Understanding the determinants of ranging patterns in species susceptible to habitat fragmentation is fundamental for assessing their long-term adaptability to an increasingly human-dominated *** aim of this study was to determine and compare the influence of ground-based food availability,remotely sensed plant productivity,and indigenous forest use on the ranging patterns of the endangered samango monkey(Cercopithecus albogularis schwarzi).We collected monthly ranging data on two habituated samango monkey groups,from February 2012 to December 2016,from our field site in the Soutpansberg Mountains,South *** used linear mixed models to explore how food availability,plant productivity,and indigenous forest use influenced monthly ranging patterns,while controlling for group size,number of sample days and day *** found that as more areas of high plant productivity(derived from remotely sensed EVI)were incorporated into the ranging area,both total and core monthly ranging areas *** addition,both total ranging area and mean monthly daily path length decreased as more indigenous forest was incorporated into the ranging ***,we found no effect of either ground-based food availability or remotely sensed plant productivity on ranging *** findings demonstrate the behavioral flexibility in samango monkey ranging,as samangos can utilize matrix habitat during periods of low productivity but are ultimately dependent on access to indigenous forest *** addition,we highlight the potential of using remotely sensed areas of high plant productivity to predict ranging patterns in a small ranging,forest-dwelling guenon,over ground-based estimates of food availability.

This study was to evaluate the effect of xylanase supplementation and the addition of live yeast,Saccharomyces cerevisiae,on growth performance and intestinal microbiota in *** hundred and eighty commercial crossbred 23-d-old piglets(PIC 417)were sorted by initial BW and allocated to 3 treatments:control(CTR)diet,CTR diet supplemented with xylanase at 16,000 birch xylan units/kg(XyL)and XyL diet supplemented with live yeast(2 x 1010 CFU/g)at 1 kg/t(XyL+Ly).Each treatment had 10 replicates,with 6 animals each.A sorghum-based diet and water were available ad libitum for 42 d of the *** daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake(ADFI)were measured from 0 to 42 d(23-to 65-d-old)and feed conversion ratio(FCR)*** the end of the study,bacterial identification through 16 S rRNA(V3 to V4)sequencing of the ileal and caecal digesta from one piglet per replicate was *** treatment effects were observed on *** offered the live yeast in addition to the xylanase had increased ADG compared with those supplemented with xylanase alone(XyL+Ly ***;P=0.655).FCR was improved with XyL and XyL+Ly compared with CTR(P=0.018).Clostridiaceae counts in the ileum tended to reduce by 10%with XyL and 14%with XyL+Ly compared to CTR(P=0.07).XyL and XyL+Ly increased the counts of Lactobacillaceae in the caecum compared with CTR(Py supplementation of live yeast combined with xylanase improved growth performance and microbial balance of piglets during the nursery phase.

yes, we perceive that the environment in which comp an ies operate, is changing at higher speeds then before. Globalisation, higher inn ovation rates, customisation, more intense competition, technological developmen ts account for these changes effecting the way industrial companies operate and eventually their structures and processes. Companies have to adapt themselves to these changes. The question arose whether the approach of the Section Industria l Organisation and Management that it has practised for redesign of processes an d organisational structures also withholds in this era of continuous change. Sec ondly, firms are also looking for contingencies in processes and structures to i mprove their chances for survival. These two questions into the processes and st ructures within the firm that it needs to support adaptation to the ever-changi ng environment direct this research. Industrial companies will have to increase to their Complexity Handling Capabili ty, the ability to cope with changes in its environment and imposed complexity p ouring in from the environment. To do so, they might decrease their internal com plexity through redefining their organisations and product structure. The effect of these measurements seems limited; more might be won by learning to increase its base of capabilities. The increase of capabilities holds parallels to the de velopment of species in biology and paleontology for which two models exist: the punctuated equilibrium and the phyletic gradualism. The punctuated equilibr ium supposes that periods of turmoil are interchanged by periods of fermentation giving rise to new variants and products (for companies). The phyletic graduali sm relies on the development of characteristics in species that are initially ha rd to detect but will lead at the end to new species. Whatever might be true for biology and palaeontology, these two models appear as a possibility for cla ssifying the theories of organisational change. Also, these t

Background:Ruminants rely upon a complex community of microbes in their rumen to convert host-indigestible feed into ***,little is known about the association between the rumen microbiota and feed efficiency traits in Nellore(Bos indicus)cattle,a breed of major economic importance to the global beef ***,we compare the composition of the bacterial,archaeal and fungal communities in the rumen of Nellore steers with high and low feed efficiency(FE)phenotypes,as measured by residual feed intake(RFI).Results:The Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio was significantly higher(Py)than in negative-RFI(n-RFI,high feed efficiency)*** differences in bacterial composition from steers with high and low FE were mainly associated with members of the families Lachnospiraceae,Ruminococcaceae and Christensenellaceae,as well as the genus *** community richness was lower(Pyces was more abundant in the rumen solid fraction of n-RFI steers(Py abundant OTU belonging to the genus Piromyces was also increased in the rumen microbiota of highefficiency ***,analysis of rumen fermentation variables and functional predictions indicated similar metabolic outputs for the microbiota of distinct FE ***:Our results demonstrate that differences in the ruminal microbiota of high and low FE Nellore steers comprise specific taxa from the bacterial,archaeal and fungal *** OTUs belonging to the genus Piromyces were identified in animals showing high feed efficiency,whereas among archaea,Methanobrevibacter was associated with steers classified as *** identification of specific RFI-associated microorganisms in Nellore steers could guide further studies targeting the isolation and functional characterization
