Objective To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of Chinese herbal compound Tongxinluo Capsule(通心络胶囊,TXL)on the Parkin-mediated mitophagy and the ubiquitin-proteasome system in a rat model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(MIRI).Methods Seventy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 7 groups:sham group,MIRI group,low-and high-dose TXL(0.5 and 1 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1),respectively)groups,atorvastatin(ATV)group(7.2 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)),chloroquine(CQ)group(10 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)),and highdose TXL+CQ *** pharmacological administration for 7 days,rats underwent left anterior descending artery ligation surgery to establish the MIRI models with 50 min ischemia followed by 4 h *** was taken for cardiac troponin I(cTnI)detection and hearts were harvested for infarct staining and apoptosis *** autophagy or mitophagy proteins and ubiquitinated proteins were detected by Western *** Compared with the sham group,the MIRI group exhibited a larger infarcted area(27.13%±0.01%,P<0.01),a higher apoptotic index(34.33%±2.03%vs.1.81%±0.03%,P<0.01),and higher cTnI expression(14.18±1.01 vs.7.96±0.32,P<0.01).The mitochondrial integrity was damaged in the MIRI group,while TXL and ATV alleviated the damage of *** autophagosomes were observed in the high-dose TXL group than in the MIRI group(7.00±0.58 vs.4.33±1.15,P<0.05).More amounts of PTEN-induced putative kinase protein 1(PINK1)and Parkin translocated onto the mitochondria were detected in the high-dose TXL group than in the MIRI group(P<0.05).The ubiquitin response was signifificantly downregulated in the high-dose TXL group relative to the MIRI group(P<0.05).CQ administration abolished the activation of autophagy flux and the PINK1/Parkin pathway induced by high-dose of *** TXL ameliorates MIRI via activating Parkin-mediated mitophagy in *** downregulation of the ubiquitin-proteasome system is also involved.

A series of high quality Dy_(2)O_(3) and Tm_(2)O_(3)co-doped yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) single crystals was *** crystals have a single cubic structure,and exhibit the characteristic of Dy^(3+)(blue and yellow emissions) and Tm^(3+)(blue emission) under excitation with NUV *** rtantly,the hue can be varied between blue and white by modifying the Tm^(3+)/Dy^(3+)*** photoluminescence and decay curves are consistent with the existence of resonance-type energy transfer from Tm^(3+)to Dy^(3+)ions via an electric multipole interaction *** luminescence intensity is observed in YSZ doped with 0.50 mol% Tm_(2)O_(3) and 0.75 mol% Dy_(2)O_(3),and this sample has CIE coordinates(x = 0.33,y = 0.33) in accordance with those for white ***,the outstanding luminescence properties of these single crystals suggest potential applications in white light emission devices.

A new mononuclear copper (II) complex, [Cu(dbpy)2Cl]OH0.5CH3OH2H2O (dbpy = 4,4?dimethyl-2,2?bipyridine) (C24.50H31ClCuN4O3.50, Mr = 536.52) has been synthesized and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P2/c with a = 13.383(6), b = 7.653(3), c = 14.164(6) ? b = 105.395(8), V = 1398.7(10) 3, Z = 2, Dc = 1.274 g/cm3, m = 0.908 mm-1, F(000) = 560 and R = 0.0773 for 1467 observed reflections with I>2s(I). Each copper(II) ion is coordinated by two dbpy and one Cl- ion and the coordination geometry can be described as a distorted trigonal bipyramidal arrange- ment.

Theoretical study about the magnetic properties of conjugated organic molecules containing borepin with π current density was carried out. 1-（2,4,6-Trimethylphenyl）borepin moiety is the center and other different groups are situated on the both fl sides, which are named molecules 1--12 as theoretical model in order to establish the rela- tionship between aromaticity and geometry variation of borepin. The optimized molecular structures of molecules 1--12 are almost keeping planar and the C2--C3 bond length of borepin turns longer from molecule 1 to molecule 12 Different borepin-annulated ring could change the conjugated effect of π-electron between borepin and these bore- pin-annulated rings. Moreover, the molecule presents antiaromaticity, in other words, the molecule became unstable when the C2--C3 bond length of borepin extended more than ca. O. 1417 nm. But the fl position fragment and substi- tuent groups of borepin are not affected in this case, they are still steady. However, the central borepin ring current is counteracted by symmetrical overlap of it with affiliated borepin-annulated ring current. Hence, the central borepin ring breaking would be liable to occur. These molecules have higher vertical ionization potentials（VIPs） and lower vertical electron affinities（VEAs）, which suggests that these molecules could easily exist in anionic form.

For the bright neutron star low-mass X-ray binary Sco X-l, we analyzed all updated frequencies of the twin kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations （kHz QPOs）, their correlations and distributions. We found that the frequency separation of the kHz QPO peaks appears not to be a constant, rather, it decreases with increasing inferred mass accretion rate. We show that the currently available data of Sco X-1 by Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer are inconsistent with the proposals of the beat model that the frequency separation is a constant. Our conclusions are consistent with those of some previous researchers and we discuss further implications for the kilohertz QPO models.

Superoxide dismutases （SODs） are a group of important antioxidant defense enzymes. In this study, a putative extracellular Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase （ecCuZnSOD） complementary DNA was cloned and characterized from the whitefly, Bemisia tabaci. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that the expression level of BtecCuZnSOD was more than 10-fold higher in the invasive Middle East Asia Minor 1 （MEAM1） than in the native Asia II 3 species of the B. tabaci species complex. After exposure to low temperature （4 ℃）, the expression of Bt-ecCuZnSOD gene was significantly up-regulated in MEAM1 but not in Asia II 3. Furthermore, the expression level ofB. tabaci intracellular CuZnSOD （Bt-icCuZnSOD）, Bt-ecCuZnSOD and mitochondrial MnSOD （Bt-mMnSOD） was compared after transferring MEAM1 and Asia II 3 whiteflies from favorable （cotton） to unfavorable host plants （tobacco）. On cotton, both CuZnSOD genes were expressed at a higher level in MEAM1 compared with Asia II 3. Interestingly, after transferring onto tobacco, the expression of Bt-ecCuZnSOD was significantly induced in Asia II 3 but not in MEAM1. On the other hand, while Bt-mMnSOD was expressed equally in both species on cotton, Bt-mMnSOD messenger RNA was up-regulated in MEAM 1 on tobacco. Consistently, enzymatic activity assays of CuZnSOD and MnSOD demonstrated that CuZnSOD might play an important protective role against oxidative stress in Asia II 3, whereas MnSOD activation was critical for MEAM1 whiteflies during host adaptation. Taken together, our results suggest that the successful invasion ofMEAM 1 is correlated with its constitutive high activity of CuZnSOD and inducible expression of MnSOD under stress conditions.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in urban soil from Beijing, China

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （EPA-PAHs） in the urban surface soils from Beijing were determined using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. It is significantly complementary for understanding the PAHs pollution in soil of integrated Beijing city on the basis of the information known in the outskirts. The total concentration of 16 EPA-PAH was from 0.467 to 5.470 μg/g and was described by the contour map. Compound profiles presented that the 4-, 5- and 6-ring PAHs were major compositions. The correlation analysis showed that PAHs have the similar source in the most sampling sites and BaP might be considered as the indicator of PAHs. Characteristic ratios of anthracene （An）/（An＋ phenanthrene （Phe））, fluoranthene （Flu）/（Flu/ pyrene （Pyr）） and benzo[a]pyrene （BaP）/laenzo[g,h,i]perylene （BghiP） indicated that the PAHs pollutants probably mainly originated from the coal combustion and it was not negligible from vehicular emission. The level of PAHs in our study area was compared with other studies.

Numerical investigation of the effects of aquatic plants on wind-induced currents in Taihu Lake in China

Shallow lakes are an important part of the earth's water circulation system, and many factors may impact the evolution of the lake water circulation, including the wind, the topography, the human activities, and the aquatic plants. This paper proposes a depth-averaged 2-D hydrodynamic model to investigate the interaction of the wind-induced current and the aquatic plant in the lake. The model is based on the generalized shallow water equations solved by an explicit finite volume method with unstructured triangular grids. The drag force of the vegetation is considered into the momentum equations as the source term. Remote sensing techniques are applied to evaluate the aquatic vegetation in the Taihu Lake, China, based on Landsat TM satellite images. The study model is then used to simulate the characteristics of the wind-induced currents in the Taihu Lake, without and with the vegetation effects. The simulation results are in good agreement with the field measurements, demonstrating that the aquatic plants significantly affect the magnitude of the velocity and the flow circulation induced by the wind in the Taihu Lake. In addition, a sensitivity analysis reveals that the plant parameters (the density and the drag force coefficient) are significant factors influencing the velocity and the structure of the currents in the Taihu Lake.

Structure characterization and grinding performance of gas-quenched steel slag abrasive

Gas-quenched steel slag abrasive was obtained by gas quenching with high-temperature liquid steel slag as raw *** phase composition,thermal properties,micromorphology,magnetic properties,and mechanical properties of the par-ticles were characterized by using an X-ray diffractometer,a differential thermal analyzer,a scanning electron microscope,a magnetic property meter,and a compressive strength tester,*** show that the gas-quenched steel slag abrasive is a monodisperse regular *** compressive strength of a single particle is 34 *** product is ferromag-netic and has good thermal *** micromorphology and flatness of the workpiece before and after grinding with the gas-quenched steel slag abrasive were measured using a three-dimensional *** reveal that the surface roughness of the workpiece is reduced to 1.526,0.623,and 0.227μm after grinding for 5,10,and 20 min,*** surface profile fluctuation decreases to±1.0μ***,the workpiece surface tends to be flat without obvious scratches.
