Effect of organic mineral supplementation in reducing oxidative stress in holstein calves during short‑term heat stress and recovery conditions

Background This study investigated the effects of inorganic and organic minerals on physiological responses,oxidative stress reduction,and rumen microbiota in holstein bull calves(123.81±9.76 kg;5 months old)during short-term heat stress(HS)and recovery *** holstein calves were randomly assigned to four treatment groups:no mineral supplementation(Con),inorganic minerals(IM),organic minerals(OM),and high-concentration organic minerals(hoM)and two thermal environments(HS and recovery)using 4×2 factorial arrangement in a crossover design of four periods of 35 *** were maintained in a temperature-controlled *** experimental period consisted of 14 d of HS,14 d of recovery condititon,and a 7-d washing *** Body temperature and respiration rate were higher in HS than in the recovery conditions(Pgh in the hoM-supplemented calves in both HS(90.38μg/dL)and recovery periods(102.00μg/dL)(Pg the HS period,the serum cortisol was 20.26 ng/mL in the hoM group,which was 5.60 ng/mL lower than in the control group(Phe total antioxidant status was the highest in the OM group(2.71 mmol Trolox equivalent/L),followed by the hoM group during HS,whereas it was highest in the hoM group(2.58 mmol Trolox equivalent/L)during the recovery period(PhoM supplementation during the HS and recovery periods,whereas SOD and gPX levels were not significantly affected(P>0.05).The principal coordinate analysis represented that the overall rumen microbiota was not influenced by mineral supplementation;however,temperature-induced microbial structure shifts were indicated(PERMANOVA:Phe phylum level,Firmicutes and Actinobacteria decreased,whereas Fibrobacteres,Spirochaetes,and Tenericutes increased(Pgenus Treponema increased under HS conditions,while Christensenella was higher in recovery conditions(P<0.05).Conc

Allium is a complicated genus that includes approximately 1000 *** its morphology is well studied,the taxonomic importance of many morphological traits,including floral traits,are poorly ***,we examined and measured the floral characteristics of 87 accessions of 74 Allium taxa(belonging to 30 sections and nine subgenera)from Central to Eastern Asian *** then examined the taxonomic relationships between select flower characteristics and a phylogenetic tree based on ITS *** results confirm that floral morphology provides key taxonomic information to assess species delimitation in *** found that perianth color is an important characteristic within the ***,Polyprason,and *** ***,Cepa,and Rhizirideum,significant characteristics include ovary shape,perianth shape,and inner tepal *** species in ***,the key taxonomic character is ovule number(only one ovule in per locule).In the ***,Cepa,Polyprason,and Reticulatobulbosa,which belong to the third evolutionary line of Allium,hood-like appendages occur in the ovary,altho.gh these do not occur in *** results also indicated that the flower morphology of several species in some sections are not clearly distinguished,e.g.,***(***)and ***(***).This study provides detailed photographs and descriptions of floral characteristics and information on general distributions,habitats,and phenology of the studied taxa.

Chemical and mechanical properties of stainless, environment-friendly, and nonflammable Mg alloys (SEN alloys): A review

This review article provides overall understanding of stainless,environment-friendly,and nonflammable Mg alloys(SEN alloys)recently developed at the Korea Institute of Materials *** alloys are produced by adding small amounts of Ca and Y(eachg–Al based alloys,resulting in exceptional ignition and corrosion resistances and impressive mechanical *** main advantages of SEN alloys are as follows.(1)A dense multi-oxide layer of SEN alloys comprising MgO,CaO,and Y_(2)O_(3) impedes the outward dispersion of Mg vapor and the inward penetration of O_(2) during oxidation,thereby enhancing the oxidation and ignition resistances.(2)The presence of Ca-and Y-based second-phase particles in SEN alloys can enhance their corrosion resistance because Ca-containing particles prevent the spread of corrosion,and the replacement of Al-containing particles with less noble ones containing Y(e.g.,Al–Mn–Y or Al–Y particles)retards corrosion.(3)The addition of minor amounts of Ca and Y renders excellent mechanical properties due to improved strengthening *** enhanced properties are attributed to more pronounced dynamic recrystallization and grain refining behaviors caused by the second-phase particles during extrusion.(4)Despite the presence of various types of second-phase particles,the fatigue properties of SEN9 alloys are similar to those of commercial AZ91 alloys.(5)Simultaneous introduction of Ca and Y suppresses the formation of Mg17Al12 discontinuous precipitates during aging,leading to the enhanced elongation of aged SEN alloys.(6)Adding mischmetal into the SEN9 alloy leads to a six-fold enhancement in ***,the studies conducted on SEN alloys demonstrate their excellent ignition and corrosion resistances and mechanical properties,which broaden the industrial applications of Mg alloys by addressing their inherent weaknesses.

A single center analysis of long-term outcomes and survival related risk factors in liver retransplantation

Advanced wastewater treatment with microalgae-indigenous bacterial interactions

Microalgal-indigenous bacterial wastewater treatment(MBWT)emerges as a promising approach for the concurrent removal of nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P).Despite its potential,the prevalent use of MBWT in batch systems limits its broader ***,the success of MBWT critically depends on the stable self-adaptation and synergistic interactions between microalgae and indigenous bacteria,yet the underlying biological mechanisms are not fully *** we explore the viability and microbial dynamics of a continuous flow microalgae-indigenous bacteria advanced wastewater treatment system(CFMBAWTS)in processing actual secondary effluent,with a focus on varying hydraulic retention times(HRTs).The research highlights a stable,mutually beneficial relationship between indigenous bacteria and *** and indigenous bacteria can create an optimal environment for each other by providing essential cofactors(like iron,vitamins,and indole-3-acetic acid),oxygen,dissolved organic matter,and *** collaboration leads to effective microbial growth,enhanced N and P removal,and energy *** study also uncovers crucial metabolic pathways,functional genes,and patterns of microbial ***,the effluent NH4 t-N and P levels complied with the Chinese national Class-II,Class-V,Class-IA,and Class-IB wastewater discharge standards when the HRT was reduced from 15 to 6 *** results,including the highest rates of CO2 fixation(1.23 g L^(-1)),total energy yield(32.35 kJ L^(-1)),and the maximal lipid(33.91%)and carbohydrate(41.91%)content,were observed at an HRT of 15 ***,this study not only confirms the feasibility of CFMBAWTS but also lays a crucial foundation for enhancing our understanding of this technology and propelling its practical application in wastewater treatment plants.

The critical factor of spatial constraint,provided by the external confinement(e.g.,matrix),is often overlooked during photodynamic inactivation,despite playing a crucial role in determining the molecular photophysical process and subsequent antipathogen ***,as a proof-of-concept model,we employed two types of polymers with varying interaction energies with dopants to investigate the intrinsic relationship between spatial constraint and the essential excited-state behaviors of doped photosensitizer(4-(2-(5-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)thiophen-2-yl)ethyl)-1-methylquinolin-1-ium iodine,TPP).Through experimental investigation and theoretical calculations,we found that TPP tends to remain in the excited state for a shorter dwell time under weaker spatial constraints due to less restricted molecular motion in polyurethane(PU) ***,the singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2)) generated from doped-TPP shows a 9.23-fold enhancement in PU than in the polyvinylchloride(PVC) *** light irradiation,the PU@TPP nanofiber can efficiently eliminate the coronavirus MHV-A59(≥99.9997%) at a 220,000-fold higher concentration than the infected *** antibacterial efficacy has also been demonstrated,with a killing rate of ≥99%.
