Graph filtering is an important part of graph signal processing and a useful tool for image *** graph filtering methods,such as adaptive weighted graph filtering(AWGF),focus on coefficient shrinkage strategies in a graph-frequency ***,they seldom consider the image attributes in their graph-filtering ***,the denoising performance of graph filtering is barely comparable with that of other state-of-the-art denoising *** fully exploit the image attributes,we propose a guided intra-patch smoothing AWGF(AWGF-GPS)method for single-image *** AWGF,which employs graph topology on patches,AWGF-GPS learns the topology of superpixels by introducing the pixel smoothing attribute of a *** operation forces the restored pixels to smoothly evolve in local areas,where both intra-and inter-patch relationships of the image are utilized during patch ***,a guided-patch regularizer is incorporated into *** guided patch is obtained in advance using a maximum-a-posteriori probability *** the guided patch is considered as a sketch of a denoised patch,AWGF-GPS can effectively supervise patch restoration during graph filtering to increase the reliability of the denoised *** demonstrate that the AWGF-GPS method suitably rebuilds denoising *** outperforms most state-of-the-art single-image denoising methods and is competitive with certain deep-learning *** particular,it has the advantage of managing images with significant noise.

In August 2014,the local media in hon. Kong reports a case of illegal prescription of the topical corticosteroid(CS)triamcinolone acetonide to a child with eczema by a Chinese medicine(CM)practitioner.[1]The eminent CM practitioner is depicted as a"divine doctor for childbirth",and illegal prescription or sale of CS as a class I poison considered a criminal *** November 2011,another eminent CM practitioner,also known as"holy hand for eczema"was charged for causing Cushing syndrome in a number of children with eczema who had unknowingly received CS whilst receiving acupuncture therapy.[2]In 2006,a complementary and alternative medicine(CAM)practitioner was charged for processing and prescribing CS.[3]The CAM practitioner,also known as"Father of Naturopathy",allegedly discouraged patients from using legally prescribed CS for treatment of common atopic diseases.

Gastrointestinal(GI)cancers are the major cause of cancer-related mortality *** imaging is an important auxiliary means for the diagnosis,assessment and prognostic prediction of GI *** is an emerging and effective technology to decipher the encoded information within medical images,and traditional machine learning is the most commonly used *** advances in deep learning technology have further promoted the development of *** the field of GI cancer,although there are several surveys on radiomics,there is no specific review on the application of deep-learning-based radiomics(DLR).In this review,a search was conducted on Web of Science,PubMed,and Google Scholar with an emphasis on the application of DLR for GI cancers,including esophageal,gastric,liver,pancreatic,and colorectal ***,the challenges and recommendations based on the findings of the review are comprehensively analyzed to advance DLR.

Effective Common Chinese Herbal Medicines Used in Treating Chronic Cholecystitis with Liver-Gallbladder Dampness-Heat Syndrome: A Review of Clinical Studies in the Past 10 Years

The objective of the study is to identify the effective common Chinese herbal medicines used in treating chronic cholecystitis with liver-gallbladder dampness-heat syndrome(CCLGDHS) through reviewing relevant clinical studies published in the past 10 years. Data were collected from Science Direct and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure. Data screening was carried out for the abstracts and full texts of the data. The top 15 Chinese herbal medicines with the highest occurring frequency were selected, statistically analyzed, and classified by their medicinal properties, actions, and indications according to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015 edition. The top 15 effective common Chinese herbal medicines comprise Chai Hu, Huang Qin, Jin Qian Cao, Bai Shao, Yin Chen, Yu Jin, Chuan Lian Zi, yan.Hu Suo, Zhi Shi, Ban Xia, Bai Zhu, Pu Gong Ying, Gan Cao, Zhi Zi, and Qing Pi. The predominant natures were cold, cool, and warm. This combination can clear stagnant heat, warm yan., and regulate Qi dynamics. In addition, bitter, pungent, and sweet were the predominant flavors. They can clear dampness-heat, regulate Qi dynamics to relieve cramps and pain, as well as tonify the deficiency. Along with entering the liver and gallbladder meridians, these herbal medicines also entered the spleen, stomach, and lung meridians to prevent potential disease transmission. The combinatorial medicinal actions of the effective common Chinese herbal medicine highlight the importance of the holistic concept of traditional Chinese medicine when treating CCLGDHS. In addition, the inclusion of activating blood to promote blood circulation, relieving cramps and alleviating pain, and tonifying the spleen and stomach represents a new finding in the treatment principle for CCLGDHS.

Leukemia is the disorder of hematopoietic cell development and is characterized by an uncoupling of cell proliferation and differentiation. There is a pressing need for the development of novel tactics for leukemia therapy as conventional treatments often have severe adverse side effects. Tryptanthrin （6,12-dihydro-6,12-dioxoindolo- （2,1-b）-quinazoline） is a naturally-occurring, weakly basic alkaloid isolated from the dried roots of medicinal indigo plants （Ban-Lan-Gen）. It has been reported to have various biological and pharmacological activities, including anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anti-tumor effects. However, its modulatory effects and action mechanisms on myeloid cells remain poorly understood. In this study, tryptanthrin was shown to suppress the proliferation of the murine myeloid leukemia WEHI-3B JCS cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. It also significantly reduced the growth of WEHI-3B JCS cells in vivo in syngeneic BALB/c mice. However, it exhibited no significant direct cytotoxicity on normal murine peritoneal macrophages. Flow cytometric analysis showed an obvious cell cycle arrest of the tryptanthrin-treated WEHI-3B JCS cells at the G0/G1 phase. The expression of cyclin D2, D3, Cdk 2, 4 and 6 genes in WEHI-3B JCS cells was found to be down-regulated at 24 h as measured by RT-PCR. Morphological and functional studies revealed that tryptanthrin could induce differentiation in WEHI-3B JCS cells, as shown by the increases in vacuolation, cellular granularity and NBT-reducing activity in tryptanthrin-treated cells. Collectively, our findings suggest that tryptanthrin might exert its anti-tumor effect on the murine myelomonocytic leukemia WEHI-3B JCS cells by causing cell cycle arrest and by triggering cell differentiation.

A quasi-two-dimensional layer of MoS2 was placed on top of a silicon optical waveguide to form a MoS2–silicon hybrid structure. Chirped pulse self-phase modulation measurements were carried out to determine the optica Kerr nonlinearity of the structure. The observed increase in the spectral broadening of the optical pulses in the MoS2–silicon waveguide compared with the silicon waveguides indicated that the third-order nonlinear effect in MoS2 is about 2 orders of magnitude larger than that in silicon. The measurements show that MoS2 has an effective optical Kerr coefficient of about 1.1 × 10-16m2∕W. This work reveals the potential application of MoS2 to enhance the nonlinearity of hybrid silicon optical devices.
