PrBa_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(1.5)Fe_(0.5)O_(5+δ)(PrBSCF) has attracted much research interest as a potential triple ionic and electronic conductor(TIEC) electrode for protonic ceramic fuel cells(PCFCs). The chemical formula for Pr BSCF is AA'B_(2)O_(5+δ), with Pr(A-site) and Ba/Sr(A'-site) alternately stacked along the c-axis. Due to these structural features, the bulk oxygen ion diffusivity is significantly enhanced through the disorder-free channels in the PrO layer;thus, the A site cations(lanthanide ions) play a pivotal role in determining the overall electrochemical properties of layered perovskites. Consequently, previous research has predominantly focused on the electrical properties and oxygen bulk/surface kinetics of Ln cation effects,whereas the hydration properties for PCFC systems remain unidentified. Here, we thoroughly examined the proton uptake behavior and thermodynamic parameters for the hydration reaction to conclusively determine the changes in the electrochemical performances depending on LnBa_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(1.5)Fe_(0.5)O_(5+δ)(LnBSCF,Ln=Pr, Nd, and Gd) cathodes. At 500 ℃, the quantitative proton concentration of PrBSCF was 2.04 mol% and progressively decreased as the Ln cation size decreased. Similarly, the Gibbs free energy indicated that less energy was required for the formation of protonic defects in the order of Pr BSCF hodes, PCFC single cell measurements and analysis of the distribution of relaxation time were further investigated.

A facile chemical method for the development of photocatalytic coating products was proposed based on practical application perspective for the hong Kong roadside nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))mitigation.TiO_(2)-based photocatalytic coating PC-C film with crystallized size of around 5–6 nm was synthesized with the peptization of H_(2)O_(2).The PC-C coating possesses a super-hydrophilicity surface and is proven to have a NO_(x)degradation rate of 46.8%with an optimum pH level of 7.In addition,the PC-C coating presents a promising photocatalytic NO_(x)degradation compared with other commercially available coating products and P25 when applied on two building materials of poly-methyl methacrylate(PMMA)and concrete surface.A weather resistance simulation and a 180-day on-site field trial were carried out the attenuation effects of photocatalytic coating applied in outdoor exposure.Based on epidemiological estimation and field investigation,hospital admissions for respiratory diseases(HARD)and mortality cases(MC)could be reduced with the application of PC-C coating along the street canyon.This work demonstrates the feasibility of air pollution control measures for the local roadside NO_(x)using photocatalytic technology,offering promising health benefits with environmental remediation.

Adaptive multicolor filters have emerged as key components for ensuring color accuracy and resolution in outdoor visual devices.however,the current state of this technology is still in its infancy and largely reliant on liquid crystal devices that require high voltage and bulky structural designs.Here,we present a multicolor nanofilter consisting of multilayered‘active’plasmonic nanocomposites,wherein metallic nanoparticles are embedded within a conductive polymer nanofilm.These nanocomposites are fabricated with a total thickness below 100 nm using a‘lithography-free’method at the wafer level,and they inherently exhibit three prominent optical modes,accompanying scattering phenomena that produce distinct dichroic reflection and transmission colors.Here,a pivotal achievement is that all these colors are electrically manipulated with an applied external voltage of less than 1 V with 3.5 s of switching speed,encompassing the entire visible spectrum.Furthermore,this electrically programmable multicolor function enables the effective and dynamic modulation of the color temperature of white light across the warm-to-cool spectrum(3250 K-6250 K).This transformative capability is exceptionally valuable for enhancing the performance of outdoor optical devices that are independent of factors such as the sun’s elevation and prevailing weather conditions.

Supported nanoparticles have attracted considerable attention as a promising catalyst for achieving unique properties in numerous applications,including fuel cells,chemical conversion,and batteries.Nanocatalysts demonstrate high activity by expanding the number of active sites,but they also intensify deactivation issues,such as agglomeration and poisoning,simultaneously.Exsolution for bottomup synthesis of supported nanoparticles has emerged as a breakthrough technique to overcome limitations associated with conventional nanomaterials.Nanoparticles are uniformly exsolved from perovskite oxide supports and socketed into the oxide support by a one-step reduction process.Their uniformity and stability,resulting from the socketed structure,play a crucial role in the development of novel nanocatalysts.Recently,tremendous research efforts have been dedicated to further controlling exsolution particles.To effectively address exsolution at a more precise level,understanding the underlying mechanism is essential.This review presents a comprehensive overview of the exsolution mechanism,with a focus on its driving force,processes,properties,and synergetic strategies,as well as new pathways for optimizing nanocatalysts in diverse applications.

We propose a near-eye display optics system that supports three-dimensional mutual occlusion.By exploiting the polarization-control properties of a phase-only liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS),we achieve real see-through scene masking as well as virtual digital scene imaging using a single LCoS.Dynamic depth control of the real scene mask and virtual digital image is also achieved by using a focus tunable lens (FTL) pair of opposite curvatures.The proposed configuration using a single LCoS and opposite curvature FTL pair enables the self-alignment of the mask and image at an arbitrary depth without distorting the see-through view of the real scene.We verified the feasibility of the proposed optics using two optical benchtop setups:one with two off-the-shelf FTLs for continuous depth control,and the other with a single Pancharatnam–Berry phase-type FTL for the improved form factor.

Portal vein embolization(PVE)is currently considered the standard of care to improve the volume of an inadequate future remnant liver(FRL)and decrease the risk of post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF).PHLF remains a significant limitation in performing major liver surgery and is the main cause of mortality after resection.The degree of hypertrophy obtained after PVE is variable and depends on multiple factors.Up to 20%of patients fail to undergo the planned surgery because of either an inadequate FRL growth or tumor progression after the PVE procedure(usually 6-8 wk are needed before surgery).The management of PVE failure is still debated,with a lack of consensus regarding the best clinical strategy.Different additional techniques have been proposed,such as sequential transarterial chemoembolization followed by PVE,segment 4 PVE,intra-portal administration of stem cells,dietary supplementation,and hepatic vein embolization.The aim of this review is to summarize the up-to-date strategies to overcome such difficult situations and discuss future perspectives on improving FRL hypertrophy.

After an initial phase of skepticism and technical difficulties,minimally invasive liver surgery(MILS)has become a widespread practice in most high-volume hepatobiliary centers.Since the first laparoscopic liver resection(LLR)was carried out in France in 1991 for a benign lesion,the indications have substantially changed,including malignant diseases such as hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)[1].Thanks to the improvements in both technical aspects and perioperative management,the extent of resection has also expanded during the last years,including patients with more advanced disease[2].With this redefinition of the boundaries of MILS,liver surgeons must be aware of the specific issues concerning HCC treatment,as well as the current evidence and strategies to overcome old limits.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is one of the most common and lethal human cancers worldwide.Surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy offers the best chance of a long-term survival for patients with PDAC,although only approximately 20%of the patients have resectable tumors when diagnosed.Neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT)is recommended for borderline resectable pancreatic cancer.Several studies have investigated the role of NACT in treating resectable tumors based on the recent advances in PDAC biology,as NACT provides the potential benefit of selecting patients with favorable tumor biology and controls potential micro-metastases in high-risk patients with resectable PDAC.In such challenging cases,new potential tools,such as ct-DNA and molecular targeted therapy,are emerging as novel therapeutic options that may improve old paradigms.This review aims to summarize the current evidence regarding the role of NACT in treating non-metastatic pancreatic cancer while focusing on future perspectives in light of recent evidence.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide,and its incidence continues to increase.Despite improvements in both medical and surgical therapies,HCC remains associated with poor outcomes due to its high rates of recurrence and mortality.Approximately 50% of patients require systemic therapies that traditionally consist of tyrosine kinase inhibitors.Recently,however,immune checkpoint inhibitors have revolutionized HCC management,providing new therapeutic options.Despite these major advances,the different factors involved in poor clinical responses and molecular pathways leading to resistance following use of these therapies remain unclear.Alternative strategies,such as adoptive T cell transfer,vaccination,and virotherapy,are currently under evaluation.Combinations of immunotherapies with other systemic or local treatments are also being investigated and may be the most promising opportunities for HCC treatment.The aim of this review is to provide updated information on currently available immunotherapies for HCC as well as future perspectives.
