P-type Mg_(3)Sb_(2)-based Zintls have attracted considerable interest in the thermoelectric(TE)field due to their environmental friendliness and low ***,compared to their n-type counterparts,they show relatively low TE performance,limiting their application in TE *** this work,we simultaneously introduce Bi alloying at Sb sites and Ag doping at Mg sites into the Mg_(3)Sb_(2)to coopera-tively optimize the electrical and thermal properties for the first time,acquiring the highest ZT value of∼0.85 at 723 K and a high average ZT of 0.39 in the temperature range of 323-723 K in sample Mg_(2.94)Ag_(0.06)Sb_(1.9)Bi_(0.1).The first-principle calculations show that the codoping of Ag and Bi can shift the Fermi level into the valence band and narrow the band gap,resulting in the increased carrier concentration from 3.50×10^(17)cm^(-3)in the reference Mg 3 Sb 0.9 Bi 0.1 to∼7.88×10^(19)cm^(-3)in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** a result,a remarkable power factor of∼778.9μW m^(-1)K^(-2)at 723 K is achieved in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi ***,a low lattice thermal conductivity of∼0.48 W m^(-1)K^(-1)at 723 K is also obtained with the help of phonon scattering at the distorted lattice,point defects,and nano-precipitates in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** synergistic effect of using the multi-element co-doping/-alloying to optimize electrical properties in Mg_(3)Sb_(2)holds promise for further improving the TE performance of Zintl phase materials or even others.

Objective: Recent studies have reported conflicting results on the correlation between metformin use and outcomes in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the efficacy of metformin therapy on the prognosis of CRC patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and the Web of Science for related articles up to August 2016. Two investigators independently identified and extracted information. Pooled risk estimates [hazard ratios (HRs)] and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using fixed-effects models. The risk of publication bias was assessed by examining funnel plot asymmetry as well as Egger's test and Begg's ***: Of 81 articles identified, 8 retrospective cohort studies, representing 6098 cases of CRC patients with T2DM who used metformin and 4954 cases of CRC patients with T2DM who did not use metformin, were included in this meta-analysis. There was no significant heterogeneity and quality difference between studies. Metformin users had significantly improved overall survival (OS) (HR=0.82, 95%CI:0.77-0.87, P=0.000). However, Metformin use cannot affect CRC-specific survival (HR=0.84, 95%CI:0.69-1.02, P=0.079) compared to ***: This meta-analysis suggests that metformin use may improve survival among CRC patients with T2DM. However, prospective controlled studies are still needed to rigorously evaluate the efficacy of metformin as an anti-tumor agent.

Container ports and hinterland manufacturing are two important forces of the local participation in economic *** study,taking the Pearl River Delta(PRD),China with an export-oriented economy as an example,applies Huff and panel regres-sion models to evaluate the impact of hinterland manufacturing on the development of container ports during the period of 1993–*** results show that 1)the spatial patterns of hinterlands for hub ports help to determine the distribution range and scale of economic variables that affect port throughput;2)the hinterland’s gross manufacturing output has universally positive influence on port through-put,wherein export-oriented processing and the entire manufacturing industry have significantly positive impact on port throughput in 1993–2011 and 2001–2019,respectively;3)the two internal structural factors related to an export-oriented economy,labor-intensive sectors and foreign-funded terminals,have positively moderate the direct influence of hinterland manufacturing on port *** results highlight the importance of local context in understanding port-manufacturing relationship in developing *** on our findings,policy implications are further proposed to enhance port network organization in PRD.

AIM:To directly quantify peroxynitrite(ONOO-)using a highly sensitive fluorescence resonance energy transfer probe RN-NA,investigate the association between ONOOand primary open angle glaucoma(POAG),and clarify whether RN-NA could be used as a potential tool for POAG ***:Plasma and aqueous humor(AH)samples were collected from POAG patients(n=100,age:59.70±6.87y)and age-related cataract(ARC)patients(n=100,age:61.15±4.60y)admitted to our ***,RN-NA was used to detect ONOO-in plasma and AH samples,and the relationship between ONOO-level and POAG was analyzed using binary logistic ***,Pearson correlation analysis was applied to characterize the correlation of the levels of ONOO-with the patients’age,intraocular pressure(IOP),and mean deviation of visual field *** ONOO-scavenger MnTMPyP was employed to treat the 3-morpholinosyndnomine(SIN-1)-induced ocular hypertension in mice(n=7,6-8wk).Finally,the IOP and ONOO-in both eyes were measured 30min after the last drug ***:ONOO-levels of AH and plasma were significantly higher in the POAG group than in the ARC group(P<0.01).Additionally,ONOO-levels were closely correlated with POAG in a binary logistic regression analysis[odds ratio(OR)=1.008,95%confidence interval(CI):1.002-1.013,P<0.01 for AH;OR=1.004,95%CI:1.002-1.006,P<0.001 for plasma].Pearson correlation analysis showed that ONOO-levels in AH or plasma were positively associated with visual field defects(R=0.51,P<0.01 for AH;R=0.45,P<0.001 for plasma),and ONOO-levels in plasma and AH were correlated in the POAG group(R=0.69,P<0.001).However,administering MnTMPyP to mouse eyes reversed the elevated IOP caused by SIN-1(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:ONOO-levels in AH and plasma,detected by RN-NA,are significantly related to POAG and positively correlated with visual field defects in POAG ***,ONOO-is a potential biomarker of POAG,especially advanced ***,anti-nitration compounds may be novel ocular hypotens

Background Saline nasal irrigation is an effective therapy for relieving common cold *** study aimed to investigate and explore the efficacy of physiological seawater nasal irrigation(PSNI)on children with mild and asymptomatic infection with *** This randomized controlled trial was conducted in Shanghai,China,and 403 children with mild and asymptomatic infection with Omicron were *** children were allocated into the PSNI group and the control *** primary outcome was the duration of viral shedding(DVS),and the secondary outcome was the change in clinical *** The median age of all participants was 5.59(6.26)years *** DVS was significantly shorter in the PSNI group[2.40(1.13)]than in the control group[3.09(2.14)](P=0.014).The multivariable Cox regression model also showed that patients in the PSNI group had an increased probability of shorter DVS compared with patients in the control group[hazard ratio(HR),1.27;95%confidence interval(CI),1.04–1.55;P=0.017].Subgroup analysis suggested that the DVS of patients without full vaccination was significantly reduced in the PSNI *** proportions of runny nose and stuffy nose were apparently reduced in the first three days in the PSNI group or the control group,but there was no evidence showing that PSNI contributes to the benefit compared with the control *** PSNI can reduce the DVS of patients with mild and asymptomatic infection with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2 variant.

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy,safety and influential factors of proton pump inhibitor(PPI)treatment for non-erosive reflux disease(NERD).METHODS:PubMed,MEDLINE,EMBASE and the Cochrane Library were searched up to April 2013 to identify eligible randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that probed into the efficacy,safety and influential factors of PPI treatment for *** rates of symptomatic relief and adverse events were measured as the *** RCT selection,assessment and data collection,the pooled RRs and 95%CI were *** meta-analysis was performed using the Stata 12.0 software(Stata Corporation,College Station,Texas,United States).The level of evidence was estimated by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development and Evaluation ***:Seventeen RCTs including 6072 patients met the inclusion *** results of the metaanalysis showed that PPI treatment was significantly superior to H2receptor antagonists(H2RA)treatment(RR=1.629,95%CI:1.422-1.867,P=0.000)and placebo(RR=1.903,95%CI:1.573-2.302,P=0.000)for the symptomatic relief of ***,there were no obvious differences between PPI and H2RA(RR=0.928,95%CI:0.776-1.110,P=0.414)or PPI and the placebo(RR=1.000,95%CI:0.896-1.116,P=0.997)regarding the rate of adverse *** overall rate of symptomatic relief of PPI against NERD was 51.4%(95%CI:0.433-0.595,P=0.000),and relief was influenced by hiatal hernia(P=0.030).The adverse rate of PPI against NERD was 21.0%(95%CI:0.152-0.208,P=0.000),and was affected by hiatal hernia(P=0.081)and drinking(P=0.053).CONCLUSION:PPI overmatched H2RA on symptomatic relief rate but not on adverse rate for *** relief rate and adverse rate were influenced by hiatal hernia and drinking.

As a renewable,biocompatible,biodegradable soft material,chitin hydrogels have better advantages in stability,antibacterial activity,antifouling,cost,immunogenicity,and so on than most polymer ***,compared with other widely used polymer hydrogels with high strength and toughness,the practical applications of chitin-based hydrogels have been limited by their weak mechanical properties,such as cartilage repair and meniscus ***,we present the design and fabrication of chitin hydrogels with excellent mechanical strength and toughness by a dehydration and rehydration *** sequential dehydration and rehydration processes,the crystalline domains in the chitin hydrogels can be properly *** optimized crystallinity,the elastic modulus of the chitin hydrogels exceeds all previously reported values,and the fracture toughness is even comparable to some synthetic polymer hydrogels,while maintaining a high-water-content of about 80 wt.%.At the same water content,the mechanical properties of the chitin hydrogels are positively correlated with the hydrogel crystallinity,which proves that the change of mechanical properties of hydrogels is not simply dependent on weight *** hydrogels can be further strengthened by incorporating other biopolymers that are intrinsically weak,which makes the hydrogels promising for applications in fields such as cartilage repair and meniscus ***,the hydrogels enable loading and release of water-soluble and poorly water-soluble *** highly extendable strengthening and toughening strategy of chitin and chitin-based biopolymer hydrogels paves the way for their widely applications.
