Plants accumulate a vast array of secondary metabolites,which constitute a natural resource for *** corymbosa belongs to the Rubiaceae family,and has been used in traditional medicine to treat different diseases,including ***,the active metabolites of the plant,their biosynthetic pathway and mode of action in cancer are *** fill these gaps,we exposed this plant to eight different stress conditions and combined different omics data capturing gene expression,metabolic profiles,and anti-cancer *** results show that *** extracts are active against breast cancer cell lines and that ursolic acid is responsible for this ***,we assembled a high-quality genome and uncovered two genes involved in the biosynthesis of ursolic ***,we also revealed that ursolic acid causes mitotic catastrophe in cancer cells and identified three high-confidence protein binding targets by Cellular Thermal Shift Assay(CETSA)and reverse ***,these results constitute a valuable resource to further characterize the biosynthesis of active metabolites in the Oldenlandia group,while the mode of action of ursolic acid will allow us to further develop this valuable compound.

High-resolution multi-scale air pollution system:Evaluation of modelling performance and emission control strategies

A high percentage of the world's population lives in areas where air pollutant concentrations exceed the World Health Organization *** work aims to develop and test,a high-resolution multi-scale air pollution modelling system by integrating a set of adequate *** system is able to provide detailed air pollutant concentrations in urban areas and support air quality management strategies through a better identification of different atmospheric *** also allows furthering the design and assessment of air pollution control measures for a specific *** evaluate its performance and suitability,the system was applied to the Macao Special Administrative Region(SAR),China,one of the most densely populated areas on earth,during a winter period when this area is affected by high levels of Particulate Matter(PM).Although the developed system tends to underestimate the PM concentrations,it revealed a good performance in reproducing the temporal and spatial air pollution *** exceedances of the Chinese air quality standards were calculated and high population exposure to PM pollution was *** tested urban atmospheric emission reduction scenarios have shown air quality improvements,indicating that emission reduction measures at urban level should focus on the domestic ***,it is crucial to implement joint pollution prevention strategies with neighbouring regions to improve the air quality in Macao *** approach developed in this work can support policymakers in defining new strategies to reduce atmospheric pollution in urban areas.

Indications of pro-inflammatory cytokines in laparoscopic and open liver resection for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma

Background:Our clinical practice of laparoscopic liver resection(LLR)had achieved better short-term and long-term benefits for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)over open liver resection(OLR),but the underlying mechanisms are not *** study was to find out whether systemic inflammation plays an important ***:A total of 103 patients with early-stage HCC under liver resection were enrolled(LLR group,n=53;OLR group,n=50).The expression of 9 inflammatory cytokines in patients at preoperation,postoperative day 1(POD1)and POD7 was quantified by Luminex Multiplex *** relationships of the cytokines and the postoperative outcomes were compared between LLR and ***:Seven of the circulating cytokines were found to be significantly upregulated on POD1 after LLR or OLR compared to their preoperative *** to OLR,the POD1 levels of granulocytemacrophage colony-stimulating factor(GM-CSF),interleukin-6(IL-6),IL-8,and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1)in the LLR group were significantly *** POD1 levels of these cytokines were significantly correlated with longer operative time and higher volume of blood loss during *** levels of these cytokines were positively associated with postoperative liver injury,and the length of hospital ***,a high level of IL-6 at POD1 was a risk factor for HCC recurrence and poor disease-free survival after liver ***:Significantly lower level of GM-CSF,IL-6,IL-8,and MCP-1 after liver resection represented a milder systemic inflammation which might be an important mechanism to offer better short-term and long-term outcomes in LLR over OLR.

We report an extremely rare case of gas-filled abdominal mass caused by an ovarian teratoma fistulating to the sigmoid colon The patient was an 85-year-old female,who presented with severe abdominal distension Urgent computed tomography scan showed a huge abdominal mass with air fluid level and fecal matter inside Communication between the mass and the sigmoid colon was suspected She underwent emergency laparotomy The mass was resected with the involved segment of colon Pathology confirmed squamous cell carcinoma arising from mature cystic teratoma of the ovary.

Crystallization of μc-Si on plastic substrate by using a pulsed double-frequency yAG laser

Thin film transistors （TFTs） of microcrystalline silicon （μc-Si） can provide higher mobility and stability than that of a-Si and better uniformity than that of poly-Si TFTs, and it would be more suitable to be applied to larger-area AMOLEDs. By using 2coyAG laser ann. ealing, crystalline μc-Si thin film on plastic substrate has been investigated and the proper laser energy needed for crystallization has been indicated. It has been found that the dehydrogenation process at 300-450℃ for a few of hours could be omitted by decreasing the H content in the crystallization precursor, which is suitable for laser crystallization on plastic substrates. The crystalline volume fraction （Xc） and the grain size of the resulted μc-Si could be adjusted by controlling the laser energy. By this method, the μc-Si on plastic substrate with Xc and grain size is respectively 85% （at the maximum） and 50 nm.

Numerical simulations of cellular detonation diffraction in a stable gaseous mixture

In this paper,the diffraction phenomenon of gaseous cellular detonations emerging from a confined tube into a sudden open space is simulated using the reactive Euler equations with a two-step Arrhenius chemistry *** two-dimensional and axisymmetric configurations are used for modeling cylindrical and spherical expansions,*** chemical parameters are chosen for a stable gaseous explosive mixture in which the cellular detonation structure is highly *** mesh refinement(AMR)is used to resolve the detonation wave structure and its evolution during the *** numerical results show that the critical channel width and critical diameter over the detonation cell size are about 1371 and 2571,*** numerical findings are comparable with the experimental observation and confirm again that the critical channel width and critical diameter differ essentially by a factor close to 2,equal to the geometrical scaling based on front curvature *** unstable mixtures where instabilities manifested in the detonation front structure play a significant role during the transmission,the present numerical results and the observed geometrical scaling provide again evidence that the failure of detonation diffraction in stable mixtures with a regular detonation cellular pattern is dominantly caused by the global curvature due to the wave divergence resulting in the global decoupling of the reaction zone with the expanding shock front.

Fiber-optic sensors have been developed to monitor the structural vibration with advantages of high sensitivity,immunity to electromagnetic interference(EMI),flexibility,and capability to achieve multiplexed or distributed ***,the current fiber-optic sensors require precisely polarized coherent lasers as the lighting sources,which are expensive in cost and suffer from the power supply issues while operating at outdoor *** work aims at solving these issues,through developing a fully self-powered,natural-light-enabled *** achieve that,a spring oscillator-based triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG),a polymer network liquid crystal(PNLC),and an optical fiber were *** external vibration drove the PNLC to switch its transparency,allowing the varia-tion of the incident natural light in the optical *** with the majority of conventional TENG-based active vibration sensors,the developed paradigm does not suffer from the EMI,without requirements of the signal preamplifica-tion which consumes additional *** vibration displacement monitoring was performed to validate the sensing effectiveness of the developed paradigm.
