Peroxiredoxins（Prxs） are a large family of antioxidant enzymes of various types that take part in signal transduction via decomposing reactive oxygen species（ROS）. Although extensive efforts have been made over the last decades in understanding the structures and functions of Prxs, type II Prxs in monocots are hardly studied. In this work, a monocot type II Prx gene homologue from Chinese wildrye（Leymus Chinensis）, designated as LcTpxII, was isolated and characterized. LcTpxII encoding a 162-amino acid protein contains a thioredoxin domain and a cysteine residue at position 51, suggesting that it is a member of the Prxs family. The LcTpxII is capable of decomposing H2O2 and protecting plasmid DNA from damage caused by ROS. The expression of LcTpxII in Chinese wildrye was induced by 400 mmol/L NaCl and 100 mmol/L Na2CO3 in the experiment. The overexpression of LcTpxII enhances the tolerance of transgenic yeast to 1.6 mol/L NaCl and 10 mmol/L Na2CO3.

Suprapubic cystostomy versus nonsuprapubic cystostomy during monopolar transurethral resection of prostate： a propensity score-matched analysis

We aim to reassess the safety of the monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate （M-TURP） without suprapubic cystostomy at our institution over the past decade. This retrospective study was conducted in patients who underwent M-TURP at Peking University First Hospital between 2003 and 2013. A total of 1680 patients who had undergone M-TURP were identified, including 539 patients in the noncystostomy group and 1141 patients in the cystostomy group. After propensity score matching, the number of patients in each group was 456. Smaller reductions in hemoglobin and hematocrit （10.9 g vs 17.6 g and 3.6% vs 4.7%, respectively） were found in the noncystostomy group. In addition, patients undergoing surgery without cystostomy had their catheters removed earlier （4.6 days vs 5.2 days）, required shorter postoperative stays in the hospital （5.1 days vs 6.0 days）, and were at lower risk of operative complications （5.7% vs 9.2%）, especially bleeding requiring blood transfusion （2.9% vs 6.1%）. Similar findings were observed in cohorts of prostates of 30-80 ml and prostates 〉80 ml. Furthermore, among patients with a resection weight 〉42.5 g or surgical time 〉90 min, or even propensity-matched patients based on surgical time, those with cystostomy seemed to be at a higher risk of operative complications. These results suggest that M-TURP without suprapubic cystostomy is a safe and effective method, even among patients with larger prostates, heavier estimated resection weights, and longer surgical times.

Bupleurum polysaccharides(BPs)is isolated from Bupleurum smithii ***,a key traditional Chinese *** study was to investigate the effects of BPs on diabetic kidney *** two intraperitoneal injections of streptozotozin(STZ)100 mg·kg^–1,renal injury in diabetic mice was induced and BPs was orally administrated at dosages of 30 and 60 mg·kg^–1·d^–*** STZ injected mice developed renal function damage,renal inflammation and fibrosis known as diabetic kidney disease(DKD).BPs significantly reduced serum creatinine level and urinary albumin excretion rate,with the attenuated swelling of *** treatment obviously alleviated the pathological damage of renal *** progression of renal injury in BPs treated mice was inhibited with less expression of type IV collagen(Col IV),fibronectin(FN)andα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA).The inhibition of inflammation in kidney was associated with the reduced level of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6).BPs administration suppressed the over-expression of toll like receptor 4(TLR4)and high-mobility group box 1(HMGB1)with lowered activity of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)in renal tissue of diabetic *** administration of BPs effectively prevented the development of renal injury in diabetic *** study suggested that the protection provided by BPs might affect through the interruption of HMGB1-TLR4 pathway,leading to the inhibition of renal inflammation and fibrotic process.

This study aimed to develop a novel surgery classification for an endoscopic approach to middle ear *** retrospectively analyzed the surgical approaches and outcomes of patients with middle ear *** ear cholesteatoma surgeries were divided into four types and two special types as follows:type I,attic retraction pocket,which only requires tympanostomy tube placement or retraction pocket resection and cartilage reconstruction;typeⅡ,cholesteatoma which is limited to the attic or in which endoscopy can confirm complete removal of mastoid cholesteatoma lesions,including type Ⅱa,requiring only use of a curette,and type Ⅱ b,requiring use of an electric drill or chisel;type Ⅲ,cholesteatoma not limited to the attic,in which endoscopy cannot confirm complete removal of mastoid cholesteatoma lesions,requiring the combined use of endoscope and microscope to perform endoscopic tympanoplasty and"Canal Wall Up"mastoidectomy;type Ⅳ,extensive involvement of mastoid cavity cholesteatoma lesions and/or cases with a potential risk of complications,removal of which can only be performed under a microscope for"Canal Wall Down"*** addition,there were two special types:"difficult external auditory canal"and congenital cholesteatoma in *** our system,type I and type U middle ear cholesteatoma surgery was completely performed under an endoscope ***,estimating the extent of the lesions,determining the choice of mastoid opening and reestablishing ventilation are the key points for an endoscopic approach to middle ear *** classification of endoscopic middle ear cholesteatoma surgery may benefit the selection of surgical indications.

BACKGROUND Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide,with invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC)being the most prevalent *** node metastasis is the primary prognostic indicator,typically evaluated via biopsy of the ipsilateral sentinel or axillary lymph *** axillary metastasis(CAM)without ipsilateral involvement is exceedingly rare,particularly in early-stage breast *** report presents a case of CAM in a patient with triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC),underscoring diagnostic and therapeutic *** SUMMARY A 73-year-old female presented with left-sided early-stage IDC in February *** a modified radical mastectomy and pathologically negative ipsilateral lymph nodes,a postoperative positron emission tomography(PET)scan detected fluorodeoxyglucose-avid nodes in the contralateral *** confirmed metastatic ductal carcinoma with triple-negative status,resulting in an upstaged diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer,stage IV,*** patient underwent six cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy,with follow-up PET imaging showing regression of the contralateral *** case highlights the importance of advanced imaging in TNBC for precise staging and treatment *** This case highlights the aggressive nature of TNBC and the need for advanced imaging to ensure accurate staging and effective management.

Ongoing soil salinization drastically threatens crop growth,development,and yield *** is therefore crucial that we improve salt tolerance in rice by exploiting natural genetic ***,many salt-responsive genes confer undesirable phenotypes and therefore cannot be effectively applied to practical agricultural *** this study,we identified a quantitative trait locus for salt tolerance from the African rice species Oryza glaberrima and named it as Salt Tolerance and Heading Date 1(STH1).We found that STH1 regulates fatty acid metabolic homeostasis,probably by catalyzing the hydrolytic degradation of fatty acids,which contributes to salt ***,we demonstrated that STH1 forms a protein complex with D3 and a vital regulatory factor in salt tolerance,OsHAL3,to regulate the protein abundance of OsHAL3 via the 26S proteasome ***,we revealed that STH1 also serves as a co-activator with the floral integrator gene Heading date 1 to balance the expression of the florigen gene Heading date 3a under different circumstances,thus coordinating the regulation of salt tolerance and heading ***,the allele of STH1 associated with enhanced salt tolerance and high yield is found in some African rice accessions but barely in Asian *** of the STH1HP46 allele from African rice into modern rice cultivars is a desirable approach for boosting grain yield under salt ***,our discoveries not only provide conceptual advances on the mechanisms of salt tolerance and synergetic regulation between salt tolerance and flowering time but also offer potential strategies to overcome the challenges resulted from increasingly serious soil salinization that many crops are facing.

The phase conjugation between the deformable mirror and the wavefront sensor in the aberration correction of a terawatt Ti：sapphire laser is studied experimentally and theoretically in this paper. At varying values of phase- conjugation precision, we focus the corresponding beams into spots of the same size of 5.1 μm × 5.3 μm with a f/4 parabola in the 32 TW/36 fs Ti：sapphire laser system. The results show that the precision of conjugation can induce an intensity modulation but does not significantly affect the wavefront correction.

BACKGROUND Invasive breast carcinoma with osteoclast-like stromal giant cells(OGCs) is an extremely rare morphology of breast *** the best of our knowledge,the most recent case report describing this rare pathology was published six years *** mechanism controlling the development of this unique histological formation is still ***,the prognosis of patients with OGC involvement is also *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 48-year-old woman,who presented to the outpatient department with a palpable,growing,painless mass in her left breast for about one *** and mammography revealed a 26.5 mm ×18.8 mm asymmetric,lobular mass with circumscribed margin and the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System was category ***-guided aspiration biopsy revealed invasive ductal *** patient underwent breast conserving surgery and was diagnosed with invasive breast carcinoma with OGCs,grade Ⅱ,with intermediate grade of ductal carcinoma in situ(ER:80%,3+,PR:80%,3+,HER-2:negative,Ki 67:30%).Adjuvant chemotherapy and post-operation radiotherapy were initiated *** As a rare morphology of breast cancer,breast carcinoma with OGC occurs most often in relatively young women,has less lymph node involvement,and its occurrence is not racedependent.
