumors, and thus, mTOR has emerged as an important target for the design of anticancer agents. mTOR is found in two distinct multiprotein complexes within cells, mTORC1 and mTORC2. These two complexes consist of unique mTOR-interacting proteins and are regulated by different mechanisms. Enormous advances have been made in the development of drugs known as mTOR inhibitors. Rapamycin, the first defined inhibitor of mTOR, showed effectiveness as an anticancer agent in various preclinical models. Rapamycin analogues (rapalogs) with better pharmacologic properties have been developed. However, the clinical success of rapalogs has been limited to a few types of cancer. The discovery that mTORC2 directly phosphorylates Akt, an important survival kinase, adds new insight into the role of mTORC2 in cancer. This novel finding prompted efforts to develop the second generation of mTOR inhibitors that are able to target both mTORC1 and mTORC2. Here, we review the recent advances in the mTOR field and focus specifically on the current development of the second generation of mTOR inhibitors as anticancer agents.

The saproxylic beetle assemblage associated with different host trees in Southwest China

Dead wood is a habitat for many insects and other small animals, some of which may be rare or endangered and in need of effective protection. In this paper, saproxylic beetle assemblages associated with different host trees in the subtropical forests in southwestern China were investigated. A total of 277 species （1 439 specimens） in 36 beetle families were collected from 117 dead wood samples, of which 101 samples were identified and respectively belonged to 12 tree genera. The number of saproxylic beetle species varied greatly among logs of different tree genera, with the highest diversity on logs of Juglans. Generally, broad-leaved trees had a higher richness and abundance of saproxylic species than coniferous trees. Cluster analysis revealed that assemblages from broad-leaved tree genera were generally similar （except for Betula） and assemblages from coniferous trees formed another distinct cluster. The subsequent indicator analysis proposed that there are different characteristic species for different cluster groups of host tree genera. In our study, log diameter has no positive influence on beetle species density. Conversely, comparisons of individual-based rarefaction curves suggested that beetle species richness was highest in the small diameter class both in coniferous and broad-leaved tree genera. With increased wood decay, proportion of habitat specialists （saproxylic beetles living on one tree genus） decreased, whereas proportion of habitat generalists （living on more than three tree genera） increased. The beetle species density was found to be higher in early stages, and decreased in later stages as well. A negative influence of altitude on saproxylic beetle species richness and abundance was detected. It was indicated that different tree genera and altitudes possibly display cross effects in modulating the altitudinal distribution and host preference of the beetles.

A rate adaptive multi-band ultra-wideband (UWB) system based on the quadrature fractal modulation (QFM) scheme was *** the use of homogeneous signals as modulating waveforms in UWB system,the signal within each 528MHz sub-band was divided into 8 different frequency bandwidths using wavelets transform and these data sequences to be transmitted were embedded into homogeneous *** is found that the use of homogeneous signals in such UWB system is quite feasible,leadings to a novel multi-rate diversity *** each 528MHz sub-band,the UWB-QFM system can provide much higher data rates than that of the UWB orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) *** results also show that the bit error rate (BER) performance of the UWB-QFM system achieves a greatly improvement over existing UWB-OFDM *** to the fractal properties of the homogeneous signals,these data sequences to be transmitted can be recovered using arbitrarily short receiver signal.

Effects of CpG-ODNs on phenotype and function of monocyte-derived dendritic cells in chronic hepatitis B

AIM:To study the effects of synthetic nonmethylated CpG-containing oligodeoxynucleotides(CpG-ODNs) ,either alone or combined with recombinant Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) polypeptide,on the phenotype,function,and intracellular signaling pathways of monocyte-derived dendritic cells(DCs) in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB) .METHODS:Peripheral blood monocytes isolated from CHB patients and healthy volunteers were induced to be dendritic cells by recombinant human granulocyte-monocyte colony stimulating factor and *** DCs were then treated with CpG-ODNs,CpGODNs/HBsAg,or tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αfor 18 *** expression of surface molecules including HLA-DR,CD86,and CD1a in DCs were detected by flow cytometry,and the expression of signal transducers and activators of transcription(STAT1,3,4,5,6) and suppressors of cell signaling(SOCS1,3) were determined by Western blotting *** addition,the capacity of DCs to stimulate allogeneic T lymphocytes and the amount of IL-12p70 released from DCs were ***:In the DCs derived from patients with CHB,treatment with TNF-α,CpG-ODNs,or CpG-ODNs/HBsAg,as compared to the vector control,significantly increased the expression of HLA-DR,stimulated the release of IL-12p70,and enhanced the capacity of DCs to stimulate allogenic T *** expressions of STAT1/4/6 and SOCS1/3,but not STAT3/5,were upregulated by TNF-α,CpG-ODNs,and CpG-ODNs/*** addition,the expression of CD1a was upregulated only in the presence of both CpG-ODNs and ***:The treatment with CpG-ODNs,either alone or combined with HBsAg,has a remarkable stimulatory effect on the impaired phenotype and function of DCs in CHB,possibly by regulating the expression of STAT1,4,6 and SOCS1,3.

11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 （11β-HSD1） and type 2 （11β-HSD2） are expressed in rat testis, where they regulate the local concentrations of glucocorticoids. Here, we investigated the expression and localization of 11β-HSD in rat testis during postnatal development, and the regulation of these genes by luteinizing hormone （LH） and androgens, mRNA and protein levels were analyzed by quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction and western blotting, respectively, in testes collected from rats at postnatal day （PND） 7, 14, 21, 35, and 90, and from rats treated with LH, 7α.methyl-19-nortestosterone （MENT） and testosterone at PND 21 and PND 90. Immunohistochemical staining was used to identify the localization of the 11β-HSD in rat testis at PND 7, 14, and 90. We found that 11β-HSD1 expression was restricted to the interstitial areas, and that its levels increased during rat testis development. In contrast, whereas 11β-HSD2 was expressed in both the interstitial areas and seminiferous tubules at PND 7, it was present only in the interstitial areas at PND 90, and its levels declined during testicular development. Moreover, 11β-HSD1 mRNA was induced by LH in both the PND 21 and 90 testes and by MENT at PND 21, whereas 11β-HSD2 mRNA was induced by testosterone and MENT in the PND 21 testis and by LH in the PND 90 testis. In conclusion, our study indicates that the 11β-HSD1 and 11β-HSD2 genes have distinct patterns of spatiotemporal expression and hormonal regulation during postnatal development of the rat testis.

Bibliometric profile of neurogenic bladder in the literature:a 20-year bibliometric analysis

Neurogenic bladder is a dysfunction of the lower urinary tract caused by nervous system disor- der. We investigated the trends in publication of articles under the topic ＂neurogenic bladder＂ using bibliometric analysis. Articles on neurogenic bladder, published between 1995 and 2014, were retrieved from the ISI Web of Science citation database. We analyzed the search results for authors, countries, institutions, journals, and top-cited papers. A total of 1,904 articles were re- trieved. There was a small increase in the number of articles on neurogenic bladder from 1995 （n = 43） to 2014 （n = 117）. The USA was the leading country in the total number of articles （n = 598）. However, the number of publications from China has rapidly increased, and China was ranked second in 2014. Emmanuel Chartier-Kastler （n = 65） was the most productive author, and University of Paris VI （Paris 6）（n = 61） was the most productive institution. The Journal of Urology published the greatest number of artides on this topic （n = 285）. Articles on neurogenic bladder were often published in a professional journal under the category Urology ＆ Nephrology, Neurosciences ＆ Neurology, or Rehabilitation. Visualization analysis based on co-citation networks was conducted using CiteSpace III. Visualization analysis revealed that the hot spots in neurogenic bladder were botulinum toxin-A, prazosin, bethanechol, and afferent pathways. These findings provide new insight into the publication trends and hot spots in neurogenic bladder.

High-Order-Harmonic Generation from a Relativistic Circularly Polarized Laser Interacting with Over-Dense Plasma Grating

The simple surface current model is extended to study the generation of high-order harmonics for a relativistic circularly polarized laser pulse interacting with a plasma grating surface. Both exact relativistic electron dynamics and optical interference of surface periodic structure are considered. It is found that high order harmonics in the specular direction are obviously suppressed whereas the harmonics of the grating periodicity are strongly enhanced and folded into small solid angles with respect to the surface direction. The conversion efficiency of certain harmonics is five orders of magnitude higher than that of the planar target cases. It provides an effective approach to generate a coherent radiation within the so-called ＇water window＇ while maintaining high conversion efficiency and narrow angle spread.

High-efficiency sodium storage of Co_(0.85)Se/WSe_(2) encapsulated in N-doped carbon polyhedron via vacancy and heterojunction engineering
